In what order should I read his works?
I've only read Demian so far.
demian -> siddhartha -> steppenwolf -> narcissus and goldmund -> jouney to the east (optional) -> glass bead game

just read Siddhartha and then Steppenwolf
It really doesn't matter at all what order you read them in. Almost all of his books are the same essence in different garb. Just pick the garb that interests you the most.

I've read Siddhartha, Narcissus and Goldmund, Demian, Peter Camenzind, Steppenwolf and a short story collection under the name Stories from Five Decades.
And you didn't read the book that brought it all together that also happened to his best book and most original? baka senpai
also demian is nothing like the rest, and narcissus and goldmund shares a little bit with steppenwolf and siddhartha. his works build upon each other and you should read them in order.
the only work of his that feels derivative/repetitive is journey to the east, which is a less sophisticated way of saying what he more successfully said in glass bead game

>In what order should I read his works
Honestly, unless you're really interested in watching his artistic development or something like that, it doesn't really matter. He's a fiction writer, not a philosopher.
