So I have this idea. What if I commissioned someone to manufacture pistol grips for a CZ Rami made out of bakelite or plum from a magazine?

Would it easily crack or split? The grips are pretty small and not too hard to shape. Might be a little thin, but I don't think it'd be too bad.

Just imagine some nice bakelite or a well worn plum grip on it. I think it would look pretty cool.

Thoughts and suggestions?

Fairly comfortable to hold, the grip is longer than a glock 26. You can get only 3 fingers on the rami, but you dont feel like the gun will slip out of your hand.
Recoil isnt bad for a subcompact gun, fairly easy to make follow up shots.
Your p01 is without a doubt a better range gun, but ive carried the rami for 3 (going on 4) years of university and its painfully easy to hide under your clothes.
If youre a fan of slavshit and ccw the rami is right up your alley.
Or you could do the smart thing and get a glock 43

I originally wanted the Rami over the P01, but had this one pop up local for a good price. Don't regret buying it, but I'd like the Rami now just so it's easier to CC as well as smaller for my wife to handle. I continually offer to buy her an LC9 or any other small compact 9mm or .380 minimum, but she's insistent that she doesn't need one when mine is at home most of the time with her while I'm at work.

It'll take some getting used to with the smaller grip. That's why I wasn't that big a fan of my old LC9, but hopefully with an aluminum frame the weight helps somewhat for recoil.

I was also toying with the idea of buying a Bulgarian mak and a couple mags and ammo instead after I sell my P01.

I wanted one of the VEPR RPKs but waited too long and missed out. I was pissed but I did grab a FIME folder in 5.45 and it's a heavy pig. I can't imaging the full weight of the RPK version with the long barrel and bipod. That said, I want a bipod.

1. What options do I have for mounting a bipod? They do make railed plastic handguards, side and bottom. A quad would be too heavy.

2. What are some good lightweight bipods? Are side mounted bipods worth as shit? Grip pods?

3. I have the polymer RPKS stock, will it fit and should I swap them?

I'm not sure I even want the long barrel anymore. Honestly, I have a sour taste from missing out when the VEPR RPKs were sold. This gun is lighter and I do want a bipod because it would look retarded with the clubfoot and no bipod. I think the clubfoot I have might be plum but I have the hand guard to match.

No anon, you want the long barrel. In any case, the clubfoot looks better than the wannabe-galil stock that's on there. This is from when I was first gathering parts for my RPK, before I got the proper barrel assembly. Honestly, I wouldn't mind having a 16" 5.45 with a folding clubfoot, would just need some fab work on the gas block and the front sight replaced.

Why? Also, why replace the front sight? I doubt it adds anything to accuracy and it's barrel flax as long as it is with a bipod on it. It's cool for authenticity but it's not really authentic with a Bulgarian barrel or whatever other Frankenstein setup I would end up with. Better to keep the 16" barrel and hope that by some miracle they sell the real 1Vs here again in the future. So I need a lightweight bipod, handguard-mounted bipod, as I first posted about. Surely some of you guys have experience with bipods.

My first build was an ak63d and it was smooth, I think ufs are comfy. You might check if you're getting excessive rear trunnion impact from the carrier by putting some painters tape or something next time you shoot (should barely kiss the rear, not beat the shit out of it). If it's cycling too violently there is a dude on the files that sells extra-strength recoil springs you can swap into your assembly. Is it a build or a factory rifle?

It depends on the shooting youre doing. Rests are great for bench shooting, thats about it. Bipods are more versatile.
Also, some consider shooting from a rest takes less skill, and rightfully so, bc the gun is just sitting there and the shooter is just pulling the trigger. Using a bipod for precision shooting definitely takes practice

I don't think Bipod Guy seems to realize that the issue isn't necessarily "bipods are bad," it's "handguard-mounted bipods are bad on AKs" since AKs have short handguards close to the center of the gun, meaning you're not even really getting the support near the muzzle end that you're presumably using a bipod for in the first place. That's why G3s, FALs, and RPKs have folding bipods with the attachment point a few inches or less from the muzzle.

I want to put a PK-A red dot on my M77, I understand that Yugo AKs use a different rail than most AKs, that can accept a standard AK clamp, but it will sit further back than it should.
Is this going to be a big issue with the red dot? Kalinka has AK and SVD versions of the PK-A, but the SVD version costs an extra 130 bucks since it looks like it has a laser and flashlight.
