Like just picking it up and shouldering it for the first time in like two months brought on a wave of emotions and nostalgia, it's such a comfy gun. Thing is tho if I'm gonna shoot a semi auto full size rifle (which I don't ever really do) I'd shoot my M1 like 90% of the time. My FAL is the definition of a safe queen, not even because I want to keep it mint but because I just don't have that much fun when I shoot it. I have an A-91 to animate for a client; do the magazines on that need to be rocked in like the AK platform or no? Battlefield 4's animations don't rock it in but they have inaccuracies sometimes.

I figure this is the best place to ask since it's a Russian weapon.

If I weren't on mobile I'd have clearer resoultion but I'd be willing to bet that rear area at the top of the mag is a release for the rear locking tab. All Russian rifles and carbines work off the same or similar mags so it wouldn't make sense they'd abandon the rock in on a gun like that

The only thing throwing me off is that on the 5.56 version they're using a mag type I've never seen, where its curved like an AK platform mag but squared away at the top. If it was standard configuration why would they have the squared away portion?

So what is /akg/'s go to #1 AK right now? I think it would be a close tie between my Pyramid WASR and my 106. I guess it depended what type of situation, but I definitely have more time spent with my 106 than any other rifle.

Try a different recoil spring assembly. That particular hangup can be caused by a wide variety of issues.

One of the worse states of second hand AK's. I had made the mistake of buying an N-PAP, immediately decided that was a bad choice and went ahead and tried to sell it on armslist for $600. It was up for like a month and the only offers I EVER got were for people wanting to trade shit or people offering $500 in cash. I haven't shot the N-PAP yet because I managed to fuck up the grip riveted on grip nut thing. I posted about it before actually, it was so soft that I managed to bend it just from screwing in a grip half a turn too tight. Literally the only two AK's I've had that have had no major issues are my Draco and SLR-104FR.

Has anyone replaced an ak fsb without a press? I want to replace the fsb on my npap with an m70 fsb but I do not own a press. I figured i could get away with just hammering it on and off but didnt know exactly how tight the fsb is pressed on.

Looks like the left side of the carrier is jumping the rail. Like I said, there's a lot of little tolerance stacking problems that can add up to cause that. Rear trunnion a tiny bit too far back in the receiver, rails a bit too far forward, difference in shape of recoil assemblies.

My krink did the same thing until I bought a couple Bulgarian recoil assemblies and found one that solved it.

You can also try slightly extending/deepening the angled cuts on the bolt carrier that's supposed to let it slide onto the rails. Sometimes they are too short/shallow from the factory.

These angled cuts help prevent the carrier from jumping the rails. This is an SGL31. Both my 104FRs were nice like this, but my 104UR cuts were shorter and more shallow.
