Was it good? Was it bad? Was it stupid?
I enjoyed ot throughly. Wasn't big on ship mecha musume years back but the anime was pretty good. Heard the cg parts were by the same studio by the guys who did MJP's cg, I'm expecting some nice close combat at least.
Better than expected, but considering that we're talking about an adaptation of something that has virtually no plot it's not exactly a very high mark.
That launching sequence was pretty cool, though.
It would have been neat to see some sequences like pictured but sadly no.
Guys, just because it's strenuously technically /m/ does not mean you have to talk about it here. I want to talk about actual battleships and robots, not your barely mechanical anthropomorphic generic moe girls.
There is a board made for you. It's called /a/. Why do you have to do this here? Why can't you come to /m/ to talk about robots? The board is mecha. MECHA. These are not mecha. Just because they fall under an extremely forced definition of the spectrum doesn't make this a suitable place for it.
I prefer how Arpeggio did it, since there are physical ships.
My only complain with Kancolle is that the designs doesn't have enough metal on them, and the mechanical parts doesn't seem to fit well onto the girls.
The Abyss though, now those are much better designed imo since the colours of their body fit more whatever non-human part on them. Besides, mini-kaijus.
It is still /m/. You have problem, you go to moot.
Either you discuss this show or get out. I'm not going to drag it into a meta argument of what is /m/ and what is not.
Do we have to do this shit every time a show with a cute girl in it and also has mecha content in it comes out? You fuckers tried driving Robot Girls Z off the board. And that was a show about FUCKING MAZINGER, yet you still claimed it wasn't enough.
I really hope we get to have a more in depth look at the abyssals. No pun intended. They are already a more interesting enemy than the neuroi were in strike witches.
First episode was crap in my opinion. The CGI didn't blend at all. The plot wasn't enough of one for my taste. The girls personalities weren't really selling it to me. Honestly, I still love the concept, but the show's just not working it.
Extremelly boring. The girls have zero personality and the water-skating seems way too stupid. Also, muh nationalism, but anyone with a little anime mileage is probably immune to it already.
The CG is gorgeous though.
That's not Nagato or Musashi.
Fuck off. We've had tons of the threads about it already, it's /m/. For fuck's sake we've had SeHa Girl threads here. If you don't like it go play in your Gundam hugbox threads.
next time you gonna talk shit, do some research first, otherwise you are just a sperging dumb fuck.
Can't give enough shits to find some facts before shitposting? Then don't bother to click on these threads, it's that simple.
This is dedicated to people who have played the game, if someone is fine with the game they would at least think this is acceptable. The CGI is alright, the equipment scene was cool. For those who aren't familiar with the game, they would be really, really confused and won't know what are they looking for.
However there are some flaws, the water skating was weird, some of the in-game lines were awkardly inserted and makes no sense, overall 7/10
>b-but I hate moe shit
>why did arrows turn into planes thats bullshit
>OMEGARD JAPAN WANK
>I want my edgy serious killfest war drama!
>mecha musme is the cancer killing /m/
and these people should stay away from something they would definitely not enjoy
So far so good.
The only complain i have are the fleet composition : 4 Cvs + 2 DDs as a main fleet to go off again an instillation type hime ? And also that bomb, what the heck, did type 99 bomber now carry nuclear bomb too ?
Also not enough Kongou.
I am quite surprise this turned out to be such a big hit that it even got an anime going for it when the previous incarnation of the exact same idea by Systemsoft fell flat on its face.
Yes, there are few spin offs and sequels but nothing like KantaiColl in term of popularity.
Maybe it because it's a PC franchise?
according to the rules @ https://www.4chan.org/rules#m
<</m/ - Mecha
All mecha and mecha-related (ex: pilots, core fighter, mecha girl, hobby model) images are allowed.
It was only a day ago when we had a fucking pony thread being forced.
Maybe they needed to slap a toaster onto them to make it /m/. Mecha ponesume!
Vaguely related by transitive property of WW2.
I'm pretty down with this show if it's just going to be Fubuki trying to get Akagi-senpai to notice her. It's kind of charming like a shoujo series.
Does /m/ prefer carriers or battleships and battlecruisers?
But Nagato isn't a fast&furious!
Does anyone find it ironic that WWI era battlecruisers converted into battleships by late 30s standards of tech, armament, and mobility did the better performance wise then WWII originals like Nagato, Mutsu, Yamato, Musashi?
Kongou-class fast battleships have a better service and track record in the Pacific War then any of their younger more modern siblings.
Kongou and Haruna bombing and shelling Henderson airfield, destroying 40-50 Marine seaplanes and fighters, successful escorts up til Midway with their sister Kirishima of the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Carrier divisions, etc...
Yamato is referred to a hotel, Mutsu kills herself, Yamashiro and Fusou didn't do much, Hyuuga and Ise did alright to the last days of the war, etc...
I'm still interested in the Abyssals. It seems interesting to me that 'Murrican ships are seen as such nightmares.
That's pretty neat.
Were the upgrades that good to them, or did the crew make up a lot of the difference?
The upgrades turned them into lightly armored fast battleships that could performance wise keep up with their fleet carriers and escort carriers to safeguard them.
I guess a combination of crew and upgrades but performance wise they are not on par with modern WWII battleships.
They are not all American ships, more of a mix bunch of sunken ships. Some are pretty much the dark manifestation of the fleet girls.
>Was it good? Was it bad? Was it stupid?
TL;DR: As of episode 1, it's worth a watch
Tasteful use of CG
Arrows turning into airplanes
Abyssal fleet has nice fanart
Lack of /k/ and /m/
Most of the friendly ship (mecha) designs are dumb, ugly, impractical, nonsensical, or unimaginative
The Abyssals also include entire islands
>>11948449 is Yuudachi, a Shiratsuyu class Destroyer that caused the US navy so much grief that it was shot at even after its crew hoisted the white flag and abandoned ship at the battle of Guadacanal(JP refers to it as the 3rd Battle of Solomon Sea), having done the following actions...
Attempted a ramming action against the lead Destroyer Cushing(Cushing avoided it steering to the left) This resulted in the entire formation being thrown into chaos.
Fired 2 Torpedos to cripple Cruiser Atlanta after Battleship Hiei and Light Cruiser Nagara after it ate friendly fire from Cruiser San Francisco.
Assisted Hiei and Nagara in hitting the San Francisco, killing the command staff on the ship.
Hit and sunk Destroyer Barton with 2 torpedos
Got behind Destroyer Aaron Ward and Destroyer Cushing and shot them up to critical damage
Scored a hit on Cruiser Juneau's bridge and shut down their command structure.
All in 32 minutes of combat.
But then she got hit by friendly fire which hit the bridge, supposedly from Nagara(according to the torpedo master)
The surviving crew was rescued by sister ship Samidare and then attempted to scuttle her, but with the approaching enemy forces, Samidare withdrew and then the US navy shot at and sunk the abandoned hulk.
Crazy as hell for a mere DESTROYER, no?
>implying BBvs have a chance to shine with Kongou sisters centric episode in the future
Hieeeee isn't much better.
They're part of the few 100% gay girls, the ones who say sorry I can't when you try to marry them. That's what, Hiei, Yamashiro, Chiyoda, Chikuma, Tatsuta and pre-kai ni Ooi?
translatedmanga featuring giant mecha girls fighting monsters when?
there is a lot of siscons, but when they tell you they love their sister more that you WHEN YOU ARE MARRY THEM is another thing altogether
As a watcher whose only exposure to the series is the shipgirl designs, I'll have to say I really dig the the arrows turning into Zeroes thing. Pretty cool.
Will Bismarck appear? She's my favorite design.
>glorious piece of shit
Call me when we get something who did shit like glorious Johnnie Walker
You mean to tell me the girls aren't huge?
You had one job.
Don't come to this thread if you don't like it. /m/ isn't your personal board.
>yeah it's a show about ultraman girls fighting monster girls with ship cannons
>why bother with the human girls appearance if they are gonna be so damn big?
>I dunno I guess some people are really into this size difference thing
yeah the idea of regular girls possessing ship spirits wasn't silly enough.
like really what the hell did you guys expect, the trailer even shows them walking around in regular buildings.
i don't know what it is about musume but it makes me go full normalfag everytime. It disturbs me profoundly and I find it insulting a lot of the time too. Robot Girls Z nearly put me in the emergency room
>the first blast (Test Able), an air burst on 1 July 1946; she was 1,500 meters (1,640 yd) from ground zero and was only lightly damaged.
> For Test Baker, an underwater explosion, the ship was positioned 870 meters (950 yd) from ground zero. Nagato rode out the tsunami of water from the explosion with little apparent damage
Takes some kind of badass to ride out the tsunami of water from an underwater detonation.
She sank later, but damn, she was awesome.
I didn't play the game, but some of them totally references past war stuff, like henderson-chan, so I don't think it is that impossible for US ships to be here. Isn't the abyssal planes called helldiver and avengers?
It's not that there aren't any that aren't America-based, it's just that the abyss is angry sunken ships and battlefields in general rather than representing a specific nation. Hell, there's even one boss (last fall's event's Destroyer Princess) that's a stand-in for one of the playable ships (namely Harusame).
Some of them are bases which can pretty much be neutral depending who controls it. And the carrier that supposedly carry those planes looks like Kaga which could imply converted into Abyss units. Historically there were bunch of ships converted by opposing forces to use against former country they served on. This is one reason why ships gets scuttled so they don't fall into enemy hands.
I think that's more because the Bismarck is somehow one of the more notable vessels of WWII, despite both ships basically being jobbers in the tradition of "big fucking deal" warships throughout naval history.
In all seriousness, if any of you Anons ever are tasked with making an epic flagship or something, just say no. If your country doesn't sink it themselves like the British often did, your enemies will with little trouble.
Musashi took a beating before going down though.
>Musashi was sunk by an estimated 19 torpedo and 17 bomb hits from American carrier aircraft on 24 October 1944 during the Battle of Leyte Gulf
Once popularity starts to dip (probably within the next 6 months after the bandwagon degenerates) I'm willing to bet we'll see an expansion or addition of some kind to include U.S. ships, either in their own AO or a part of an international defense initiative sortov like strike witches.
So whats the damaged aircraft carrier in the OP?
Anime logic says it should be Akagi, but the damage done fits more with Kaga, pretty sure it looks like a hybrid between both (command tower more centered like Akagi, but exhaust smaller like Kaga)
There was tons of Naka-chang though.
>So whats the damaged aircraft carrier in the OP?

The fact that it was in the form of a real ship, suggest that it is a flashback. They are not going to turn the girls back into actual ships or anything, that wouldn't fit the setting.
Why their design is so modern? All other boats dressed like they're from ~20th century and earlier, except for those too, who look even a bit futuristic, with that halo and antennas.
Is there some story behind this?
It's a weird artist preference. Murakumo, Hatsuharu and Nenohi were by the same guy and equally sci-fi looking.
Though Hatsuharu got a kai ni with a more standard ship hull so maybe he's gotten over it.
not in English anyway, so nope
Also, the plot of game is not complete without the expansion pack which added the allied side for both the pacific and Europe theater. The end ended with a plot hole that I don't know whether the sequel of the game (set in 1990 modern time) answered or not.
Not that I'm complaining, but why is like half the cast voiced by Ayane Sakura?
