The shitposting about actual mecha and the constant stream of "go back to /tg/ bluhblahble makes it hard to know what to post about
>>
>>13782312
Not even /m/ knows what's it's about anyway
>>
Usually anytime a thread is made about mechs from a game (battletech, 40k, warmachine, heroscape, combat zone etc.) It is met with derision and constant shitposting, which sucks for the OP because it drives them away from /m/ and prevents any conversation about the actual topic.
>>
>>13782341

It's usually the one weeb samfagging.

And I just saw we have a fucking thread about Initial D, what is this shit?
>>
>>13782341
As someone who dislikes BT I can definitely say no, it isn't samefagging. I don't post in Battletech threads, nor threads for any of the other games you mentioned.
>>
>>13782350
>And I just saw we have a fucking thread about Initial D
No you didn't you illiterate cunt
>>
>>13782167
Sure. I think it's /m/ as fuck.
>>
Warmachine is great. But the mechs aren't piloted.
Is it really /m/ if there are no pilots?
>>
>>13782803
Are you seriously asking this? Fucking really?

Don't expect it to be like tabletop.. it's more like XCOM meets warmachine, with final fantasy numbers tables.
If you aren't a tabletop asshole, then you might like it.
If you are an asshole (or purist) you'll hate it

So this thread is derailed as fuck
>>
>>13785972
Indeed, let's see what we can do about that.

Anyone actually played the physical games, and are they any good?
>>
>>13786005
I played tabletop until last year.
It was a fun ride, but the power creep was real.

High command, the card game variant, is VERY good. It's like a campaign game and a battle game thrown into one, goes up to 12 players with all the expansions, but it's retarded to do more than 6.

The vidya is fun, and totally worth playing, if you don't want a tabletop clone.

Finally, grind, the mecha soccer game with guns and saws is really fun. It's a combo of steam powered robots, mortal kombat, and soccer.
Really goddamn fun. My wife loves it.

No
>>
>>13786015

Thanks for the info. I play Dystpian Wars at the moment and don't want to start anther tabletop game, but if there's a basic starter box floating around, I might give that a look.

High Command did pique my interest; not enough to look into it too much, but if it can be played as a campaign, I might have to take another look.

Hadn't even heard of Grind, but might be a bit too similar to Guild Ball, which is something some friends have started.
>>
>>13786218
Grind is to Guildball what street fighter is to golf.
It's a more balls to the wall game, self contained as only a board game, with only 2 teams... with customizable weapons etc.
It's much more tongue in cheek. It can also be picked up for around €25 just about anywhere.

Every game of high command represents a campaign season, and it's very expandable. Easily adapted into a campaign.

Give warmachine a shot. It's a fun ride.
>>
>>13786218
I have always wanted to give dystopian wars a try, but the whole 1800s alien technology thing turns me off every time
>>
>>13786278
Consider me pretty much sold. You happen to remember which expansions for High Command increase the player count?
>>
>>13787214

Firestorm might be more up your alley; very similar game, exploding dice, but in space. There are a couple of smaller-scale 2 player boxes on the way for about the same price as a regular fleet started set.
>>
But does it have a Sunday best?
>>
>>13787386
Just mix hordes, or get the faith and fortune pack if u don't like hordes, goes up to 8 players.

>>13782836
First day on /m/, I reckon?

Chamber, the Logikomas in Arise, Transformers, to name a few.

>>13782886
First off, it's not that /tv/ has ever been a good board (although there are some really great threads) but it's one of the few places for good "non-specific" movie chatter on the internet, but since kekposting caught fire in September/October '14 the board just went way down hill. I think it actually started on /pol/ or /int/, but /tv/ was were it was weaned.
In late mid January of '15 the mods/janitors cracked down really hard on Sheev-, Orc-, and, Bane-posting and then the /tv/ users had a weird phase where for about a month "cuck" shit was all that would get posted until the Brendan "JUST" thing took off. Anyways, during that time is when I noticed the other boards I lurk/post start to get flooded by that stuff. /a/ had a massive influx of (or perhaps the /tv/ crossboarders started getting more brazen) cuckposting, and it wasn't long until the autism hive of /tg/ was affected, shit even /sci/ got its share.
I'm not entirely sure why, and of course this is just my own anecdotal observations, but /m/ and /mu/ seemed to have the longest turnaround before cuckshit hit them.
>>13782943
I wish /tv/ was PG-13.
>>
>>13787386
Grab the game ASAP
It's great fun, and there are campaign rules on BGG
>>
>>
>>13792550
You DO know that all your shitposting does is bump the topic, right?

Or are you OP trying to be an edge-fag for free bumps?

Either way warmachine is /m/ as fuck dude, and if I weren't a poor fag, I would totes play
>>
I've always wondered why we don't see more /tg/ related stuff in general here on /m/, outside of BT and 40k. There are plenty of interesting properties and designs.

That said, I've always had a soft spot for the Centurion, ever since I saw that Matt Wilson piece in Escalation. Was balls to the walls amazing alongside the landma-I mean Steamhead riding Darius back in MK1. Sadly fallen a bit to the wayside with some overzealous nerfing in the current era.

Probably because when people thing of /m/ games, Battletech's pretty much the only one that anyone really knows.

There are a couple on the way: Scythe looks visually amazing; Giga Robo has potential, if and when it appears on Kickstarter; the stuff for Mecha Front also looks great, if very pricey.

Dust Tactics is one that does't seem to come up much; I've been searching for a copy with no luc for a while now, but I love the style of the game.
>>
>>13782167
With steam-powered robots beating the hell out of each other in combat, it's definitely /m/. However, because its source is a tabletop game, there's a number of heavily opinionated people who want it to go to /tg/ and stay there.

>>13784027
I kickstarted it and have played it. It's good for the first video game PP has ever done, but it feels very unpolished. I can't help but feel that it can be so much better than what it currently is.

I'll say it again since this thread won't fucking die: in order for a mech to be considered a mech it NEEDS A FUCKING PILOT, or needs to be sentient.
Most importantly, /m/ refers to JAPANESE robots. That's why it's listed as Japanese culture.

By the way: War casters are not pilots, nor are Jacks sentient.
So fuck you and your /tg/ bullshit
