So if you haven't heard by now, we're working on a new collaborative novel!

This one is slightly more structured than most previous efforts, so the planning process might seem more in-depth than some anons may be used to. One of the positive side effects of this though, is that everyone can have equal opportunity in shaping the greater creative vision. And, if you don't particularly like planning, and want to jump into writing right away, there is a place for that too, even during these early stages.

Basically, if you want to jump into the planning side of the creative process (whether it's coming up with character names, chapter arcs, potential titles, themes, styles, cover art, etc) then jump in this doc:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1mRH7rfS21WKMPzLEDMxcRtnB38rpkraTgL4dOKBlJIo/edit?usp=sharing

And if you just wanna put something down on the page, whether its something you wrote three years ago and think it might fit somehow, or something you wanna write specifically for the project, then jump in this doc:

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-cp4Avh4E2VYGLPdV1afZnKsZeY-2_GUVjqyRNeKFmE/edit?usp=sharing

If you are having trouble understanding how this all works, which is very understandable, do not worry. In the posts below will be a quick, but detailed, rundown of the basic premise for the project. I would recommend ALL anons read through this rundown before contributing to either doc, to ensure that we are all on the same page.

Worth Noting:
- The current title (Pantheon) is just a working title. Title and cover art discussion is currently taking place in the first linked document
- Eventually, once the initial details are fleshed out, there will be individual google docs for each core chapter (see premise rundown below for info on how chapters are going to work)
- Periodically, you may find that public editing is restricted. This will usually be because a pesky anon has been meddling with or mass deleting the document. During these times you can still edit and add comments, your edits will simply remain pending until approval. I will do my best to approve all edits as soon as possible during these times.
- Always feel free to post your contributions, criticisms, discussions and whatever else in the thread as well, if you don't feel like going straight to the documents
- And finally, if you have any questions or confusions about the project, do not hesitate to ask!

The Man with no Talent is related to the plot. It explains how David Foster Wallace became a god.

When he prayed to the gods of the pantheon, they were so shocked by his lack of discernible talent that they deified him.

I'm going to put this through that colourizer that was popular on /a/ like two weeks ago and see if I can make it look good. This is probably a better choice than the original painting, and is less likely to get us in any potential legal trouble.

I've updated the setting:

The Pantheon have killed God (ty based Nietzsche) and have attained power in the heavens. Each God has their own slice of what was Paradise and have now changed it to their own will, surrounded by their own sects of sycophants. I envision a middle ground where they’ve all pulled magnificent chairs into a semi-circle, with dead Angels littered leading up the stairs to them from the Gates of heaven (taking over heaven and killing god is bloody business yo). The Gods started the apocalypse early, calling on the 4 horsemen to destroy the world. They did so to cement their rule in the heavens against human meddling and the potential for another to ascend to godhood and affect the pantheon’s balance… Anon finishing his (god-awful) piece of literature is only a casus belli.

How will the editing process work?
Assuming this will end up as something trying to be high quality and not a jumbled mess, will we continue to discuss plot points and make changes in threads until the very end with everyone working together to make it as great as possible?
Should the authors of the main parts make a trip to better discuss their chapters and respond to criticism?

Once at work I'll take the time to write a female god in the google doc. My idea so far is to have a dual deity: One side is the woman seen by /r9k/ (oozes sexuality, braindead, blonde, superficial, has it easy) and the other the woman idealized (virgin, quiet, knows she is less intelligent, looks like mum). I'd call her Venus Parthenos or something.
I'll think about it some more

I think it will be good to have a female god for anon to overcome. He could put on the whole pseudo intellectual show, and it will work, but in realty he's just being a sperglord
Maybe his nervousness toward talking to the virginal cute side would be misconstrued as reverence for her.
Maybe the sexy side will be too much and he will literally start jacking it right there, or cum in his pants, and guzzle his own cum which would also be respected.
I don't know, definitely need a female god in there for laughs, and because it adds a different dynamic not possible with male gods.

"We will guzzle cum so much," said Dolan Grump "you will be tired of cum-guzzling!"

"What difference does it make at this point?" supplied Hitlery Cunton as she was being propped into her dark-tinted van by her various body guards and aids.

"It makes all the difference, Hitlery," Dolan Grump spat back. "For we will make cum-guzzling great again!" He gave his trademark shit-eating grin at the loud cheers of his mindless orange-skinned cum-guzzling-enthusiast supporters. Grump was sure he would make the greatest Cum-Guzzler in the entire history of the United States of Cum-Guzzling!

And the most revered writer of all times, Mrs. Just Kidding Rollin', They Hatin', had only one thing to say at the whole cum-guzzling shitfest, "Dolan Grump is gay and Hitlery is a niggeress, 'cos I said so, Goddamnit!"

At the end of the dozen strong Grump crowd, stood a young, emaciated, non-gendered, problem-glasses endowing, cum-guzzling PERSON, by the name of R. U. kiddinme, who was carrying a sign that said, "Stupid sexy Flanders would've guzzled cum!" But nobody paid any attention to it.

Dolan Grump, after having, at least in his own peabrain, won the debate, sauntered down the steps in his very own obnoxiously smug way and entered his limo, where his daughter, and favorite piece of poontang in the whole wide world, I-WannaCum was waiting with her feet touching the roof and stinky cuntflaps pointing to the car door, awaiting her father's peanut to diddle her fiddle.

Each chapter needs to be more or less planned, but it can happen on a chapter by chapter basis. For example, the Stirner-god chapter is looking very fleshed out, so writing could begin on that very soon.

>Not very much planning happened yesterday
Across the whole document there was a decent amount. The autistic cum guzzling anon got to the doc early this morning though.
>>
Grump: "As we welcome the arduous Brave New World Order, we, as the reigning cum-guzzling champions of the world must remember what our ex-cum-guzzling champ, Just Fucking Kringing, once said, "We choose to guzzle cum. We choose to guzzle-cum in this decade and guzzle the other bodily fluids, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that guzzling will serve to organize and measure the best of our cums and other bodily fluids, because that cum is one that we are willing to guzzle, one we are unwilling to spill, and one which we intend to suck, and the other bodily fluids, too."

The entire crowd of about 7 orange-skinned cum-guzzlers cheered like their cums depended on it.

Dolan Grump gave a smug, ear-to-ear, before continuing.

"The previous nigger cum-guzzler made us look incompetent in the eyes of the world's up and coming pissing, pooing, and cum-guzzling pooperpowers. But not anymore! With me as the head-cum-guzzlers, we will win all the cum-guzzlings."
Grump paused for effect.

"I know cum-guzzling." Dolan Grump said bigly-smugly. "I guzzle the best cum. They're terrific. Everyone agrees." And his orange-skinned fan followers went mad as they heiled their Hitler, uh, i mean, hero.

"Pooperpower 2020! Mangina!" Dolan Grump finished as, once again, he wanted to have the last word.

Meant to address this post last night because it asks a few good questions.

>How will the editing process work?

>Assuming this will end up as something trying to be high quality and not a jumbled mess, will we continue to discuss plot points and make changes in threads until the very end with everyone working together to make it as great as possible?

You basically answered the question yourself. Ideally, that is how the editing process will work. If it gets significantly jumbled further down the line and we want to ensure that there's some kind of method to the madness we can make the docs comment-only.

>Should the authors of the main parts make a trip to better discuss their chapters and respond to criticism?

The current plan is to make a google doc for each main chapter. These docs would most likely be comment only from the get-go, so that the steady writing progress of whoever is writing each one is not impeded, but anons can over as many suggestions, criticisms, potential edits as they like.

I think it would be cool if at least one main chapter could be attempted to be written totally collaboratively, but we can see how that goes.

>I can't imagine all of the interlude submissions will make it, so should we do some kind of vote as to what makes it?

There aren't actually too many at the moment. anons have seen slightly more eager to submit prose than poetry for now. We will see though. If need be we can vote in some way, most likely using the comment feature or something.

I think I have replied to everything I missed last night.

So a couple things,

- Planning is going well, but the document is so large that certain parts are being neglected. Despite this, almost every single entry field has at least something in it, which is great. As the project progresses, I will probably start screenshotting certain that are in more need of input than others and post them in the thread to generate discussion or just direct peoples attention to them. This should speed up aspects of the planning process significantly.

- In terms of writing, the Stirner section is looking like it will be the first to be ready. There was already an anon who seemed keen to write this section (the same anon who contributed huge amounts to the plan) so he will have first dibs. If Stirner-anon gets back to me, I will set up a google doc specifically for the Stirner section, where we can vote on the name ideas etc, and Stirner-anon can start putting his work up. As he starts putting his writing up, I will most likely make the doc comment only, so anons can suggest edits and other constructive feedback in real time, without messing with Stirner-anon's creative flow.

- I had an idea for some added context for the appendix. We could have a god present during the judgemnt/trial who records everything that is said. It could be mentioned in the text that Anon's answers are so long-winded and rambling at times that sections of his dialogue have been skipped over, but were kept on record and have been included for the reader in the appendix. Just an idea, let me know what you think.
>>
>>9068728

We inflate the page-count by expressing Stirner's reaction to what the protagonist says by an image rather than a description. This will also give the chapter it's own style.

It would be nice if we can think of creative things that make each chapter unique.

We can have Diogenes spoof it. As in, he interjects to what the protagonist is saying by questioning it with another god. The other god gives a very short 'yes' response almost every time.

The DFW chapter could be broken up into different named sections like Infinite Jest's years, but then written in chronological order anyway.
This would be one way to mirror Protags misunderstanding/misrepresenting nature. Just using the format without thought, but still appearing clever. Assuming that is how he will be written.

Small update regarding the next stage of writing:

Im putting together a seperate doc for the Stirner chapter. Once this is up, all discussion for this chapter will move to this doc. The writing will be as collaborative as it needs to be.

Basically, once we have the basic plot, style and theme of chapter agreed upon, anons can submit as much written content as they want (be it a paragraph or 10 pages). Once it looks like there is enough writing, we can combine the submissions together with the minimum amount of extra words/context required to create something somewhat coherent.

If this works for the stirner chapter, we can try doing the other chapters the same way. We will probably put a limit on the amount of chapters we work on simultaneously, as each will require its own google doc.

Also, thank you to whoever changed the o's back. It was crashing my tab every time I tried.

Stirner Chapter Doc is up!

https://docs.google.com/document/d/18qUc-Q9RwgUnfu30W2mfa3FxosUMkSE0PVKKXBqrz1I/edit?usp=sharing

The entire Stirner section of the planning Doc has moved here^^^^^

You can also find this link where the Stirner section used to be

We are going to be finalizing all the details for the chapter. As soon as this is done the actual WRITING can commence (see this post: >>9076216 for further explanation).

So if you have any final ideas to submit for this chapter, get them in NOW.

We will start with the name (pic related). Either in this thread or in the new Stirner doc, make your choice for the gods name known.
>>
>>9078904
Also, depending on how well this goes, the next chapter that's gets its own doc will be the DFW god
>>
>>9078904

>>
>>9079267
>will this chapter cover the basics and give me an idea about him?

Potentially, in a meme-filtered kind of way most likely. At the very least you would get a basic idea of how /lit/ interprets his work
>>
>>9078904
If he was called Ego, that could work interestingly with the question "is the ego a spook?", and also work with the idea the other anon had about using the 5 different sketches to show his reactions.

Anon would answer with yes, the ego is a spook, then sketch of Stirner would say something like 'noooo' and slowly fade out and disappear. Or not say anything, but you get the idea
>>
>>9074330
I'm the Anon who had the premise and also wrote in the backstory a bit.

I'd be more than happy to write a short introduction about how Nietzsche killed God with the other writers.

I've split the "How does the story arrive at its beginning?" section up (in Section Three of the planning doc), so that there is now a two fields, one specifically for the Prologue/introduction and one for the beginning of the main story, presumably where chapter one would begin.

Feel free to add your ideas/writing in the new field as you see fit. We can assume for now, unless anyone objects, that this will be the official plot for the Prologue/introduction.

>>9080432

Votes are in, and the winner by a clear enough margin is... Watashi!

I think its a good name, particularly if we make him an low-key anime fan like a few anons suggested.

Also, since we are most likely using the 5 sketches idea, we could have him say something along the lines of 2d being superior to 3d, and that the third dimension is a spook. Just an idea.

Either way, I'll try to clean up the chapter doc so that his characteristics are somewhat defined and coherent.

The next matter to decide will be the question he asks anon and how anon answer. Get any final submissions in for this cause there will be a Strawpoll up soon.

We also need a stirner [kawaii] and stirner [embarrassed] then.

Also, because it's black-line art, and really low-res, the exterior black lines are drawn into the background to avoid there being an awkward artifact thing going on. I might attempt to texture the entire image, but that's going to be hard work so it'll have to wait.

Might seem like a small milestone but, we essentially have our first fleshed out character.

I did my best to combine everyone's suggestions into one coherent set of characteristics, and pic related is the end result (this is how it now appears in the document).

Think about what this character might pose to anon as their chosen question of ultimate final judgement etc. and add it to the list in the Stirner doc:

>>9085737
>How long were you planning on keeping the votes open

Until a winner emerged, essentially.

Under certain circumstance I could have kept it up longer, but sometimes you have to build on the momentum when you are fortunate enough to have it. The name "Watashi" was voted to the top quickly, and it conveniently tied together a number of aspects of the character. When something like that seems to form on its own during the writing process it's good to take advantage of it. It stops the writing from getting stagnated and helps give it an 'organic' feel.

>>9085761
>I would have preferred a whole day so everyone around the globe might have had a chance

This is probably true though

Strawpoll for Stirner-god's question to Anon is up:

This question will play a large part in determining the tone of the chapter, so it's quite important.

>It should be something that an ordinary person would not be able to answer or guess.

Why would, not ordinary people be going to the 'good; afterlife?

And, why is Stirner presiding over this?

>what does the 'good' afterlife entail
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAxARJyaTEA
>>
>>9087856
>Why would, not ordinary people be going to the 'good; afterlife?

We are assuming that the pantheon have made their trial arbitrarily hard, with no intention of letting anyone into the good afterlife at all. Either the pantheon aren't necessarily 'good guys' or they are so powerful that humanity is completely trivial to them are they are essentially just fucking with us for their own amusement.

>And, why is Stirner presiding over this?

Not Stirner, but a powerful god who just seems to resemble Stirner in some way. You have to remember that the story is taking place inside a /lit/-inspired universe. Think of the "its magic, i aint gotta explain shit" may-may.

>I guess this also begs, what does the 'good' afterlife entail?

This is currently undecided, so any suggestions for what the 'good' afterlife entails and what the bad one might, or if there is even a good/bad, heaven/hell dichotomy type thing at all, are very welcome. If you have any just post 'em here or in the "How does the story end?" section of the planning doc.
>>
>>9087937
>r if there is even a good/bad, heaven/hell dichotomy type thing at all, are very welcome. If you have any just post 'em here or in the "How does the story end?"

I saw on maybe the other thread, about Nietzshe maybe being involved, one of the gods, as in Nietzshe killed god, assumed his place. Perhaps the hidden agenda of Anon, is to defeat the new god Nietshe, and assume power on the Pantheon (pretty much, /lit/ thinking it is so e/lit/e and haughty and critical, know it all and know it better, that the essence of the story is, /lit/ coming into all powerful worldly power, and organizing the world as it sees fit (though I presume, the serious of this will be backed away from, with endless ironies, penis jokes, and mayms.

(also, I have been writing something of a monologue, that may be able to fit towards the end, just poetic ramblings, it could be something all anons can add to, make better (hopefully no worse), and I figure it would be like a wrapping up 'no matter what the gods say, this is what I have learned about myself and the world, on this journey, etc.' and maybe after the reciting of this, the gods are impressed (cliche) and let anon in.
>>
>>9088117
>>9087937
I expanded on a short summary of this idea a little better, I will type it up later.
>>
>>9088117
>>9088301

I remember what you are talking about. I believe the basic idea was that Nietzsche killed the one omnipotent God (the christian God with a capital G) which allowed the current pantheon to take charge, or perhaps they were purposefully ushered in by Nietzsche.

>Perhaps the hidden agenda of Anon, is to defeat the new god Nietshe, and assume power on the Pantheon

The idea of what happens after Anon 'defeats' the pantheon by answering all of their questions correctly has been briefly talked about. Having Nietzsche as the ultimate 'end boss' who shows up after the pantheon seems like a cool idea. He could engage Anon in one last battle of knowledge/wit, and Anon could stump him by pointing out that God never died, as Nietzsche merely assumed his role.

Nietzsche could then fade into oblivion or otherwise surrender his power, and Anon could be given the option of bringing God back, but instead chooses to assume the role of God himself, which is basically your idea of "/lit/ coming into all powerful worldly power, and organizing the world as it sees fit", which I personally like a lot.

If this gets fleshed out we could potentially already have our beginning and ending concept already. I believe there was another anon, unless that was you, who is already working on a similar premise for the prologue.
>>
>>9088374
>I believe there was another anon, unless that was you, who is already working on a similar premise for the prologue.

Nice, not me, but hopefully our powers can be combined.

The idea I said I would type up is better than the 'nietzshe final boss', I think, I was just spitballing from I guess I saw that possibility mentioned, though nietzhe can still be in it. And as short as my idea might be, its late here so I may just type it tomorrow.

Are any of the main folks involved of this, you/yall have a group project email (throwaway) address floating around?

>Are any of the main folks involved of this, you/yall have a group project email (throwaway) address floating around?

I can't speak for anyone else, but I'm using [email protected] as a throwaway. If you wanna send anything there that's cool.

Also feel free to add whatever you write to the doc when its ready. I'll make sure it doesn't get deleted (as a general policy nothing that is going to be used or potentially get used gets deleted).

The way it works for writing is basically if you're the first person to actually write something for a section, or at least part of it, it's pretty much guaranteed to be used. Any contributions for that section that come after will ideally use whatever you wrote as a starting point, so it can all be fits together reasonably cohesively.

For the Stirner chapter? It looks like there's somewhere between 10 and 15 people actively contributing, be it small suggestions, larger contributions, or even just voting.

I've considered shilling the project, especially the strawpolls, in other threads but I have a feeling that might open the door to more griefing of the google doc. Watashi (the Stirner god) will ask anon, as his final ultimate judgement question etc, "Is the ego a spook?"

Personally, I like it. It opens up the chapter to basically anything. I would say though, that Anon's answer should probabbly be more than a mere 'yes' or 'no', but at least go some way to explaining why it is either a yes or a no.

I would already lean towards 'yes' as his answer, as it would 'defeat' Watashi even further, possibly even causing him to fade out of existence as I believe another anon suggested. But this is completely open to discussion.

Moving forward, there are two matters to be discussed:

1. The next chapter

The decision process for the Stirner chapter seemed to work quite well. Unless anyone objects, we will move through the next chapter, which will be the David Foster Wallace chapter, in basically the same fashion.

2. The actual writing of the Stirner/Watashi chapter

We have two options here. We can keep the Stirner doc open and complete the writing there, or move the finalised info back to the main doc, and have the writing take place there. The main reason for the latter option would be to avoid having too many docs running at once. Basically, we are deciding whether we wanna have a more chaotic/cluttered main doc, or simply operate with many simultaneous docs. Any input here would be greatly appreciated.

>>9092526
Its silly, in my opinion, as the whole point of Stirner is the only thing that is not a spook is the ego.

I think I've come up with a good way to handle all the docs and the writing of all the chapters.

The doc that is currently the Stirner chapter doc will simply become the 'writing' doc for the main sections. So all in all there will be three docs, one for the interludes and appendices, one for the planning of the main chapters, and one for the writing of the main chapters.

Each chapter will eventually move over to the writing doc as the details become finalised, just like the Stirner chapter already has (the next will be the DFW chapter).

Anyone can contribute however much they want to the writing of the main chapters, as long as they adhere to the basic details, like the name of the god for that chapter and the question they ask anon, etc. Once all the writing is done (which can take any amount of time, there is no urgency) we can curate it and organise it into something that resembles chapters with a basic narrative structure.

I'll relaunch the Stirner doc as just the 'writing doc' some time today, and the next thread will begin with all three in the OP.

I'm aware that Imgur.com will stop allowing adult images since 15th of May. I'm taking actions to backup as much data as possible.
