Considering some of those rifles are older than some of the posters here...I'm not real concerned. Old Remington stuff is great, especially the magnum wingmasters and 1187s.

Having owned a newer Remington 870 for keks, I won't defend the absolute nosedive they have taken. Still a functional shotgun, but the fit and finish was laughable.

I'll go ahead and admit it, setting up my guns to run with Wolff XP Springs, requiring me to drill out the gas port and to drill out the switch on the upper, was a bad idea and I regret doing it. I have seen no improvement in reliability, my 10.3 is no more reliable than my 14.5 which is running a standard spring.
It's just a lot of extra work for apparently no gain and I'm ready to go back, I just need the money to go back.
I would have to get new barrels, new muzzle devices, new switches for the war uppers, and if I'm doing all that I might as well send in my suppressor to get remade and get a LMT bolt for the 10.3

All in all it's about $2k to achieve perfection after having already thought I achieved perfection.

Your optic is QD so normal irons are fine, and getting into the habit of rotating your rifle to fire can be a bad one to break

A good red dot is worth its weight in gold and a shitty one will fuck you when you need it most. You can get a used Aimpoint CompM4 on ebay for $275-$300 or so if you shop carefully

If it were me, I'd ditch the cheek riser since it's extra weight and provides no real benefit over just having a consistent cheek weld - a piece of duct tape will help you there, with no weight.

However, in the end it's yours so you do you.

His optic is fine man. For budget options the Primary Arms stuff is great. So if he wants to have an ACOG style sight without ACOG money, he's definitely right there.

I would recommend regular irons though, since he has a QD mount for his optic, As well as looking at getting a light for his setup.

The cheapest way would be a GSG9 upper ($1899) + incorrect pictogram lower from some random company ($100) + Stock and grip from HK parts ($300-$600 depending on options) + stamp. Would fool everyone but a seasoned observer.

Middle ground would be chopping an MR556 and changing out a couple other small pieces. Which would cost MR556 + $800 or so

If you want legit 416 parts expect to pay $2500-$3000 for a used set or $3000-$4500 for unfired. Depends on configuration and parts included. If your autism is even harder you could track down a cnc warrior 80% (closer to 60%) 416 lower with the proper squared off magwell. Then finish that, etch in HK marks and then file a stamp on it.

Just got to the point on my AR where I actually feel happy about it. I have about $650 saved up as of now to spend on gun shit. I know a lot of you guys have other guns besides ARs. I was thinking of picking up either an AK or a PTR 91. I still consider my AR as my go to rifle but what rifles do you guys have that are still really fun to shoot and interesting?
