I figure this oughta be /gq/. What is the consensus on Blue Stone armor. Not sure if it's sportsman's guide house brand but it's ceramic/composite and wicked cheap.

Uhh run away at high speed
>>
>>34264731
I'm not all that worried about getting hit with AP 30-06.

Level 3 with coverage for both m855 and m193 is what I really desire.
>>
>>34264755
Normal III is not rated for M855
>>
>>34264765
Correct.

So I'm looking for what is usually called 3+. Those plates are 3+.
>>
>>34264755
Also it doesn't say how many shots, it doesn't say anywhere it's rated for M193, and armor wear is not the most reputable company ever. Run away. Get ceramics.
>>
>>34264796
6 shots. Presumably 5.56 ball is m193, but I agree that it has red flags. Hence why I asked if anyone had experience with em.

Already have level IV ceramics, but I kinda want reasonable protection for around 5lbs a plate.
>>
>>34264824
http://www.rmadefense.com/Level-IV-1199.asp

Indep tested and not NIJ tested yet, but RMA is a very very reputable seller. And they're 4.4 lbs a plate.
>>
>>34264852
It was tested and it only showed 1 inch of BFD from a 5 yard .30-06 AP shot. That shit'll stop anything short of a lapua.
>>
>>34264852
I actually called them about that product, funnily enough.

It's a scam.

The actual armor only measures 8.5x10.5.

found this gunskin shit on a website, basically stickers that you heat onto your pistol or rifle to give it camo. Is this something to invest in, or is it just gimmick stuff? Dont have plans on putting it on my pistol, because I'm afraid it will jam into my holster. But are there certain parts to it that can work well on a rifle? I dont really mind applying paint camo to my rifle, but its the quality of the gunskin camo that interests me.

My two biggest concerns if obviously the barrel, and the area around the magwell/safety where you usually keep your finger.

New pic tomorrow. Getting a new pack to integrate with this kit, and Ive added some stuff, and moved some stuff around. The LBT pack is still my 3-day oriented pack, but it wearing it all the time with this kit to give myself an ability to carry water, the pack is just too big. Run into interference with it on my belt. For long distance its fine, as nothing is comfortable after 10-15 miles anyway. But, for short stuff I needed a change.. Ill update tomorrow.

Are you looking for strictly competition or also a mixture of tactical use?

If competition use, I have no experience with that and can not comment. But if tactical use for 2 inch, id recommend Ronin, Tyr Tactical, AWS, HTC belts, all are good, some better in their own ways.
>>
>>34268810
Not sure what makes me a faggot for wanting that compared to everyone else in this thread but okay.
>>
>>34268344
You can get the plate carrier and belt from Varusteleka. They're made by Verseidag and are Finnish army standard (at least, in theory, because most of them are still wearing last gen gear since they're a bunch of conscripts). The shoulders, legs, collar, and crotch flap can be bought from Verseidag's website.

Anyone else here use a Spiritus micro fight for bolt gun and shotgun stuff? I live in a ban state, so it's more practical for me to use those than a neutered AR or AK. I wear one without the backstrap (so it just hangs off my shoulders) and have it filled with shotgun or .308 velcro cards for fucking around in the woods. On the front of the rig, I carry one velcro card next to a fun weeb patch. When the card on the front of the rig gets loaded into the gun (filling the magazine in the case of the bolt gun), I tear it off and replace it with a card from inside the rig. It's two tons of fun, even if it is a kind of fudd-ish take on tacticool shit.

>Too good to be true
Eh. Knock off $75 per plate, and include M193 in the rating and It'll be an awesome deal.

There are a lot of special threat level III+ Dyneema/Ceramic (Same as Polyethylene/Alumina) rated for M80, M193, M855, and 7.62x39 for around $225-$300 per plate.

>>34264784
I would be more interested if they had shooters/SAPI cut, and if they claimed M193 explicitly. I assume it can stop M193 though. Plain old level III dyneema/polyethyl plates stop M193. The added alumina/ceramic layer is critical to stopping the steel core 7.62x39 and M855.

>>34264852

How is it ruining your body? There are negative side effects at times which can be treated by switching meds or with other meds. It changes your appearance to conform more with how you see yourself. I would argue its less degenerate than plastic surgery since it makes use of hormones already present in your body for the change. Tell me how exactly your body is ruined by this.

You've got to be fucking kidding? That is absolutely devilish. I just found out about the RMA 1199 today and was actually a little excited.
The Armor Wear III+ Polyethyl/Ceramic 10x12" multi curves look pretty good honestly, and aren't too expensive. Good value if they're legit. I also just found out about those today as well.

These guys have single curve level IV 10x12" that they claim are 6lbs each. $300 for two plates.
https://www.patriotarmordefense.com/plates.html
Seems a little sketchy though. Small business, and for several months their level IV ceramics were listed as 5.5lbs or maybe even 5lbs per plate IIRC.

Their website is unfortunately hard to navigate and hasn't been updated in a while. Shame since they're a good company. I would be interested in a Daeodon if another vendor other than SKD stocked them. It is weird, it almost seems like SKD has an exclusive deal with Esstac or something.
SKD does have Esstac rigs for sale on their own website.
Why are you interested in the Esstac rigs?

Mostly wanting a chest rig with the mag pouches built in with the front open for needed pouches.
I've been seriously looking at the bush boar as the front is open to whatever gear I need, and the magazine pouches in the back out of the way. They also have swap-able backs for 7.62 which is a plus as I sometimes run either.
>>
>>34271130
>Magazine pouches in the back out of the way
If it were me, I would want at least one shorty KWYI rifle mag pouch on my left side for emergency reloads. Those look hard to get to.
>Swap-able backs for 7.62
This is a legitimate concern that not every chest rig addresses.
If you're willing to just have a dedicated 5.56 rig this could be neat:
http://www.optactical.com/atsm4mochha.html
But I'm at a point where I personally wouldn't invest in a rig that wasn't purpose designed to interface with a carrier in one way or another.
>>
>>34271130
Changing the mag pouches is probably the biggest plus of esstac rigs, pretty awesome. I eyeballed them for a long time but got a spiritus instead, may eventually get one. Serves a different purpose anyway. As said before skd has them, other than that you might find them on eBay or ee's on forums.

Anyone know where I can get icw lvl IV side plates that don't cost more than front/back plates? Bulletproofme doesn't have them.

Still waiting for Beofeng, WAS PLB belt, Peltor Sound traps and ARC rail adaptors, and (another) T10 light to be delievered. Not pictured are Leatherman, Arcteryx Assault Glove FR, and their space magic Rho LT pants.
Have to order a Lone Wolf long slide for the G20 and mount the RMR on it. Now to find a holster that will accept a long slide and an XC1.
>>

Pretty comprehensive setup. Nice.

Camo seems kinda light for Maine, no?
Just a bit of friendly criticism but a 10mm doesn't seem like the most ideal SHTF handgun, and considering your T-shirt that is what you're going for right?
>>
>>34270023
No pics now, but maybe later when I'm in my own home and have the time. It's a fun setup. It rides loose. If you're going to be doing any running, the backstrap is a must, but if you're just walking through the woods or shooting up some farmer's back forty (with consent, of course), you're golden. The backstrap isn't necessary unless you're running around like a combat situation, and the Micro Fight is much comfier without it. I might also recommend clipping the shoulder straps to the lower side buckles when not using the backstrap. Adds a little stability. That's better for backwoods fuckery.
>>34270359
I'm in CA, and in my part of the state 7.62x39 is hens' teeth. Everybody around here is fuddly as fudds can be or has an AR. My LGS has funky wildcat-turned-production-cartridge chamberings specially tuned to take tule elk cleanly, but doesn't carry 7.62x39. It's fucking madness. Tule elk don't even live in this part of the state!

>>34271421
I was going to go ATACS FG but it was a bit too dark for anything outside of July-Aug inna woods. I always err on the side of lighter with camo.
There's actually quite a bit of straw/light brown colors here and AU works great. And I shoot inna pit 95% of the time which is the A in AU.

I've heard really good things about Mil-Tec and I want to go with the 36L size as I live in Wisconsin and if you've seen the news we just got hammered with two Tornado tier storms in less than a week, and I believe three touchdowns in the past two months so I need to have quite a bit of shit on my person if I'm to make it to my destination if god forbid I have to get my family the hell out of dodge because its a good march out of town and an ass fucking out to the meet point for the family. I can't comment on the brand Mil-Tec, Im sure someone here can. But my initial opinion, is it really depends. Some of the reviews have me concerned. Issues about stitching, and the zippers. This is something you have to consider. Whats important to really look at, is volume, and use of the pack. I mean if your loading 50-60lbs in a 40USD pack, thats something you really have to look into. Im not a pack expert, and theres some anons here that know far more. I understand the issue of price, and how that may be important to you, my concern is for 40 are you really saving that much money compared to maybe spending another 60? I mean if the contents of the pack cost 200 USD and your pack only cost 40 USD

IMO the most high value pack that I have ever used is the ALICE ruck. you can get them surplus, and I have put probably 200 miles on mine. Ive broke two frames, while ruck running about 60lbs, and both were field repaired using tape and 550 cord. Don't let that sway you though, they were put through some serious stress during those failures.

This is actually a topic I'm halfway through writing an article for kommandoblog on, it's very subjective. For 99% of the applications will you need the extra features (FR, actual ripstop, waist tabs, etc) that Crye has over something like Massif, or 511, or something like that, you don't need Cryes. The features are there, and very nice, in fact I maintain that the most comfortable set of pants I own are Cryes, but do you need it? No. FRACU pants with arcteryx kneecaps will do essentially the same thing, sacrificing only comfort.

Now, does that boost in comfort justify the cost? In my opinion, yes. The stretch panels make it so that the upper back of the pants stretch when you bend over, meaning shirts never pop out. the kneepads are always on your knew when you need them, and do not constrict the knee like conventional kneepads. the material is practically bulletproof, I have a 7 year old set of ACs that was run for 3 years in A-Stan, 2 years by some airsofter and the remainder by myself, still running strong with one hole half the size of a dime on the lower calf. I wholeheartedly believe Cryes are worth it.

That's the new(ish, hardly) standard pattern for the Ukrainian army. The jacket is just from one of the hundreds of commercial manufacturers in Ukraine. Look on ebay for "Ukraine camo" and you're bound to find a style you like.

Don't stress about finding "real" stuff. For every real piece there is, there are 10 commercial ones. But it doesn't matter, because the quality is super shitty nylon for both.
