I enjoyed ot throughly. Wasn't big on ship mecha musume years back but the anime was pretty good. Heard the cg parts were by the same studio by the guys who did MJP's cg, I'm expecting some nice close combat at least.

I prefer how Arpeggio did it, since there are physical ships.

My only complain with Kancolle is that the designs doesn't have enough metal on them, and the mechanical parts doesn't seem to fit well onto the girls.

The Abyss though, now those are much better designed imo since the colours of their body fit more whatever non-human part on them. Besides, mini-kaijus.

This is dedicated to people who have played the game, if someone is fine with the game they would at least think this is acceptable. The CGI is alright, the equipment scene was cool. For those who aren't familiar with the game, they would be really, really confused and won't know what are they looking for.

However there are some flaws, the water skating was weird, some of the in-game lines were awkardly inserted and makes no sense, overall 7/10

I am quite surprise this turned out to be such a big hit that it even got an anime going for it when the previous incarnation of the exact same idea by Systemsoft fell flat on its face.
Yes, there are few spin offs and sequels but nothing like KantaiColl in term of popularity.

Some of them are bases which can pretty much be neutral depending who controls it. And the carrier that supposedly carry those planes looks like Kaga which could imply converted into Abyss units. Historically there were bunch of ships converted by opposing forces to use against former country they served on. This is one reason why ships gets scuttled so they don't fall into enemy hands.

The fact that it was in the form of a real ship, suggest that it is a flashback. They are not going to turn the girls back into actual ships or anything, that wouldn't fit the setting.

Why their design is so modern? All other boats dressed like they're from ~20th century and earlier, except for those too, who look even a bit futuristic, with that halo and antennas.
