Holy shit anon. Stop whatever you think you're doing right now. It looks like you have no reason or plan for whatever kit your buying. So just stop right now and lurk. Your current kit is airsoft tier at best.

First, the FLC is the biggest POS ever created. it's horrible as load bearing equipment.

if you want lbe without looking retarded and eating up real estate on your body get an Alice belt and suspenders. It holds your gear and doesn't get in the way of other shit. When I went to mountain warfare. Instructors authorized us to wear whatever we wanted as long as we could carry our shit. Alice gear was perfect. Minimalist with ability to scale up. And when I needed to get to my climbing equipment on my hip I had nothing in the way because if you wear your rucksack/assault pack tight it when you move it pinches the excess material in the FLC blocking vision and generally getting in the way.

Plus only time people wear the FLC is in training. So you just look like a breast milk drinking scrub.

So get a PC or battle belt or both. Or stop polluting /GQ/

Also I bet you're noguns.

Lol, talk about constructive criticism...
1st) the camo and bdu's match my area pretty well and I got them both for free.

2nd) I plan to have it just to mess around with as a baseline, and it's not close to done. I still have other pieces coming in.

3rd) I'm not nogunz I've been shooting for 5 years and am just now looking into gear. Plus I don't ever plan on buying a plate carrier since I won't be Frontline fighting anytime soon.

And I thought this was a place to learn a little, I guess not?

I like them, they have a lot of features that make you go "huh thats smart" and the G1000 (lighter parts of my pants) is a heavy canvas like fabric that is pretty bulletproof as far as wear is concerned. I've slid down rocks in them and rolled around in broken glass/brass pretty extensively and it hasnt really impacted them. The stretch material (green parts of my pants) is a really nice stretch in all of the important areas however it does feel a little less robust than the G1000 so if you deal with obstacles that would impact the stretch areas like straddling a lot of 3 wire fences I could see them getting beat up. Another item to note is that they are canvas/stretch pants so they arent 100% waterproof. Fine in light rain but if you're innajungle you might want something better.

Overall I'd rank them a solid 8/10 with points taken away for the belt loops being very snug 2" loops

you're either baiting or autistic and trying to back out of it by saying we're mean. I hope you're being for real because I don't want to fall for such obvious looking bait in hindsight. Ok, I just got home and after re-reading what I have said... I think I might have brain problems. My bad, guess it is a little bit of being a gear newfag and maybe a little autism thrown in...

To restate in better terms, the IFAK was for camping, hiking, and in the car for emergencies. And I was thinking about getting one for the rig?

And after rethinking and looking, maybe the FLC might not be as gucci as I first thought. So besides the ALICE what would be a good set up for an AK/AR-15 chest rig?

>>
>>34922465
Like >>34918979 said, ALICE is a great intro setup that will let you figure out what you don't need. Take a look at this for examples:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/USGI-Military-Lot-MED-PISTOL-WEB-BELT-CANTEEN-AMMO-POUCH-ALICE-CLIPS-MORE-VG-/280385226235?hash=item41484305fb:m:mGXR0Zr1HYs7Aajx6Q3JLDw

The belts and pouches are extremely cheap so you can piece together your own rig on a budget. I wouldn't bother with a separate chest rig to start out.

A lot of people do a chest rig + battle belt combo eventually.

An IFAK is a kit you carry in immediate proximity for gunshot wounds, or other serious injuries where seconds count. It should color-match or camo match with your gear but still be distinguishable (eg, a red cross) so that someone else can grab it and treat you if needed. See the sticky for contents. A bigger FAK can be blaze orange or whatever you want. Hiking and camping aren't the same as GQing.

I mentioned heat stroke because big insultating layers should be able to shed quickly. For example, the M65 jackets are sized to fit on top of gear, not the other way around.

>I have giant ass hip bones.

Mainly what I was trying to figure out is the sizes on the outer belt go from 35.5 end to end to 41.5 end to end.

Do you want the ends to almost touch, or do you want some gap on the front? I dont know how battle belts are supposed to properly fit.

Rip, hope you the best in getting rid of that.
>Do you want the ends to almost touch, or do you want some gap on the front? I dont know how battle belts are supposed to properly fit.
Depends on your waist, a man with a 28in waist wearing a small battle belt (28-30) will have the ends basically touching, while someone with a 30in waist will have a gap. It's really all preference as long as they're not overlapping or too short. Also HSGI has a video on sizing, although it seems like 41.5 will be too long.
>pic related, not me but peep their battle belt setups.

Also another "tip", look into minimal belts like the Tyr gunfighter, Ronin senshi/TF/Warrior, and Raptor ODIN.

nope they are different. they made pouches for 30 round mags during the m1967 stuff but not enough of them. guys in special forces during vietnam used canteen pouches and chicoms to hold 30 round mags.
>>34923542
only if you wear it above your hips tightly and do pic related to make it comfortable . i wouldn't recommend it because the suspenders really distribute the weight better and keep the belt from shifting.

The canteen pouches were also used to hold a whole bunch of Dutch made miniature grenades called V40, according a book I read recently that had interviews with MACV-SOG guys.

Under the V40 miniature grenades from Netherlands, what is the canister cylinders? Are they diversion devises similar to "flashbang" or this device used to simulate firefight? Noisemaking explosives? Tiny smoke grenades? I am not familiar with these.

Honestly you can get yourself set up pretty good with a modified Chicom rig or even of those SADF rigs.
Don't feel like you need to have 9001 lines of MOLLE on everything either, but in case you do, look at some of the Tactical Tailor stuff or even Condor (inb4 everyone shits on Condor).
I'm a poorfag so I haven't really considered anything at the $200 range, my first gear was an ALICE Y harness and then I got a Chicom. Sometimes I wear them both with the Chicom overtop of the ALICE harness.

I see both your points. I think what the anti multicam stance is getting at is. it almost comes off as too sterile.

Vietnam and what early Afghanistan Iraq invasion has this "Do more with less" appeal to it.

You have very similar traits, no ROE, dudes basically going full on native. I've heard from a friend about a group of Marines that went native with very little resupply for the majority of their deployment. One of them event wanted to adopt a kid he saved.

Multicam sort of makes me think of how OEF OIF became basically a procedure. The war became a routine for alot and the army made it that way. Don't get me wrong most of my current kit is multicam. Because it's what the army allows. But Desert BDUs, Alice packs and early OEF gear has a place in my heart and the bottom of my gear trunk.

Multicam black is a meme. If you like the aesthetics of it, buy it, but most other patterns available outclass it. Even those blue/grey/black DPM patterns that get issued to Russian and Middle Eastern cops work better at night time than multicam black at night time because blues blend better in darkness. The only time I've ever seen it being used outside of marketing photos is by one SWAT team in my state that is notoriously mallninja, by gear queers who have it as a hobby thing rather than a professional thing, and by USN SEALs who were wearing it to blend in with the Iraqi special operations guys who wear plain-old black ACUs (which is the same reason MARSOC was wearing M81 woodland when they were trundling about with the ANA).

Alice stuff looks good but I wore that shit in Boot Camp. I can unequivocally say that that stuff is uncomfortable as hell. You spend a tremendous amount of time adjusting things and it's not even all that modular. I don't know what that guy was sperging about earlier but the load bearing vest, the new generation of them, is 100 times more comfortable. It is literally a giant battle PALS covered belt with thick straps to help distribute the way at the top. I don't know what his drill instructors did to him in Boot Camp with that thing on but if he thinks Alice equipment is more comfortable than that he is smoking crack. The only valid argument he brought up is about it bunching up when you put a backpack on but that happens with literally all loadbearing equipment. If you want to minimize that just and keep Molle pals modularity just get a minimalist chest rig like the HSGI. AO chest rig or the tactical tailor one

>attach the holster directly to the MOLLE with Bawidaman's PUP mounting system
>get a battle belt that is slotted and pull the belt over several sections of MOLLE webbing so you can mount the holster directly to the belt
>get a low-pro MOLLE belt like the Tyr Tactical Gunfighter
>get a G-Code Battle Belt mount and attach it to the MOLLE of the battle belt, then attach the holster via G-Code RTI system
>use a battle belt with an opening under the MOLLE (such as the old style pre-slotted HSGI sure grip belts or the Crye Precision MRB) to attach a low-ride or drop leg holster, either on a screw in duty drop mount like Blade Tech and Safariland make, or on a G-Code RTI drop or a Safariland QLS fork mounted on a duty drop panel
Hope this helps. Excuse my poor English. I'm still learning.

Sperg from earlier. I've been traveling so I don't have anything to do besides shitpost all hours of the day. I personally find the FLC belt to be garbage. I ended up flipping it completely around so the buckles are in the back and use it as shit tier chest rig also you can use all the front molle real estate without having to worry about the zipper. Bunching up only really happens with the vests because nothing is keeping it in place. With a PC you have the plates keeping it where it is. I think my main hate for the FLC just comes from using it in training, POGs and maybe I'm just conditioned to see it as having no combat applications. I agree with your recommendation at the bottom though.

>>
>>34925747
I wax them and they are good enough for my outdoor use during non winter months. During winter months I layer with synthetics so water doesnt really bother me
>>
>>34922564
>For example, the M65 jackets are sized to fit on top of gear, not the other way around.

Wise G.I.s got theirs much larger than necessary to fit multiple liners if they worked where winter gets nasty.. You can have the edges and sleeve ends of the liners sewn together or do it yourself which reduces lumping and makes buttoning it in much more convenient. I used three liners, two joined, in my jackets and they were comfortable on open flightlines in winter. Scotchgard is my friend. At least a full can per jacket.

A complementary cold weather trick is sewing the ends of a military scarf together. Then loop it around neck as needed. No need to tuck it in since there are no loose ends, it works well with motorcycle helmets if you ride, and it was USAF flightline legal when I did it because it cannot fall off.

>>34925903
This is the inner belt of a FLC. While you can use it standalone, I wouldn't recommend it. It is a quite tall belt and has nothing in it to make it more rigid. A pistol or duty belt is better if you're going cheap.

There are plenty of OD or RG belts out there which work better. Once you stick your pouches on, it looks fine anyway. On the cheaper end but still above the ALICE belt, I'd suggest the ATS war belt in RG.

I am actually in the minority of people who think the FLC is a decent piece of gear and better than an ALICE suspender loadout when you sweep aside nostalgia, but just the FLC belt itself isn't really a standalone piece of gear.
>>
Trying to decide on a color/camo choice. I impulse bought a Coyote PC last year for a good price but I'm no longer sure I want to stick with it for good. Current options:

>stick with Coyote
>start standardizing around Multicam, replace PC later
>dump everything and start over with Multicam Black, which is /fa/ as fuck but completely useless as a pattern
>dump everything and start over with Wolf Gray since I live in a city

I live in Central Texas, but in an urban area, so really all of these except for MC Black would be usable in a SHTF situation.

Coyote works in parts of texas, especially in the summer. If the PC is good quality I'd just keep it. Added bonus is that a surplus eagle war belt would match perfectly along with those kydex pouches they had.

That's what I've been thinking, but the Austin and Leander area is actually pretty green in many places, which is why I'm thinking MC might be a better option. My PC is a Paraclete SOPHC, so it's definitely good, but I'm leaning mostly towards kitting it out in MC and then swapping it for something that matches down the line.

On the flip side, since I live in a more suburban area, Wolf Grey has been on my radar too, but I'm not really sure how useful a "low profile" setup would be in any hypothetical SHTF situation.

I have a drop leg holster for my glawk brand glawk and a minimalist chest rig without much real estate so I'm not sure if looking into a drop leg for my other side would be a waste of time and money or not

Depends on how much kit you have on your chest rig and how its placed, also if you have webbing on a drop leg is much easier to get to.

Don't buy Condor. Ever. Not for operating, not for Airshit, not for anything. It is fucking garbage.

Currently rocking an ALICE pack with standard three day survival kit. Rations, medical gear, change of socks, you get my drift. The problem I'm having is the sleeping bag. It's kinda big and bulky but for the winter time it's perfect because it gets kinda cold where I live and I don't have a lot of mass on me so it's difficult to keep warm as it is. Advice anyone? Pic related.

A compression sack might help but the only other option is to get a down or synthetic bag that packs much smaller.

for a super ultralight setup you can go with a much lighter sleeping pad and down quilt. I've never used a sleeping pad so ymmv.

Kind of drawing a blank how I could attach a thigh strap to this G-code mount though, perhaps routing it under the RTI wheel?

ya i know that's why i bought it.

>Do you know the history of that specific helmet?
used by some airsofter, not in contact with any shit that could remotely degrade the ballistics, especially considering that the army's test protocol involves immersion in water, fuel, and exposure to chemicals

>I know the ukrop helmet I bought and shot performed just fine against similar threats and it was brand new.
ok

>One hole shrouds suck ass and drilling a helmet is a precarious operation
the Norotos shroud i have is solid. I didn't settle for USGI garbage here

>IR illuminator for reading maps/messing with gear, earpro/comms, looking cool, camera mounts, etc
the IR illuminator can be attached directly with velcro. On an ACH you can't attach commo to the rails anyways. Cameras can be mounted with velcro above the ear thingies, reduces bulk and snag hazards.
>>
>>34935981
my opinion is that HSGI is falling behind the times. but they're relatively well constructed. the new designs are just stupid
