OP, it's really hard at first, and even harder when you can't control what your parents are going to say or how they're going to react. But if you know you won't get kicked out or cut off, coming out to your parents really is so freeing. Not only can you live, you can also start fighting.

Have you thought about letters or e-mails first, or any way to keep yourself from being there at the beginning of it all? Giving them time to process it may make the initial conversation go better. I would also suggest emotionally appealing to them instead of relying on scientific data, but that would entirely depend on if your parents respond more to emotion or logic.

Either way, good luck anon. This is the good fight, and it's worth it.

99.999% of all parents will love their kids no matter what. Its biologically ingrained.

It doesn't mean they will understand transgender issue, and they might feel hurt or confused or like you are choosing to be trans on purpose. Its a difficult thing to accept, just as it might be difficult for you to accept if a parent told you that they were trans now and to respect their pronouns. But if they love you as their son they will still love you as their daughter, just like if you love your dad you'd still love him as mom.

Of course. But they love you as your identified sex as well. That's where we have sayings like "a face only a mother can love" etc. Parents love for their kids go beyond reason.

Even in the case of abusive parents, its more often that they have messed up ways of expressing their love due to warped upbringings they themselves received, not that they hate their children.

I doubt a parent will say that. HOWEVER, if they did (and I doubt they will), it could very well be that they see that transgenderism is an unhealthy choice and if they yell and say hateful things they can make their child change this choice.

But again:

1) I don't think OP parent will do this. No reason to jump to a worse case scenario.

2) Even though I do think abusive parents are still mostly loving of their children deep down, you don't need to put up with abusive behavior. I had an ex-boyfriend who was abusive of me, and I left him. I don't doubt that he loved me but he couldn't show that love in a healthy way (for me or for him). Ultimately, if a parent acts abusive you can decide when its too much and to walk away. Not because they don't love you or you don't love them, but because its not healthy and its hurting you.
