Not at all, actually less so than a Glock 17 with an Octane on it. From SilencerCo's own website using '147 grain 9mm' you get; 139.9 dB for the short Maxim 9, 136.3 dB for the long Maxim 9, and 127.0 dB for the Octane 9 on a G17. The advantage to the Maxim is it's not as long as a regular gun with a can. Basically a dumb novelty item in case the HPA passes.

The point of the maxim 9 isn't to be more quiet than a regular suppressed pistol, the point is to be more compact.

also you can add/remove baffles as you wish so im sure you could make a fuck off long maxim 9 that is very quiet

I shot one a couple of weeks ago. It's about the same as an Osprey 9, maybe a bit louder. The longer version is hearing-safe with all 9mm instead of just subs though, so that's a plus. One thing I will note is that it tends to run pretty hot (the area my thumb rested on was uncomfortably hot by the time I got to shoot it), but recoil is very light for a handgun since the reciprocating part of the slide is much smaller than normal and the integral suppressor helps combat muzzle rise.

Yes sir, specifically the Osprey .45 used for 9mm. Theoretically a proper 9mm with the length of the .45 would be better still but fuck you, it doesn't exist. The Osprey 9 is the same as the Octane 9, and the Octane .45 is louder than all three.
