How did the WRONG TETSUJIN meme get started?

And should I watch the 2004 series?
>>
>>13798253
Yes.

Take a shot every time somebody deliberately doesn't tell Shotaro something important for poorly justified reasons. Down the glass if Shikishima says "well, that's because... no, it's better if you don't know".
>>
>>13798253
Because for years people wanted Tetsujin in srw, but the one we got was the blue Tetsujin from the 80s. It couldn't be helped, like Godmars it's owned by the studio that made the series and not Yokoyama's estate so it means we can use it and not pay through the nose like the 60s or 2004 shows.
>>
>>13798317
Is the 80's series any good?
I know it doesn't have subs.
>>
>>13798332
It has a kooky dub, which is close enough. Besides, only one of three people on Earth would take that show for subbing: Nanto, Luurah or SystematicChaos.
>>
>>13798332
It got dubbed in the 80s as New Gigantor or something
>>
>>13798253
Someone please enlighten me on what I should watch from this.

I am defintetely gonna watch the 2004 series but is it worth watching the North American adaptations of the early shows?
>>
>>13798379
The original Gigantor adaptation is cheesy 60s fun
>>
>>13798379
They're cheesy fun, if you can enjoy Speed Racer or classic Astro Boy Gigantor will give you no problems.

It's worth noting that the rather solid dub for the 2004 series keeps the Japanese names instead of inserting the Gigantor ones.
>>
>>13798253

Everyone wanted Tetsujin to get into SRW. The 2004 series in particular.

People got their wish, kinda, when the 80s series was announced for Z2.2.

80s Tetsujin is WRONG TETSUJIN

Tetsujin #28 FX is WRONGEST TETSUJIN though.
>>
>>13798576
>WRONGEST TETSUJIN
You got that right. Dr. Franken got brought back as a kid and not an adult, for some weird reason. On the bright side, RIGHT Tetsujin does appear in the show, regardless of any flaws it has otherwise.
>>
>>13798600

Yeah, and he's like, the obligatory dark rival for Shotaro's kid or whatever.
>>
>>13798576
>>13798600
FX has a lot of cool shit though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMIPJJ169DA

I mean, come on, look at that shit. It even has RIGHT Tetsujin kicking around too! It's perfect.
>>
>>13798600
WRONGEST Tetsujin sure is a cool robot, though.

That show's version of Black Ox isn't too shabby either.

Hey, A /m/odest /m/an. There was an anon a few weeks back, said he could speak French and wanted to see if he could help an existing translation project working with that. We tried to forward the anon to you because Acrobunch, but I don't know if he ever contacted you - did that anon?

No, this is the first I'm hearing of it, sadly. WI just double-checked my msubs account and the AuraRoad site and I haven't gotten anything. Admittedly, I've been pretty busy with real life shit lately, too, so I might've just missed it.

Hope to hear from him soon, though.

Well, I won't deny that. Part of me does want to see Silver Castle Subs do that show, so it could be fun.

I'm a horrible person and kept posting it in every thread when I found out the Tetsujin getting into SRW was the 1980 one.

People kept telling me to shut up but I wouldn't listen.

Then Fumimi made a comic about it and it stuck.

2004 Tetsujin is a great watch.
>>
>>13799767

I don't think we had moe in the 50s.
>>
>>13801182
Moe has existed since the beginning of time my friend
>>
>>13800739
Who the fuck is Fumimi?

The Saisei-Hen threads were good times.

Shit, man, was that really four or five years ago already?
>>
>>13798253
Try watching ALL of the Tetsujin shows.
>>13798332
No English subtitles, just a slightly flawwed New Gigantor dub
>>
>>13802380
That Tetsujin is so fucking ugly, goddamn.

>>13801182
We had more of it
>>
>>13800739
>2004!Tetsujin is a great watch
Sorry but I feel partly annoyed when most people said recommend more 2004!Tetsujin than other Tetsujin shows.
>>
>>13807012
To be fair, the other shows either have US dubs with heavy name rewrites or no subs. It doesn't help that Nanto only decided to sub the final arc for the 60s one, and even then the last update was years ago.

>>
>>13807012
It's newer and kept the original elements of post-war japan scare. Also because there are no subs for the others. If Silver Castle manage to finish Exkaiser and Goldran, maybe a sugestion would be nice to sub it next. (But only after Knight Lamune and its OVAs!)

The worst of it is that they put the old Gigantor fight music very poorly over the original soundtrack. In the end of the first dubbed episode during the climatic battle we get the first few strains of Taiyo No Shihsa and then with all the subtlety of a major multiple car accident comes the old Gigantor fight music, Sounding to all like they're using an old phonograph cylinder that's well past its time.
>>
>>13808258
It would be better for the New Gigantor dub to keep the Taiyo no Shisha music (but in instrumental) or heavily update or remake the Gigantor theme to make it more fitting
>>
>>13807104
>sub it next
You mean FX, right? Silver Castle aren't going after 80s shows so far, if that's what you're thinking.
>>
>>13798345
You forgot Kingmenu
>>
>>13810430
Yeah, but Kingmenu can't focus on anything unless it's pointed out to him (and his site is still a jumbled mess).
