I always tell people I get involved with that I'm bi for similarly simple reasons. First is that it's fun to joke about being "buy-curious" etc. Second is that gay dating scenes are very promiscuous and fast, so I can afford to filter out people that aren't cool with what I am. So back in the old days (like pre 80's, so 50's and before. When I say before, Im referring to like, the dark ages, roman times, etc.) Some lesbians that couldn't hide themselves in feminine dress and roles decided to dress as men so they wouldn't be murdered or whatever they did to lesbians in whatever era we are referring to for "laying with another woman". This persisted until modern times and became a way to signal other lesbians. Now, heres a weird little part to it: the idea of a woman displaying masculinity was a turn on for some women and women who dress in a butch or dapper style enjoy and feel comfortable dressing like that.
So in a way its a product of the pressure of genders rolls on women (also it happened to homosexual men but that evolved differently and no it didn't evolve into trannies being a thing. Thats entirely different) throughout history and the evolved preferences of women who, over the years, enjoy the concept of masculinity applied to a person (because contrary to popular thought, masculinity, femininity and whatever lies between can exist independent of sex) but sexually are attracted to women. Also, I feel like this is also a naturally occurring human preference with examples that can be noted throughout history, as in its not in genetic memory, its just a likely pattern of attraction for lesbians. I guess....

Basically this used to be decent paced, but then the discord opened up and sucked all the good folks over there. Don't get me wrong, I was lucky enough to get in, and it is wonderful in there.
