What are some books with captivating non bookish dialogue? I'm looking for something I can read out loud to work on my autism.

Bonus points: Original is in German (inb4 Faust)

Thanks friends

Humble bump. Anything witty. Simple. In a dialogue.

Right. What I'm looking for is witty dialogue that could serve as inspiration to improve my communication skills and amiability. Not some picture perfect prose, not that there's anything wrong with that.

You would practice tying your shoes by walking.

Talk to people if that's what you need to practice.

Everything Gaddis wrote--The Recognitions, JR, A Frolic of His Own--all of it--had superb dialogue.

Not to sound rude but I'm not going to discuss alternatives, I know what the advantages to my approach are (in my situation and nowhere else) and I would be grateful if you could help me out with some books recommendations instead of stating the obvious. Sorry if that came across as standoffish, I don't know how else to put it. Books pls.

I know exactly what you are looking for:
Cogan's Trade by George V. Higgins

The book is mostly very realistic dialogue, and also a cool crime story. They even made a movie from it: killing them softly (great too)

Sounds great. Ordered it right away together with Gaddis' Recognitions. Thank you so much.
