Why did the Zeon remnants treat her so poorly for committing a war crime when the entire plot of Stardust Memory was about committing a much larger war crime in the form of a colony drop?

Not just the shitty love triangle that materializes out of nowhere, but completely wasting Cima's potential as a complex character, dissappointing fights towards the finale, and everyone acting like an idiot suddenly.
And a shitty colony drop ending that wasn't written well, as it ties into nothing and seemingly has no impact on the planet at all.
The first half was a 7.5-8/10 but the second half was a 5-6/10. Very dissappointing. A friend of mine actually said that it was to date the only anime that made him legitimately angry at the ending.

Characters wearing their mobile suits/mecha is great. Maybe it's because humanoid robots are already supposed to be a projection of the pilot but I can't get enough of it. For example, GBF's ending. It just works.
