Well it's better than in Bosnia or Serbia or even further east. So there's at least that. And there are LGBT organizations, too. And if you're in a large city (mostly the capital, Zagreb) there are LGBT groups.

It was my full time career (writing and editing) until I stopped publishing about 5 months ago because I lost interest, so what was funding my travel expenses and stuff is now little more than a broken construct and dead hobby in my subconscious. I make very little off it anymore. It's a sour spot on my ego for sure, but I still fondly hang out in my fictional paracosm from time to time. Tonight might be one of those nights - my date just canceled, so that sucks. Depends what drugs are around I suppose, probably just beer and weed. I even bought pickles for her ;(

It's super tough to make decent money writing fiction, but the romance and specifically lesbian stuff is always a good marketing strategy. Especially if you niche into erotica on Amazon, I'm pretty sure you can still make a decent bit, despite their changes to the structured pay system and royality percents.

The long term goal is still to make my stuff into an anime and then sell my own fan-fiction erotica as side cannon.
