Always a desktop. You get more bang for you buck plus you can really customize it. Since you're not technical, find someone who custom builds rigs for a living. Don't skimp on the vid card or processing power. You can find people who do good custom rigs with reviews online if you don't have any good local shop. Also, make sure what it comes with.
