So I just called my primary care doctor since I remembered that for my follow-up visit with my endo requires another referral or else they cannot make the appointment due to insurance coverage. I'm not going to pursue the second opinion I requested until after I see this current endo again and discuss AA. In the meantime, what should I expect if I keep applying these estrogen (0.1mg) patches for a month? I know it's most likely nothing, but would this be enough for them to get whatever information they seek should I take a blood test?

I just turned 18 and there's all these gender dysphoric thoughts just floating around my mind on a daily basis. The only times I feel attractive is when I shave my legs and wear cute socks and I've been steadily losing weight in attempt to become more lithe and feminine. I got a reference to a gender clinic but the wait time is 150 days. I'm not 100% sure I want to be the other sex, but there's too many signs to just ignore it.

Alright so I checked around online. Self medicating is heavily dissuaded and prescribed hormone therapy (at least here) is paired with check-ups (blood tests for example.)

Hormones are also decently expensive (from the looks of it) and I think transgender care is part of the basic healthcare here.

And it's definitely scary. Because those two pills do a bunch of things to your body that EVEN WITH proper research and understanding of the effects of HRT it's gonna be unpredictable and personally, that's terrifying to me. I also live at home with 2 siblings and my parents, which slightly complicates things. swallowing pills is totally scary.

idk maybe I'm just holding onto the idea of NOT doing HRT too much, but I think that seeing a team of specialists, talking and getting everything straight followed by professionally administered therapy is WAY more preferable than self medicating.

there's nothing dangerous or unpredictable about hrt at all. you just take them and slowly change. that's it. you're thinking about this way too much and scaring yourself over non factors.

its really simple do you want to be more masculine? if yes do nothing. do you want to stop getting more masculine? then take hrt there is no getting past that. because all the therapy in the world won't stop that testosterone running through your body of making you look and sound more manly as the years March on.

I am mostly just afraid of not getting the dosage right. I am getting closer to self-medicating, but seeing as I've played this by the book for some time I'd like to see how much longer I can get before I say fuck it and self-med. Someone here last night said it takes at least a month for the E to settle or some shit so I am thinking of waiting at least 1 month before I presume that blood test and schedule the appointment sooner than expected so I can ask about AA. It will also be the one that would either convince me to either self-med or not, but I suppose I could buy Spiro so I have it standing by.

Again though, I don't know what dosage to get.
