Can't please everybody. People just won't accept that the current market value for Russian plums is somewhere around $55. You see them for $65 and people just scramble for them.

What do you guys think of these? From everything I can see from an hour or so of research plus what my coworker who bought one recently was telling me he had found out about em seems like a pretty solid entry level rifle? Same guy that linked the cheese grater+dong WASR last thread. Only two decent AKs I see within reasonable distance of me on armslist

They're pretty much WASRs with FS/GB combos. Both are made by Cugir. No real reason to get a combo FSB/GB unless you're going to SBR it, all you're doing is reducing the sight radius

Literally just a WASR with combination FSB/gas block. The description that guy wrote up is pretty Jewy though and he clearly has trash tastes when it comes to furniture. Still, not too bad.

Chimps just had his done by JBI. He seems to like it but they kept his original FCG which is kinda bullshit.

I had my '83 done by Meridian Ordnance. Took quite a while - 6 months - but they did a good job of it and Mike was really patient with me being annoying constantly and asking questions about every little thing. He also did a great job of preserving the original finish. Meridian sent back all my unused parts too, per my request. I paid $637 for my build and finish, but I also had him do a bit of extra work to convert a non-folding front trunnion into one that'd accept the pin and latch. The price also included a fresh Arsenal FCG since I didn't send him one, so if you have your own >922r parts to send it'd probably be cheaper.

Just send them what they need. Figure out how many compliance parts you need and just send them that; you can include the original FCG and just tell Mike to make a note to return the original FCG parts if any go unused. The only American parts he used on my gun were the ones I told him to use (read: my FCG and receiver). I sent him a mag for test firing as well with a US floorplate and follower. That was all he needed, and the gun came back as original as possible. He even kept the original serial fill since I asked him to.

Did you use a US barrel? They are supposed to be using a certain amount of US parts because of the faggy 922r. they may have replaced your gas piston and muzzle device since those count towards the parts.

Nope, used a new Bulgarian barrel. You only really need 6 US parts off the parts list to be compliant for 922r on an AK; the FCG counts as 3 of them. FCG (3) + receiver (1) + floorplate (1) + follower (1) = 6.

Exactly the one I needed.

I'm looking to build another polish receiver with wood furniture into something as black as night...but the biggest problem is that I can't seem to find anything other than this timbersmith shit when searching for black wood furniture for an AKM.

I know that Duraseal has a stain called "true black" which is something I could use on a lighter or more neutral wood color, but finding a wood that would best absorb the stain as an untreated stock set is beyond what I know about wood.

Does someone here have a direction to send me looking?
>>
>>35005784
Get some paint and paint it black? You'll NEVER be able to get wood stained as black as you'll want it.

Strip it and use wood bleach for the lightest shade, use actual wood bleach, Clorox will get it mostly there but to get a really pale color you need the good stuff http://www.popularwoodworking.com/projects/bleaching-wood
Using iron oxide to get a really deep black is called ebonizing, look into that too.

Ok anon, if ammo isn't kill how cheap do we think it's gonna be with a flood in the market. Also would it just be ammo coming in or could we see some rifles come in too.
>>
>>35005935
If it's not kill, literally nothing changes for the time being. If it is, 5.45 becomes a secondhand-only commodity for the foreseeable future, and 7.62x39/7.62x54r becomes significantly more expensive and/or harder to find.
>>
>>35005935
The stuff that's already coming in is the most we'll see come in from Russia. The older sanctions are what killed all the Russian gun imports, including the recent Molot stuff.
>>
>>35005935
It won't change anything other than make it less unobtanium. Its mainly leveled towards companies that were caught doing stuff like Molot
>>

Shot my v12 for the 2nd time today. Would not cycle once. Fired the same high brass buckshot and regular birdshot that I had the first time I shot it.

Experience my first time shooting was that the first couple mags needed to be hand cycled, but by the end of the day I could dump a full 10rds of birdshot no problem. Very disappointing.

Take the optic off and try it again.
Or put it much farther back.
People complain about ejection issues when they have the optic mounted right above the "ejection port" (for lack of a better term).
Also, while you're sitting around, rack the action about 500 times.
>>
>>35005820
If you want ebony furniture you basically need to a) pony up for a block large enough and get it worked (shit blunts tools like crazy) or b) salvage some ebony furniture which will most likely be more than a wood block of the stuff

>>
>>35006700
Now that you mention it, I remember reading about that when I was first looking into buying one. Damn. Wonder how far back the optic needs to go?

I also got to test the Polychoke out. With buckshot the group seemed pretty big at 50 yards, even at the tightest setting. Kind of made the spread into a tight wide line. Choke worked itself loose by the end of the day.
>>
>>35006632
Make sure you lean into it, and get a lighter spring if you're mainly going to shoot light stuff, once its been cycled a bunch it'll work great.
>>
>>35006979
Think mostly I'll be shooting that S&B 2 3/4 buckshot that SGammo sells cheap. That shit makes such a huge smoke cloud that I thought something must have gone wrong, but it was just the powder.

I think the other anon is right about the optic above the ejection port. First time I shot I didn't have an optic on it. I put it on afterwards

Back again with some wood furniture questions (I'm the faux-ebony guy from >>35005784)

Some of the cheaper pieces I see that are "real" wood are surplus kits from Atlantic (or gundeals.com, which I've never heard of before), and using the strip/bleach/ebonize method seems to be the best route (thanks to >>35005912 and >>35006810 for that plan).

Before I dive right in I want to verify that the beech wood would be able to hold the stain, but everything I found is saying that beech turns out spotty. Alternatives include not knowing *what kind* of wood it is or having laminated wood, which is a new thing to me.

Am I even doing this researching shit right?

Shooting skeet with mine tonight so it's here with me at work. I usually only have an occasional malfunction when I get it many hundreds of rounds dirty and there's piles of carbon to be scraped from the gas system. It'll do birdshot all day even at it's dirtiest, but I just can't be surprised if a last round in the mag gets returned to the chamber once during the night. The BHO must put just enough extra resistance on it to cause it.

The 100 series guns can be weird, they use both dimpled and pinned components for them. I'm not sure what the reason behind swapping back and forth between them is but neither is considered incorrect for the 104 or 105

That's because it's a virgin part. The dimples are applied as a fastening method to attach the parts to the barrel. If the part has never been installed on a barrel then it's not going to have dimples.

What do people do with the blocks that were completely drilled through when disassembled? I guess I figured the dimples on mine were pilot marks being that there isn't any deformation on the interior
>>
>>35010151
Yes, I think you're right about the pilot marks. Same deal for the pin hole pilot.

The ones that were drilled all the way through are usually welded closed, and then drilled again to mock up some fake dimples.

Some people like In Range will weld them like that on the barrel and call it a day. I prefer a pin being used somewhere.

Beechwood should take the dye fine, you can try to use acetone to strip surface oil, letting it dry and then applying dye to be extra sure

Check out strike hard gear, 7.62 Tactical, and warrior assault systems. The first two will (or at least used to) to my knowledge, do custom jobs to tailor it to your preference. Have to email them about it first though to be sure.

Lee Armory Romanian "bfpu"

it was a kinda sudden impulse purchase as i was looking at getting a wood akm since i don't have one.
i got it on sale for 599 vs 699

overall im really happy with it so far

going from a house with a backyard i can shoot in to a small apartment in the city is some feels bad shit.

>>
>>35011716
yeah, bulgarian. I got it from classic firearms for $280 with a discount code. Picked up the holster and spare mag seperate. It shoots great and the recoil isn't bad, the only thing thats bugging me is that it hurts the web inbetween my thumb and index finger after shooting it enough. Wonder if there's a way around that pain, maybe get gloves to shoot with it. also yes, manlet hands.
>>
>>35011724
havnt shot it yet but it looks pretty great. The FFL lads said they heard good things from lee armory. But u guys here told me they are crooks or something.

so idk like i said it was an impulse purchase with not too much research
>>
>>35011729
it'll be worth it in the end. also, nice chicken. I need a leash for mine, seems cool

Nice. I'd really like a ((10)) marked Bulgarian, currently have the Arsenal commercial one. Straight blowback pistols have the same tendency to affect the webbing on my hand, gloves should help. Pic related is an absolute bitch to shoot, maybe the only firearm purchase I regret.

i'm like 5'3-5'4, so hands are pretty small cause of that. it doesn't bother me though, never have had an issue with it except for when I was in like eighth grade. also short qts actually tend to like me being close to their height.

I could build an ak 102 from a 105 kit, no? Other than barrel, i'd be in the clear?

750+rnds for 200. Not really into collecting ammo and it has sat for a long time doing nothing.

It's only known as the "Galil " to Americans. To the rest of the world it's the Ace. Still a legit military rifle. Regardless of how it looks. I actually like it.

Also, fuck year, my Aimpoint came in.

With the brake pinned yes it is. When chopped it will be 12.5"

PT-1 folds and locks with RS installed.
