Well I'm guessing since this is coming on the tail end of a battle the next 3-4 episodes are building for the next fight, why is it taking them so long to get to Earth? Kudelia has been making some "decisions" despite this and the screentime she gets, I feel she hasn't really grown much as a character. I am not looking forward to her asking questions basically anyone in the universe should know so that someone has some pretext for exposition.

Yeah the GH guys are kind of dull antagonists, but I like the show's character arcs. Orga coming to grips with his responsibility, Kudelia trying to be better and more helpful, Mikazuki not becoming some full on yandere.

I eat up the sappy Human Debris and Family stuff, which Is I guess why I've liked this arc ever since the Turbines got introduced.

The cast is flat and get away on a lot of plot conveniences. The show is repetitive, nonsensical and doesn't have much depth to it. That is to say there's no world building, Orga and Kudelia go through the same repetitive phases of moping about then getting a pep talk to tie them over without much development actually being shown.
The foreshadowing is almost comical in execution, it was particularly bad in the first few episodes because of how painfully cliche it was. They all seem like characters in a bokan gang.
The show also spends more time telling you things rather than showing and someone is always uncharacteristically stupid enough to need a very stilted, unnatural infodump to take up 2 minutes of screentime, fairly often about things they should have some degree of familiarity with.

The battles don't have much tension because there's very little reason to care about the side characters that have died so far. Masahiro showing up 2 minutes after Akihiro just suddenly remembered he tragically lost his brother is unbelievable and what's more unbelievable is that he dies almost immediately after being introduced. His death feels more like a cheap allowance by the show to attach some sort of message to the Gusion that he's going to get, rather than it just being a random suit they get it's now something personal because this kid with 10 minutes of screentime died. They could have used that same idea of him remembering his brother and introduced it earlier when Orga was all about family and create some decent character drama with that.

The choreography is poor, with weapons popping in n out, people suddenly being really close to each other to grapple, odd ship physics etc. Also everyone dies in one solid hit despite their no beam policy because they hate OHKOs, which ends up being no different from grazing beams vs direct hits. The animation isn't anything to write home about either.

I don't think the show is awful though, just really 'meh'.

This. It annoys me that people phrase Orga's development when he has been boring as shit. People shouting at him cause family only ever made sense for the funereal bit and even then it took 30 seconds to convince him on a issue which never came up before. IBO was obviously planned as a big 00 style show, the merch, advertising, slot and even proper dub tell you that. But the show hasn't really got that, and instead has just sort of hit an okay level of success more in line with other recent gundams. The slow pace was obviously so they could extend or shorten as needs be but when you get closer and closer to the end but don't know that means they have no idea of what content they can do. It's going to end up the either sort of defeat the bad guys. Okada is busy with other shows so she may not even stick around if they did get a S2.

By development they mean has been sat on a shelf. After 00 they obviously would want another big hit and what IBO sounds like could fit another one. Like a lot of projects though it just went no where and that is why we didn't have a new gundam tv show for a while. I don't actually think it was worked on that much in the time and if it was they have not been able to bring the world out. Now we are at another good point for gundam to get big including expanding west with the success of origin manga. This is where my theory gets less credible, no one really wanted to do this project but they were obligated to finally get it out. That is why Okada barely writes for it and the animation is so lacking, everyone had the project dumped on them

Writing the episode-by-episode script is different from writing the plot. In a serial the story is established well before any production even starts much less finalizes. Though that isn't to say the studio can't change something during production, which happens quite a bit in Gundam.

If you have a solid foundation, and we'll only know that when IBO wraps up, then building on it is pretty straightforward with an established world and established characters. Alternatively, IBO's spinoffs or follow-up shows could be entirely different in character. For example, if Tekkadan were to split up, that would send the characters on a completely different trajectory - the kind which would be ill-served by trying to maintain the atmosphere and tone of this current entry. Hell, there's also the possibility of doing a prequel that covers the Calamity War or some intermediary period as a hold-over until they're ready to follow up the ending of IBO proper.

No they are very shallow. These aspects are badly delivered and with stuff like Guts brother not even a minute before it becomes relevant. They are then making the smart decision to join and sell goods to raise more funds but no suddenly YOU DON'T GET FAMILY CAUSE THAT IS IMPORTANT IN A PMS. But he doesn't change at all, he gets a bit upset once and then everything is chill and they get let in and use of the black market. Orga didn't do anything different, his interactions with everyone are in line with how he has always been. It isn't like he didn't treat people well as he would give them chances (like putting Eugene in charge for missions) and be kind (kid runs into him he tells him it's fine and rustles his hair).
