Thought he was going to say "Why do I support the foxes?" at the start, based on OP.

I think at this point in time any strong action is a good action. This makes me favorable for DiEM25 without even knowing the exact program. We'll learn something and, depending on the actual ideology and goals of the people involved, they can't really make it worse than the powers pushing the buttons right now.
>>
Can someone explain why the far left hates mainstream EU politics so much? They deride it as 'liberal' but I'm not sure I see it. Most euro countries appear to be socialist in economics and thoroughly leftist in their general cultural outlook. What are they trying to replace it with? I don't get what the prevailing order lacks that left-wing thought generally demands.

What does he say? I have no sound in my computer.

This barely sounds different from what the European far-right agitates for...

I'd say he says
>To solve the issue (capitalistic drives and imbalance, non-transpant money flow, etc.) what does not work is instigating a strong head (a stronger EU wide government) governing that capitalistic system. Instead the ruling capacity should be able to also change more of the core of the system itself. He supports the DiEM25 program so far as they'll pull through with their initial demands.

Don't cite me on that though, Zizek takes up too much words for me to follow his point

>A compulsory register for lobbyists that includes their clients’ names, their remuneration, and a record of meetings with officials (both elected and unelected)

What did he mean by this?
>>
>>7683390
Irrational fiscal policy and obscure dealing outside of democracy.
>>
>>7683390
just ask for the reasons of the developement of income distribution
And in German/Austria/..etc. you have minimum wage almost overlapping with unemployment benefits, if you work a bad job 40h a week you get barely more than if you're unemployed
>>
>>7683477
>What did he mean by this?
Freedom and rights and transparancy and so on
But really though it's a meme, it's satire. Zizek is smart enough to know there is no fixing things.
>>
>people laughing as soon as he appears
Zizek's mannerisms are his downfall. These stupid university students go to his shit just for the memes and think he is some bumbling fool. No wonder he dislikes most of the interactions he has with those types; they never listen to what he says, they wouldn't understand it anyway as they are only there for memes and not as serious learners, and they just fucking laugh at him.
>>
>>7683567
Are they, dare I say it, neck deep in today's pure ideology: narcissism?

PURE IDEOLOGY

I would guess those people are the people Zizek criticized with not doing anything and just endlessly talking and so on, but of course without realizing it themselves and then thinking themselves to be on some kind of high ground as moral saviors of the world but more importantly the flawed, or as they say, problematic Western world and so on.
>>
Seeing as how he's involved with DiEM and has spoken with Zizek previously, what's /lit/'s opinion on Varufakis?
>>
>>7683511
That just isn't true, though. If you're on minimum wage you get additional supports such as rent allowance which makes it worth your while working.
>>
>>7683582
I'd say so. I haven't even read Zizek, don't feel knowledgable enough yet, but I've watched a lot of his stuff and you say to yourself "Yeah I understand it" and you learn something and get a new perspective on something mundane and ordinary in life...but then you read some analysis of his shit and you realise he has several different ideas going on with that one thing you thought you understood and it's a lot deeper than you think. His work seems very esoteric, The Sublime Object of Ideology seems like a "Godel, Escher, Bach" type of epic work. I'll probably never understand it well enough to be able to critique it well. It's like 4chan and general readers think Infinite Jest is amazing and so deep and complex but someone like Harold Bloom sees it differently, and you think oh he's just contrarian! But you never understand the depth guys like him are working at as a layman and someone who hasn't put in the effort.

It's a meme you dip.
>>
>>7683389
>can't really make it worse
Anon, you should acquaint yourself with the history of promises made by the left.
>>
>>7683601
You're completely correct. The irony at his events would be palpable. I feel bad for him.
>>7683609
He shouldn't be so famous. I don't feel bad for saying that as he seems to hate fame. His mannerisms turned him into a meme when, all jokes aside, he is very studied and intellectual, whether he is correct in his worldview or not. Now all that's happened is he is well-known and misunderstood in his views due to a pleb audience (myself included in that), something I am sure he dislikes.
>>7683615
No it's not outside 4chan. The reason it became a meme on here is because of its reputation as a 'smart' book so people liked to recommend it and say it is their favourite book. Anyway, 4chan is hardly a place filled with erudite intellectuals, I highly doubt all praise for Infinite Jest on here is satirical. /lit/ loves DFW.

>I highly doubt all praise for Infinite Jest on here is satirical. /lit/ loves DFW.
I guess that is, sadly, true in the grander scheme of things. It does irk me when I can't figure out if someone is being serious when talking about DFW and Infinite Jest or not. I know when I see it as number 1 on those /lit/ recommends lists or whatever that it's definitely a joke, but then you see anons seemingly seriously defending it.
>>
>>7683447
How?
Isn't the far right in strong favor of autonomous/national governing?

Even /lit/ is 95% morons...

I always fail to understand what the fuck this guy is trying to say, to much sniffing and weird sounds. It reminds me of those african languages made of squealing sounds. Is he perpetually on crack/coke? The fuck is wrong with him?

wwow another 'democratic' leftist movement that I'm sure won't collapse due to factional infighting and ressentiment induced apathy

>I can't figure out if someone is being serious when talking about DFW and Infinite Jest or not
and there's something terribly sad and banal about that
