>How soon do you think you'll be able to test it with 5.56? Did you order a 5.56 end cap? Build quality seem good?

Hard to say when. I've been unemployed a while and limiting what I spend and those MDs are pricy.

I didn't bother with a 5.56 endcap, the Dead Air guys don't seem to think they're beneficial and end up putting more gas and noise back in your face instead of out the end.

Can't complain about what I've seen with the quality. Worst thing I can say is there's a little bubble at the end of this weld.

A big draw for the Dead Air stuff is that the guys in charge are local to me. I've met them at events a couple times, they're really active on facebook, and if I punch in the phone number on the website I'll end up talking to one of them directly. They're always hooking people up with replacement parts and advice. I mean SiCo is local to me too and I've dealt with them and had a good experience, but it's hard to beat having a direct line to the owners of DA.

Just got back home from the range trying out a new upper build.

To be quite honest, I'm super disappointed with the accuracy. At 100 yards I couldn't manage better than 4 inch groups. Is it because the barrel is brand spanking new, or is it because the pencil profile is just inherently so vulnerable to heating or just plain bad (16" Ballistic Advantage pencil profile barrel)?

This is especially sad because my previous AR (a bottom dollar PSA with a QPQ Govt barrel) was literally a 1 MOA shooter.

Maybe I need to shoot a couple hundred rounds through it to break off any burrs, or do I need to let it cool to ambient between shots?

Any thoughts?

>Don't seem to think they're beneficial.
I'm actually not too worried about blast to the shooter since I plan to keep using ear pro, but I really want to strike a balance between reducing shooter perceived muzzle report and having cabin owners in the woods call the sheriff on me.
If it is quiet enough to allow just Howard Leights with no doubling up, a few rounds with no ear pro at all, and decently reduced signature as perceived from afar I will be happy.

I really like the Sandman K but I'm worried it won't really do shit all for suppression.

That bubble doesn't look bad. I've been watching interviews and stuff with the Dead Air guys and I'm pretty sold on them as a company.

Whenever I grab someone else's rifle I usually shoot terribly, I'm not used to grabbing a 2 lb trigger or a 7lb trigger out of nowhere and the differences in travel throw me off quite a bit if I have no prior practice with it.

When I started out I was getting 3" groups. My tightest 5 shot group with 55 grain FMJ is under 1.3 inches- that's after 500 rounds. When I say 2 inches I mean 2 inches reliably, not shooting 3 hours to get that group and then going home.

>That bubble doesn't look bad. I've been watching interviews and stuff with the Dead Air guys and I'm pretty sold on them as a company.

Yeah the bubble doesn't bother me, it's just the worst thing I can say about it. I think the K is kind of a niche can. There are quite a few people who have an absurd amount of NFA shit, enough that you can sell a can specifically to a guy who says "you know I kinda want a really short can for a rifle I'm only going to shoot subsonic 30 cal through but want it to be full auto rated but also use a QD mount." If you're only planning on having a few cans for the foreseeable future, I'd go S instead of K.

Mike P and Gary H really know their shit, and it goes far beyond suppressor design. They post a lot of cool stuff under the MOD Outfitters name. They can give off a bit of a grumpy vibe, but they're stand-up dudes who are serious about their product and their customers. Hard to fuck with that.

I like the S but I'm worried it won't suppress as much as A2's omega, and be heavier to boot. It is the same length as the Omega essentially, but is 3oz heavier (~14.5oz vs ~18oz.)

It also is rated to be a bit less quiet, but A2's SBR is an 11.5" and I'm planning on my main AR being a 14" so that should knock a couple dB off.

Thanks for talking cans with me man.

After this can I probably won't buy another for a while. I like the idea of the K though because my primary shooting is close/medium contact drills with my AR.

Next rifle after AR is hopefully an AR10 for precision or battle rifle.

I considered an Omega too and mostly I've heard people are happy with them, except when people accidentally launch them downrange. The Sandman is just a little beefier all around and I guess the mounting system is better.

dB reduction isn't the whole story, they all have a slightly different sound. Their dB rating is close enough that it would only really sway me if they were equal in every other regard.

I wouldn't sweat the length of the K over the S much. Might be an appreciable difference on some folding/collapsible stock PDW type thing that's probably pistol caliber anyway. I'll take the dB reduction of a 6-7" can over a can half the length while shooting supersonic any day.
>>

I'm seriously new to all this, so don't get me for thinking this is bait. I want just a simple rail system for a PEQ, a flashlight, and a foregrip. Possibly gonna add a rear sight but I haven't decided on whether I want to get a carry handle.

Thinking more of buying a Wyndham first, then just building what I want from there.

for a basic M4 clone a colt 6920 with a KAC or P&S RAS (rail for a Carbine), KAC VFG, surefire scout series light, KAC BUIS, and a standard colt stock or LMT sopmod and you will have an approximate m4, getting a PNW 14.5 barrel isn't worth the trouble but is correct

No, the le6920 is civilian, it's just part of the name for whatever reason (some nonsense from the AWB in the 90s I think)

with high end optics you can resell them at close to new prices because they are so durable, reliable and are near idiot/bomb proof (for the elcans, trijicon and aimpoint products)

This way you might just "lease" for a bit before selling back, so you can own an acog for 5 years for $300 selling back at $900
>>
>>34856528
Check out the ar15.com equipment exchange for a P&S rail, it's the exact m4 rail you're likely thinking of that sells used for less than $100, make sure to get a local ID in AZ using your college address or they might make it hard for you to buy guns

They may force you, without an ID, to send the weapon back to a CA FFL to be made CA compliant and then picked up in CA and then sent to an AZ FFL

You don't want this, go to the DMV and get an ID
>>
>>34856553
