What is a good price to pay for a WASR? I see once that costs $470, but it does have some mild surface rust on the barrel and sights. Is also a 10/63 btw.

AK builders please help!

Ok so I'm trying to press off my rear sight block. I put the barrel assembly in my press and have the RSB placed over the barrel journal cutout in my press plate (yes I have the RSB pin removed). Once I start applying pressure on my 12 ton press the barrel isn't moving at all like when I pressed the barrel out of the front trunnion. My press seems like it's binding and I'm scared to do anything more than 1-2 pumps after good contact. Am I being too much of a pussy and I just need to keep going?

Lel. It's horrible but at least the quality control is there, it's shitty within tolerances. the WASR shit is not acceptable though. I'm not sure if I'm going to even bother fixing it once I determine that it is indeed the bolt carrier that is the issue. I might just get a new bolt carrier like this:
https://www.apexgunparts.com/romanian-akm-bolt-carrier-refinished.html
Although I'd prefer a virgin bolt carrier but I can only seem to find Polish virgins.

22 7.62 bakes including one 40 rounder, maybe more if I misplaced any but I think they are all accounted for. Also have 16 or so 5.45 bakes, ten of those being 45 round mags.

I was 6 when the ban went into effect, bought my first AK 3 years after it expired.

I'm not dead set on the vepr, I just want a good ak that I can pass down to my kids. I read the pastebin and the only other one that seems high enough quality would be an slr104 but those are a little more pricey. should I just give up on a vertical grip or go with a regular ak?
>>
>>34291668
You can get a railed RPK handguard. And put a vertical grip on that. Won't be wood, but that would be your only opition. Your only option for wood vertical grips in general is a Romanian dong handguard, but that won't work on the Vepr.

Anyone here knows how the remedy to a sticky/slow bolt? My M70AB2's bolt is retarded slow.

Russian veprs will last long term no doubt, but if you really want the vert grip theres other ak74s: sar2, slr104fr(lol goodluck) , saigas (SGL)

I'm a left handed shooter, will I have any issues using a russian scope/sight on a ak74 (pka, posp, kobra etc)? Also do folding stocks that fold to the left work with a scope mounted on? What should I choose with this in mind?

Hmm, that's the same marking used on some of the old Russian night vision scopes. And it also has the actual GRAU index designation on it, too. After some cursory research the hammer and sickle logo on there is NPZ's old marking, along with the triforce, like you see on the night vision scopes. Seems like a retro throwback thing NPZ is doing, maybe. So not completely artificial. I just want whatever the Russian military uses, but unfortunately most pics are from the right side of the rifle.

8 left, $469 with free shipping. 4MOA dot. They also have the H-1 with the AR-height LRP mount for $539 shipped; the LRP mount spacer can be taken off to convert it to a low mount for AKs and such. Frankly, I'd jump on that deal; I paid I think $439 each for my two H-1s with LRP mounts on clearance at Academy and this is as close as you'll ever get to that for a new one.
>>
>>34296326
Also, just in case you're not aware, H-1 and T-1 are identical other than the T-1 having half its settings set up for use with NVGs. I've heard you can still use the H-1 with NVGs on the low brightness settings but can't confirm myself.

But then what would I use on my early 74M build :^)
I thought you were looking for the double turbo rare earliest version without the groove marks anyways?
Slightly better proof pic.
>>
>>34297777
Nah first of all it's rare for me to even see those oft he military pics. I already have one myself. I think hey may be civilian shit or something. the one I want is the one you ahve there ffor your early 74m bui.d. It's the one I always see.

plus the ones that are flat on the left side just dont like right. Ones with the reinfocement ribs (or maybe there for tightening it up) just look better to me. but for real if you can get another one just like hat then I'll pay you a finders fee and shit.

i love the proof makrs on the inside of dust covers
>>
>>34297832
I thought for sure I've seen the none grooved ones on actual military rifles, but now you've got me second guessing (you're probably right). I'll have to scrounge through Kuzmin's pics again.

I would if I could. It was just luck. Someone was selling early Saiga parts on akfiles and I noticed it. Keep an eye out there or try searching for saiga parts on gunbroker. I've seen one there too once.

I've only ever seen them on deacts, trade show rifles, museums etc. that doesn't mean much though from what I understand big military contacts for rifle replacements only represent a relatively short period of development.

Not sure why but I just got to wonder about how difficult would it be to have a 5.5mm folder installed on a 1.5mm receiver vs a regular 1mm receiver? Like would it just need shimmed/welded or is .5 mm close enough that a builder could get away with just riveting it like normal?
I think an RPK 16 inspired build would be pretty neat.

>M92
M8, there's no exposed barrel to attach a mount to.
Most people would say just get an Ultimak, but there are a few other ways it could be done.

You might look into something like this, or mounting an Echo93 MK65 (will allow the light to be a little higher and farther forward) in this manner, in the gap between the handguards.

The gas block and lower handguard retainer.
Zip ties are always an option.

Don't know.
Like I said there, you might try the Echo93 MK65 mount mounted like that one.
The forward and upward offset should help with heat.
Although I'm sure the mount itself would still get hot, just because of it's proximity to the barrel/gastube.
You might be able to isolate/insulate it somewhat, but it's not going to be free from heat.
>>
>>34299368
You are going to have to take your hand off the handguard long before the polymer starts melting

Wait until next year when 104s (hopefully) come back.
Although Arsenal did get a small batch of 107s recently, so they might pop up before then.

For really hard to press barrel components, especially on cut barrel sections from demilled kits, I would throw the barrel in the freezer overnight. Then load it on the press, start applying pressure, and start blasting whatever block it was with a heat gun.

That doesn't excuse your front trunnion's front rivet though.

Apparently the actual piece that you push stuff with bent and caused an assplosion.
