Neither show did it well but me love some idealistic hero pilot having to sacrifice something valuable and still not coming off scotch free.
Most /m/ I know drop the ball either because the mecha is always pristine or the pilot is always pristine whenever tragedy strike.
Then again most mecha don't have a second form that have to be destroyed while at the same time being a desperate "last ditch effort" mecha being built in an unidealistic setting where the pilot don't have the luxury of a base.
Closest thing I've seen of this is Gundam G's 1st episode (before the everything is fine ending) and Getter Armageddon's Black Getter scene.
meant to add combine in the title but field is too long

...what? People who aren't native speakers don't use expressions like "drop the ball" or "whenever tragedy strikes".

More importantly
This is a comma: ,
It is used to format pauses and breaks in sentences, such as to provide an example, list off various things, or just generally make things nicer to read.
If you can't read off a sentence you've typed without pausing, you are not using enough commas.
>coming off scotch free.
>scotch
>me love
>that have to be destroyed
Should be has, not have.
>pilot don't have
Should be doesn't, not don't

Except OP didn't use this:
> "whenever tragedy strikes"
He used:
>whenever tragedy strike.
Also, English is incredibly easy to learn because of idioms, like the ones he attempted to utilize, and ESLs definitely do use idioms. Say for instance, "fuck off!", a recommendation I am now making to you.

What<>?
I'm sorry but how did Noriko and Kazumi get off scott free?Everyone they've ever known are dead. Taking Diebuster into account, their circumstances are even more dire. Humanity had completely forgotten them and their sacrifice, and had came this close to throwing away Earth. It's thanks to Jung's promise and Nono's actions that Noriko and Kazumi had a home to return to. A home that will be radically different, but their home no less.
