SRW OG Moon Dwellers is being localized in Chine-- WAIT WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!
No way...there's just no way. If it happens we need to make sure it's successful, otherwise pic related.
>Regulatory boards for anything other than sucking a fat bald mans cock
>Having anything resembling standards
Have you guys missed the memo?
Bandai Namco current bussiness is to expand outside of Japan because their games are selling a fuck ton more in the west/asia/EU specially their PC releases. Do not be surprised if OGMD is released on Asia with english subs or if it even makes it to the west. it's a LOT easier for them to bring an OG game to the west with subs than a fully translated game.
i will still take the english text with a smile
in before west edition is for steam
It will be a direct lift from an Asian translation, and thus will be barely coherent.
That makes more sense. I don't think dubbing SRW would make much sense anyways and most would prefer it without one, though I am surprised Digimon is being released without one (Saban might have something to do with that though).
Someone already tried and what it did was piss bandai namco off because these people where not serious about it.
Not surpring it was 180223 and his gamefaqs buddies who fucked this up
>/m/oon dwellers are too autists to do a proper petition without sounding like it came from 4chan.
You didn't read what I said. That page comes out as autistic as fuck and it was never promoted by anyone popular so it was a flop.
>Taiwan won't get them more sales than an english version.
yes it will you dumbass. taiwan and hk have been getting srw games for a very long time. the brand is known there and they have a fanbase. the us fanbase is nonexistant in comparison and srpgs dont do well here unless their name brand like FFT or pushed hard like FE. at best it would get disgaea numbers and i doubt bamco is going to bother if they can't surprass small developer sales with srw
And that's ignoring the fact that there hasn't been a FFT in like a fucking decade
i mean nippon-ichi. they aren't doing anything close to fe or fft and i'm pretty sure those franchises are closer to how bamco views srw's position. they arent translating a game if they aren't even sure they can beat a niche title.
Vita users are the main reason why Bamco is looking to the west anyways after the SAO Vita game became one of the best selling games Bamco has put out for the year.
Then they put out a petition for a Digimon game which convinced Bamco to bring it over according to the latest producer interview. With Bamco expanding towards PC and being more happy and open with VIta sales, this is why they're experimenting and seeing if localising these anime games is worth it considering the cost of localising and translating a game is relatively cheap to recover the costs.
Reminder : Cybersleuth got a dubless release. Bandai Namco is realizing that the weeb market has no need of DUBS.
Compared to Nintendo actively cutting dual audio for the sake of shitty dubs
Even without a dub it's still mountains of text to translate. Most people probably forget how much talking there actually is in SRW games considering they're so used to just skipping through everything
I don't mind not having one, but I don't mind having one either. More options is never a bad thing.
Not dubbing a Digimon game, which easily has the potential to reach a wider audience, is a dumb business decision regardless of where you stand on dubs vs. subs.
>More options is never a bad thing.
It is when dubs are rarely good and most of the audience would immediately switch to the original VA regardless of the quality of the dub. Then it's just a massive waste of money, especially for a game with as many characters and the amount of voice acting as SRW.
>Dumb business decision
>Waste money dubbing a game with a lot of dialgoue for the "chance" at making "more" money from people who'll only buy a game with a dub
>Save the money the dub would have used and maximize your profits on the Weeb audience who are buying the game no matter what
It's not a bad business decision. It's a decision made knowing the market your appealing to is niche and to minimize your losses.
>Cybersleuth got a dubless release.
Did it, cuz this trailer made it seem like it has a dub or dual audio.
Besides something like SRW is almost impossible to have a dub what with so many characters who has voices in it.
This is Digimon we're talking about here, not Panty Quest 3: Vita Edition or Mecha Crossover RPG of Other Mecha Crossover RPGs You Didn't Play. Selling it to nostalgic 20-somethings as Digimon BUT MATURE would be piss easy with some effort.
I'm specifically talking about Cyber Sleuth, no one in their right mind would ever bother dubbing SRW.
Not Cybersleuth, Moon Dwellers, or do we have to wait by the end of February for new famitsu scans?
What if I told you I've had a thing for despair?
>This is Digimon we're talking about here, not Panty Quest 3: Vita Edition or Mecha Crossover RPG of Other Mecha Crossover RPGs You Didn't Play. Selling it to nostalgic 20-somethings as Digimon BUT MATURE would be piss easy with some effort.
Have you ever sold a game?
You don't have to sell a single game to know it's far easier to convince someone to localize a game from a franchise with a reasonable history in the US rather than a game whose only US exposure sold like shit.
That would be silly.
Also yfw pic related in the Bellzelute
?? No mention of it being translated into Chinese.
SRWs do have an asia-pacific version though. They usually just contain a short manual explaining the controls in Korean/Chinese.
HK does use traditional Chinese. But it doesn't really matter because it's easy to switch between traditional/simplified.
They're just doing it Taiwan because of the tighter IP laws there. Regardless of where it comes out, the other Chinese speaking regions will still import them. Even America.
>HK doesn't read traditional chinese.
>What the fuck am I even reading
That's not how accounting works. It always costs less. Whether you can ultimately end up with bigger profits or not, that's a different issue altogether. And when it comes to niche games like this, you can end up alienating your small core base, killing your otherwise guaranteed revenue in the process, so it's a huge risk to take, and in this case, foolish.
>Compared to Nintendo actively cutting dual audio for the sake of shitty dubs
That's not actually their fault, its more like the fault of the western market and some other myriad factors.
Not quite, due to the draconian contracts and IP laws Japan has.
Sometimes the money you pay to license out the original voices per line FAR exceeds what you pay a bunch of no name B actors to come and voice multiple characters. So yes in addition to that it's not always as cheap as you think.
>playing Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen
>hear you can enable JP audio and listen to sweet Japanese dragons
>can't find it anywhere
>NOT AVAILABLE ON PC
They stuck it in the English console releases but not the PC one. MotherFUCKERS.
>NEVER EVER Anon only when Bamco sees a petition with more than 50k people wanting the game will they release the game in English
Go back to sleep 180223, petition didn't work the first time it wont work again
Yeah. Kamille said so, since his dad works at nintendo.
>I have no doubt we will get OGS Moon Dwellers in english
That's what people said about OGS too. Which is why I'm not getting my hopes up.
I thought you need to blame Atlus and their shitty marketing. And that release of game was 4 years AFTER JP release.
I doubt all that many people had flashcard in 2006-7 to impact sales
>Yeah. Kamille said so, since his dad works at nintendo.
On Kamille's defense bandai namco did say they were opening up and expanding outside of japan and we've been seeing more games coming to the west and to PC. So there is some truth in that.
Wait if we didn't even get og3 on the ps3 will we even know the plot for this one?
Is moon Dwellers og3?
I have OG2 on the ps3 (bought it).
Is this really HAPPENING?
and they have a decent fanbase translations with based on what i remember, SRW D,J,K,W , @1-3 , Z2.1-Hakai ,OGS translated and playable so their fans have more exposure to the genre already.
a quick check also shows SRW R as translated in chines with L nearing complete( only battle dialogue and editing/debug left). SRW Z2.2 is also being worked on but it probably won't be done for a couple years since the group only just got done with Z2.1 not too long ago.
>english version of srw
>excellon's name changed to britney
>all bounce cut ins are removed due to being too problematic
>plot retooled to be about defeating sexist misogynist space aliens with social justice
Oh, I'm hopeful. Really I am. Especially since PxZ1 success.
But at the same time I try to get myself ready to disappointment.
it's a pretty weird state of mind.
kinda missed that part. I stand corrected then.
I always thought petitions are useless.
