Before Gokaiger, I had an idea for an anniversary series where the team's powers were actually the Psycho Ranger tech (i.e. Red Ranger has fire powers and an ifrit zord).
The villains were my favorite part, though. It was basically a multiversal team of evil Rangers:
>Jason as leader, from a universe where the rest of his team died (they never did find Billy), went crazy, then sane and full-on megalomaniacal evil; his suit is a black-accented version of his MMPR suit, but with the dragon shield and a cape. >A-Squad Red - she's a dirty cop, and Jason showed up and made a higher bid than Grumm, gets the Quantum Morpher

>A fangirl from a universe where PR is just a half hour toy commercial, OC donut steel Gold Ranger with a Pharaoh motif, not even close to physically matching her in-suit physique

The issue isn't that it's predictable since the Sentai version did it. The issue is that it ended up being a super anti-climactic and disappointing resolution to Tyler's arc. Tyler was really set on looking for his dad, and then that just turns out to come and go.

The same things that generally make good superhero designs: simplicity, but not necessarily minimalism. Good color balance. And in terms of teams, something that works as a standalone costume as well as perfectly representing the team it's from.

MMPR, Zeo, Time Force and Dino Thunder are all great examples of these.

As far as MMPR to Time Force (anything after that is void to me) that's a tough one.

Gold Zeo ranger
Quantum ranger

I don't count the Magna Defender as a ranger since his outfit is so different and he doesn't have "ranger" in his name

Green and white MMPR rangers are out because Zordon made it clear that the Zeo rangers were more powerful than the MMPR rangers and the gold ranger was more powerful than zeo red.
Titanium ranger is out because I thought it was pretty clear the quantum ranger was more powerful and had a better zord.
Phantom ranger is out because I don't recall him doing anything particularly impressive.
Silver Space ranger is out for the same reason as the titanium ranger.

So it comes down to Zeo Gold vs. Time Force Quantum. I think I'm gonna with Zeo Gold.

I'd have to agree. The Gold Ranger powers were so OP normal human physiology couldn't handle them for very long. Even Triforian physiology couldn't handle the powers if not in perfect condition, and Triforians presumably harnessed it in the first place.

Quantum is kind of iffy. You could make the case it's famous feat of destroying a giant mutant was entirely due to the raw power of the Mega Battle Armor. At the same time, while Eric needed a firmware upgrade to kill monsters without a Megazord, the powers weren't slowly killing him either. It does kind of lean more heavily in his favor there.

White was pretty damn impressive (soloing 4 monsters), and we saw green and white were evenly matched when they fought. We only ever saw what green was capable of when he was evil since he only ever used his zord before losing his powers the first time, and he returned with limited powers. Though even with limited powers he was OP.

It took me a bit of a while to warm up to the Mega Modes for Samurai, but I grew to like them (Blue and Gold in particular). Now, Shogun Mode, on the other hand? That was straight trash.

The only good thing about Samurai was the Mega Mode suits. And I hate the concept of suits specifically for piloting the Zords. It's redundant and an obvious attempt to sell more toys.
