For 5.45x39 I have three spam cans of 7n6. For 7.62x39 I have some GT. For 5.56 I don't have anything but some PMC gold, I plan on getting some better stuff once I have the financial stability but it's a lower priority since all the good stuff is either imports from allies or US made.

with 7n6 being banned and drumpf not giving everyone free automatic suppressed SBRs yet I think it might be a while before sanctions get dropped again, but it more or less lines up like this:
5.45 expensive but performs better, sexier mags for whatever reason but ammo, mags, and gun will cost more
7.62 works fine but isn't as tacticool at lower price, less worrying about sanctions banning everything

I'm not aware of any Nuggetfests but MSW does have events here, they had one in eastern WA a few months back

Like 80% of all the people come in the summer, when it's any other time of the year it's pretty empty. They all just park to walk across the bridge but there are tons of trails and other places that are part of the park that no tourists go to cuz they don't want to hike

For bugs it really depends where you're at and even then it's only really in the summer. Where I'm at we don't really have a lot unless you're in a more swampy area. I maybe get only like a half dozen mosquito bites a year, not very many. I can't speak for eastern WA as I don't go that way too often but when I've camped out there there's not too many cuz it's more dry. Overall there's not that many in the state but granted I've spent like 85% of my life on these various islands and I've only ever been on the peninsula once and know nothing about it over there. A few summers ago I drove out to Virginia in June and if NC is anything like VA in the summer then there was a massive amount more bugs over there over that trip than I've ever even seen over here

I'd like to come to a Nuggetfest or especially a MSW over there with the usual /k/ MSW crowd but that might be hard for me with a kid and job and all, plus I've only ever flown on a commercial plane once and have no idea what I'm doing or how to even bring a gun or ammo so idk

Krinks were pretty much vehicle driver/helo pilot guns in Afghanistan IIRC; most photos you'll see of Red Army troops in-country have them with AK-74s, AKS-74s, and AKMNs. I think I recall reading somewhere that the typical squad had a couple of guys with AK-74s, one RPK, and one guy with an AKMN; might have been in The Hidden War but I can't recall where they said it.

You do see a lot more Krinks come out for the Chechen Wars due to the prevalence of urban combat, though.

Mine is a kit build off a 1983 Izhmash AK-74 kit, with the fixed stock replaced with a folder and built on a period-accurate replica receiver. There are quite a few guys here who have Bulgarian Arsenal SLR-104s dressed up in the same way though, which is a much easier way to go about it if you're not autistic about having correct selector marks and Russian trunnion markings. Bulgarian AK-74s are largely based on the Russian early 1980s production variants and will have many of the same features (lazy rib top cover, pinned barrel components, 4.5mm folding trunnion, etc.).

How often does the AK gas tube need to be cleaned? I heard someone say it'll rust if left uncleaned with powder residue on it, even with commercial ammo, but I kinda doubt it's that touchy.

I'm fairly sure I cleaned my 7.62 AK that way when I first got it, but I only cleaned the bore and bolt after the last 200 rounds I put through it.

My 5.45 gun hasn't been fired since it was test fired by my builder, though. I've cleaned the bolt up but haven't touched the barrel or gas tube yet. That's the one I'm mostly worried about.

I've got a question about barrel life /akg/. I'm interested in getting a zastava m90np(pic related) because I just like the weird factor of AR mag fed 5.56 AKs. But as far as i know, the barrel is not chromed or nitrided etc. With 5.56, I'm not worried about corrosive ammo, but simply erosion from shooting.

Anyone know anything about these battlefield pick up Romanian aks. What's the quality compared to a wasr considering they are about the same price.

When I clean after corrosive I use a lot of water. So I chase it with oil for rust prevention. Only for rust prevention. It's not necessary to lubricate the gas tube.

Rust prevention is the main reason I'm asking - my 74 tube had a tiny bit of surface rust from when it was a military gun, but my AKM is old and beat to shit and had signs of corrosion from the previous owner, so I figured a quick light oil coat can't hurt. Just not sure if I need to wipe out whatever's left before I go shoot again.

I have a polish mpk build made by them from some years ago. It was a good quality rifle. In between my wasr and DA ak. Rifle was straight and had nice surp wood furniture. Didn't have a notch for selector, minor and very unimportant issue, purely cosmetic, but thought I should mention it. Not sure if these you are looking at have that issue. Hope this helps somewhat.

WASR is produced in the same factory for civilian export.
Generally the same quality, but an SAR-1 should last a little bit longer.

Both rifles can be expected to last past 40,000 rounds.
Which in SHTF you will probably never fire.

The SAR will probably be built a bit better and has dimples, but they're both AKM-pattern rifles that'll hold up well and accept all the same parts and magazines.

I remember the first time I saw the fnc in person. The owner let me blast a few mags through in full auto. Fucking loved the thing, so I asked him how much the semi auto rifles go for. My desire to own one was born and died that day at the range.

I like the 16s. I'd like it more if it cost $1000 less, came with a better stock, wasn't constructed by way of screws threaded into extruded 6 series alu and didn't require me to modify my gen 2 pmags just so the rifle won't hurt itself.

I genuinely like the SCAR 17 and have it on my big Gun Wishlist™, but I've come to the conclusion that I do not have the money to really take a SCAR to its fullest potential. A bone stock SCAR 17 is basically proof that someone has a single-minded obsession with the gun, or blew a ton of cash on it as a status symbol without actually having the income to put shit on it like an optic in the same price range.

Frankly, I've decided that if I ever get the itch to go blow $2K+ on a single bone stock gun ever again, it'll be to shell out for a Sig 553 or an HK SL8 for conversion to an XM8. At least with those the cool factor is built-in.
