***READ THE GUIDE***

For those new to gunpla/plamo or even just new to this thread; please read the guide. Please read it before asking questions, as there is a chance it has already been answered there.
For those unfamiliar, "plamo" is a shortened form of "plastic model". If it's made of plastic, someone can probably help you here!
If you're new, you're gonna fuck up. Don't worry! If you're experienced, don't make the new people worry!
>Why won't anyone answer my question?
Try being specific, especially about your materials and process. Post pictures whenever possible; even if the kit/part looks bad, you are more likely to get help posting pictures.

***Graze Group Build***
Rules:
Pick any 1/144 or 1/100 kit from the Graze family (Pic Related), and paint and customize it. As far as customizing it, I'm going to place a limit on that. The limit is 50% additions to the kit.
To define 50%, look at it like this, you could take a Graze Ritter and replace the arms (including shoulders), legs, and backpack and I'd call that 50%. I'm not counting handheld bits in that. If you're unsure of something please ask in IRC, the thread, or email.

Start Date: 12/1/16
Due Date: 2/1/17
Submissions go to
[email protected]
Submission format
Please submit photos in jpg via a compressed file (zip, rar, or 7zip), please don't link images to imgur or photobucket or the like. Please also include some WIP photos of the kits being constructed/painted/etc as validation that it's your custom.

Echo chamber right on schedule.
>>
I found one of my really shitty first top coated kits, and it's all blotchy and uneven. How can I fix this? Do I just need to go over it with my airbrush or do I have to strip it first?
>>
>>14995863
There's an LM Taurus ver. Sanc Kingdom and the ever-elusive LM Leo that probably costs like $100 if you can ever find one. Aries has a RD out there too, but that's not a model kit.
>>
>>14995876
You're gonna need to strip it first, it'll just be an overpainted mess otherwise.
>>
>>14995886
Why haven't they made any Wing grunts to go with Glory of Losers or whatever the manga's called?
>>
How good is the Re/100 Efreet? It looks easy to customize and those heat swords look top tier.
>>
>>14995890
because GoL hasn't necessarily passed their numbers barrier to have kits made. After all, they've only now started producing newer thunderbolt kits after the OVA did well and a second run was approved.
>>
>>14995898
Really solid kit is what I've heard, the RE/100 line has gotten a lot of praise bar the Nighingale whose primary complaint is that it's a brick, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
>>
Tfw i havent been able to build a kit in a month because of my hand, how are your builds going /m?
>>
>>14995905
Did you cut yourself or is it nerve damage or something of the sort?
My suffering is I need a new shelf as the current one is overpopulated. All my new kits end up back in boxes since there's no room.
I also need to dust, it's been a good number of months now.

Finished my Waffu. It's beautiful.
>>
>>14995927
The waff is a pretty great looking thing.
One of the next batches of models I get will probably be from the Origin.
Need that Ortega suit with the Axe, a Waff, maybe even a mobile worker, then there's the Gundam Local Type.
>>
>>14995898
It was so good that Bandai realized that people liked the Efreet a lot all along instead of silly shit like the Zogock or another Gundam Revive of series long dead (i.e. Seed Destiny, Crossbone, etc.).

Seriously, the RE/100 sold so goddamn well that Bandai shat out a 1/144 mockup and announcement by the next Gundam Expo, of which we'll see the HGUC sometime next year.

That means it fucking rocks.
>>
>>14995909
Nah back in August i fractured my saccphoid (bone in the hand next to the thumb) and my doctor said to wear a brace to immobilize my thumb and of course i wore it for like 2 weeks after but i didnt wear it for a while and in novmber he said i need a cast for 4 weeks so I went wednesday last week and he put it on a new one wrong so i got it recasted friday and told i wont be good till the 28th, only good news is i got 2-3 kits right now to build and then like 4-5 that im getting for christmas
>TLDR I broke my hand
>>
>>14995935
I have the worker and it's nice, but I'm prone to major zeek wank so go for the gundam local type first. Or you could try the Origin GM. That could be my first feddie model to try out.
>>
>>14995938
what exactly is the difference between 1/100 and MGs?
>>
>>14995944
1/100s are largely scaled-up HGs. MGs are much more detailed and most often come with complete inner frames.
>>
>>14995912
They send it Fedex if you live in the continental US. I'm sure their site tells you more information for other countries/regions.
For Fedex, you have options. You can arrange to pick it up at certain locations, whatever according to the options based on your region, again. You know, because I don't know where you live.
>>
>>14995944
1/100s technically are no scale, RE/100 is HG quality with better parts separation due to size
MGs are 1/100 scale with full inner frame
>>
>>14995944
I don't know myself personally because I've never bought any of the RE/100s, but I've been informed they're just simplified MGs.

They're more akin to upscaled HG kits apparently, so no tiny pilot figure (which was always fucking useless) or internal machinery bits to show off if you remove the armor panels, etc.
>>
>>14995950
>1/100s technically are no scale
you mean no grade, right?
>>
>>14995943
Was there an Origin GM announced? I must've missed that, but don't get me wrong higher on the list is Guntank Origin and the Guncannon early types.

Yea true, we're getting the ground type, along with the sniper variant AND the blue destiny GM remake to milk the runners.
There's also the MG GM sniper II and the WD variant, even though I don't buy MGs but it's still nice that it exists.

So I guess we can't complain much since we're getting so much GM
But still, what I REALLY want is just the original GM revive so I feel you anon

What advantages does resin have over plastic? Why would I buy a resin kit that has a plastic counterpart? Never used resin, just uninformed.
>>
How feasable is it to want to airbrush a PG Unicorn? I want to give a gloss topcoat to the Psyco Frame, and a matte topcoat to the armor. Should I use spraycans because of the bigger size?
>>
>>14996230

PGs have a lot of parts so expect to run through a few cans to finish the job. Airbrushes are a little more conservative.
>>
>>14996226
Varies. Sometimes, the resin kit will feature more detail, a different style or better proportions. There's also the fact that resin kits are a good way to challenge yourself.

didn't expect panel lining to be this hard
>>
>>14996271
It's not generally supposed to be? Tedious maybe, but not hard.

Are you using a marker? Just lightly run over all your panel lines (PERPENDICULAR TO LINES THEMSELVES) with a q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. Makes them neat and clean.
>>
>>14996226
Non, resin is worse in every way to plastic. But resin kits are unique and distinct from plastic counterparts most of the time. But they're not always better.

Never fucking handpaint panel lines. If you're going to use paint for you lines, do a panel wash instead its in the guide

If not a panel wash, just panel line white plastic using a 0.5mm pencil and black illustration pens of the same width or smaller for everything else.

G-self needs a lot of paint to look good.

As for the kits in general, they're on par with modern HGs. The problem was Banrise didn't give a shit about g-reco, so when its popularity blew up, the quickly threw kits out. Shame that we didn't get any 1/100, or even 1/60 kits out of the series.

Keep the missiles, it just needs a single rifle instead of the four on the arms you had going before. That or a pair of underslung cannons kinda like the Alex's gatlings

Everyone has their own opinions. I personally don't like it much, most of the Gundam Meisters are insufferable or emotionally robots, the Gundams are way too boxy for me, and I'm not a fan of either "secret conspiracy controls the protagonist's terrorist organization" or "everyone got mad and decided to RP the Titans" plots.

That said, there are a couple characters I do like, and it does have a few suits I'm into. But again, this is just my opinion. Too much space magic pixie dust for me.

Everyone got shat on for their nubs filled gunpla both here and /toy/. In snapshit's case, it's his attitude that was the problem, not so much his toys. If he was a decent person to begin with, he wouldn't troll this board to hell for 2 years traight after the initial shit storm.
>>
>>14997744
It just boggles my mind how they made it the answer for practically everything in the show.
>It's generated near-infinitely from a limitless reaction drive
>It interferes with communication networks such as radio and radar
>It forms into beams for beam rifles and beam sabers
>It sharpens physical GN blades into ultra-fine clubswords
>It overclocks mobile suits into going Char-mode
>It mutates humans into becoming psychic
>It generates a psychic field to instigate UNDERSTANDING
>It lets mobile suits teleport

I mean come on. Even Minovsky particles didn't have THIS much bullshit. I ended up rolling my eyes every time Setsuna activated his own Innovator eyes because I knew he was gonna pull some new GN spell out of his ass to win the battle.

But enough about 00 and my shit opinions.

I don't have any tutorials but here's the basics
A LED is connected by connecting the anode (long leg) to the plus on the battery and the cathode (short leg) to the minus (You must do this with LEDs because they are what is called a diode, which only allow current to pass in one direction) Also: make sure the legs of the LED aren't connected to each other, because this will just make a 0 resistance bridge and current will flow through there instead of the LED, and thus it will not turn on at all
Because LEDs have such low electric resistance they will allow a large amount of current and end up burning themselves out, which is why you also need to add a resistor in series with the LED to limit the current. (see pic related for the difference between series and parallel connections) For a low voltage battery (Around 3-9V) a 100/200Ohms resistor should be fine
If you want your LED to have a switch to turn it off and on, all you need to do is add a switch in series with the LED/resistor.

Well to each their own but a form of nuclear energy could be used for heating up blades like the gn swords and ecm could have been used for jamming radio waves but I guess they wanted to show off that the gn drives have positives and negatives.

And while newtypes, coordinators, innovators and x rounders are all bullshit that create powers solely to resolve plot points at least 00 gave a reason as to how that development came about other than 'they fought in space so much they saw geese and could talk to the dead. '

It's not like all those concepts are inherently bad, "interfering with communications," "generated from the reactor," and "forms into beams" are inherited straight from Minovsky particles, superheated/vibro/HF melee weapons have been a series staple since forever, and it's largely a given that a Gundam series is gonna have a Newtype analogue somewhere. But the difference is a lot of that tech is different or exists simultaneously alongside the Minovsky gear and isn't necessarily a direct result of it.

When 00 repeatedly beats into you that GN particles are magic fart powder that can do anything and that Aeolia Schenberg is the eternal God-Emperor that literally predicted everything that would happen and controls all of mankind's fate whether they want to or not, my suspension of disbelief starts to wear real thin.x

I guess what I'm trying to say is Minovsky particles always seemed to have strict limits on what they can and cannot do, and while these limits could be pushed (VSBRs, Minovsky Drives), they were never outright broken, and characters and the story had to work around these limitations. GN particles don't seem to have such limits, and I feel the story is worse off because of it.

Because even after two years at least the nubs of your current models should be gone, even if it's cut using side cutters and no file, knife, or even sandpaper was used.

Because even after two years you should've at least experimented with panel lining with even a cheapo marker one can get a office supply store.

Because even after two years there should be even a hint of improvement in your models and you have not shown ANY improvement in your models whatsoever.

Add to the fact that you call Gunpla, quote, "plastic toys made for children" and your refusal to do things even fucking 12 year olds do, as well as your attitude as a person, you should not wonder why nearly everyone on this site doesn't like you at all.

A great thing about this hobby is improving and pushing your limits, and yet you show no desire to do that. That by itself is okay.

What is not okay, however, is you forcing your no effort kits on us, urging conflict for the sake of it (and, even if that fails, manufacturing it by yourself) and if god forbids you get particularly mad or autistical you'll spam the thread with shitty images. And all that FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS.

It's really stiff and hard to pose. On one hand it stands up well, even with the wing pack and the shield, but on the other hand, good luck trying to get a meaningful pose out of it.

Still, I like the head design, even though it's just a sticker.
>>
>>15000161
It's not a bad kit, but it's not a great kit either. The suit itself is fairly average bu the backpack makes it back-heavy from what I hear.

Pretty much any High Grade from 00S2 on are really good kits that don't require a lot of work OOB to be good, asides from a few examples (A-LAWs GN-X, G-Self, Qubeley Papillon)

tomino not adding an establishing narrative intro

Imagine if the zakus started killing everyone and the war's conditions/reasons were doled out via expository dialogue over the next 3-5 first episodes; that was the only thing that made G-reco unwatchable for me
>>
>>15000276
Victory Gundam had that problem, but it still managed to convey a pretty cohesive narrative. Don't get me wrong, I would also prefer if they established the rules of the universe in the first episode. That just makes good story-telling sense. But I don't think that's the key problem.

The thing is absolutely perfect! Just handle it with decent care and decide whether you want it in mobile suit mode or Waverider mode for the long haul. Remember, /gpg/, the RX-78-2 is a hand grenade. The Zeta is just floppy. Learn the difference.

>inb4 kotaku
When someone puts this much time/effort/passion into making something, so much so that someone is willing to put 9000 dollaryoos into it despite it not being old or vintage, you've reached an art-form level of craft

The interesting thing about gunpla and modeling in general seems to be that it can be adapted to an art form, or simply kept down to a mundane level of mediocrity

The 'problem' then with anon/4chan is that they have a right to be offended when gunpla can made to more than just some mundane piece of plastic, but that there are people who are okay with just being mediocre; though in a hobby specific thread such as this you have to wonder then, why some people want to actively come in this thread and post their toys, as opposed to discuss the hobby/crafts aspect of gunpla
>>
>>15000605

>>

Why is it so hard to comprehend that maybe he..I dunno, DOESN'T WANT REAL GRADES that you can't comprehend?

>>15000628

Last time I checked, my threads, however short-lived they may be, at least have gunpla discussions. As soon as your "real" threads appear, it becomes stupid arguments, conspiracy theories, and really weird fantasies about 2 people on a message board, purely because they have trips. Those same trips are then blamed for wanting attention, when all you can ever talk about is us. Grow up!
>>
>>15000642
I find it harder to comprehend how someone can actively refuse, let alone fail to improve in a hobby after two years.
>>
He'll call them toys no matter what, because he loves baiting, shitposting and is just far too shit to do anything else with it. He should get actual toys and spend time in a toy thread instead of the modeling thread, but he doesn't, so he shouldn't complain about it. But he's a shitposting child so that won't happen.
He'll post another /v/ and/or /b/ tier reaction image with a typical childish response, because that's all he can do. Just stop giving him fucking attention. You're enabling his cancerous bullshit, as well as his buddy airshits crap by talking to them seriously. They do not want that, they want to be obnoxious and shitpost. They'll get new buzzwords every time to call these threads when no one follows their crap, and they'll find more and more ways to be obnoxious because you feed them. They'll flip anything they can however they can to make it seem like they're not shitposters too.

Just stop talking to them, it's a meaningless thing to do. Filter them. Keep reporting them, and ignore them. Only correct their bullshit indirectly when they are trying to say some dumb shit to people looking for help.

Finishing off with this, the entry that won that year which was built/painted by a 6-7 year old girl. Are you saying she's better than you?

How can you know it's too hard if you haven't tried building one before?

>, it becomes stupid arguments, conspiracy theories, and really weird fantasies about 2 people on a message board, purely because they have trips.
You realize this only happens when you use your trips, right? You intentionally start shit and then try to play the victim card.

See, this is actually a viable answer that doesn't make you look like a faggot. "It's too hard :'((((" makes you sound like a baby.

I just don't like how hollow it is when it's in its regular form. I love the zeta design I'm just not a fan of transforming gimics on model kits I'd rather eachieve form be it's own thing and be more solid

Can I get hex zeros once I have that much experience, too?

I love how these "echo chambers" are such a fucking issue for you and yet you two retards still stick around here.

Why do you want to be a part of a community that for the most part doesn't take either of you seriously/filters you and/or overall dislikes you in general?

I honestly would like to know why. You know this isn't the only place on the internet to talk about gunpla and share pictures of builds, etc. right?

I've gotten temp banned for reporting his spam images before so I don't do it much anymore
>>

I got a ban warning for just talking about the shitposter before.
The mods are really just terrible at their jobs here. I ignore them now, and ignore everyone who replies to them too. The only way to really go about it is just pretend they don't exist.

Anons just need to post their builds or something instead of replying to obvious bait.

I want more 00 gundam kits
>>
Not snapshit but, RGs fucking suck. They look like bandai's attempt to make smaller scale PGs without making the frames more compact and stable. HG is still the way to go because of the many options you have in regards to kits
