Seeing this photo reminds me of when we read this shitty book in high school senior year. There was a qt 3.14 in that class but I never grew the balls to ask her out to prom and then she ended going with someone else. /wastedyouth/ ;_;
I used to look up to him when I was a teen (along with my girlfriend at the time who turned out to be a huge cunt). That being said, now that I am older I think he's an idiot but still like him. I credit him for being not all talk and actually following his heart but the least he could have done is learn a little about wilderness survival before heading to Alaska. He only died like a few miles from civilization too.
>>7574329 He was like a Neet with some nads. Disliked the system and didn't give a fuck about living his own life. Bummer that he wasn't quite prepared enough to survive and produce critiques of modern life out of his bus.
He was selfish but I thought his story was inspiring. Do what makes you happy, find your own purpose in life, and fuck the rest. He was in over his head, but he would have walked out of there alive that river wasn't raging.
If you enjoyed this book, read The Wild Truth by his sister Carine. They really had a fucked up, dysfunctional life at home growing up. Makes it much easier to understand why he left like that.
