Is that big smersh vest with a buttpack good gear?
>>

Yes it's good.

Good thing my attempt to make a new thread didn't work, would've had a double thread.

There are companies making better and more modern gear that aren't absolutely terrible at customer service and flat out bad people. Why people outside of their gay following still buy shit is beyond me.

they work pretty well at distributing the weight but generally they cost too much after shipping from russia. You can get similar shit made in america for cheaper.
>>
>>34113863
This is accurate, if you check Facebook gear bst groups and *gasp* airshit forums you can buy them inna US. They're pretty common now and good deals pop up occasionally if you look.

It really depends how much you want a Smersh.

Looks pretty fucking dope overall.

I'm thinking about getting some airshit woodland CRYEs. $45 vs like $450.

Nice setup.

What knee pads?

>>34112935
So this was an exceptional post till the very end where you recommended just leaving the bullet in a simple limb wound and hope for the best.

Maybe this is medical fuddlore but I am pretty sure that the wound won't heal with a .45 FMJ just hanging out in there.

>>34113293
Which plates?
>>
>>34114232
That's what I thought. The only time I wouldn't want the bullet removed is if it was in a bone. Because at that point, shit is pretty grim.

However, Andrew Jackson had multiple bullets left in him from duels, gunfights, etc.

The pair in the picture are okay. They were $16 or so, and are relatively durable, well fitting, and comfortable for the price. I don't think they are in the sweet spot for the LAPG pants.

I've got another pair coming that were $35.

If I were you I'd experiment with the slightly more expensive models.
>>
>>34114326
I've always been a slut for anything 5.11 and their quality has gone up so much the past few years it's incredible. I do, however, love my Kuhl Ryder pants and a pair of Arc'teryx pants I have, but they aren't necessarily as good of range/tactical pants as 5.11.
>>
>>34114326
Where did you get that hat?
>>
Protip: For those of you with howard leights there's gel earpads available. Tried them today at the range. I don't know if they work better than the stock foam ones but they are definitely more comfortable.

I'm actually investing in NODs right now, next thing is a TATM arm. However being a college student who pays out of pocket has put a strain on my wallet. I appreciate the constructive criticism, allow me to explain myself though. I actually blouse them that tight because for some reason BDU trousers are super baggy on me and when I go camping (inna swamp and with this kit minus the PC/Helmet) it helps with things not snagging. And the rolled sleeves were hastily done mainly because I only because I usually unroll them frequently. Here's my setup before I updated everything, my belt is the same though except for an Eagle m4 pouch for a spare mag.

>>34113377
Because Florida and woodland-masterrace

>>34113537
Thanks man, the patch is from optactical, it's pretty well made. I actually went with the alta knee pads over the Arctery'x because I heard that the bird pads tend to fall apart from heavier use faster. And personally I've found the alta ones to be fine while hiking. I'm looking to get comtacs soon as well once I allocate money for them, the Tactical 6s are fine for now though. I'm soon going to get a combat shirt, the bdu blouse is just a place holder. the white t-shirt was just a cutoff I had on and isn't the normal shirt I wear under. And I have these Bellevilles because there's some nasty shit in the swamps here and they're water-proof. Lastly the gloves I had from back when I did construction and they've lasted well so far so I just kept them for my kit. Thanks for the advice

Sall good. I originally was testing how mixed gear would work in/along woodland and I found it seems to help similar to how M81 camouflages. Granted when you're behind scrubs/palms/grasses I feel like as long as you're wearing something green it'll help. Plus the area I'm in actually has a lot of blackish brown mud so the black base gear doesn't hurt. and to be honest, I like the aesthetic of it. Not like I would be trying to be invisible or trying to be a ghost in the forest wearing that amount of gear.

I've got the 7.62 hybrid rig and it fits me pretty well, the gen IV just has sewn in pouches on the sides instead of molle. For reference I'm about 5' 10" 145 pounds.

>>
>>34116954
>$250
what???
>>
>>34113863
yeah, it depends on smersh variety. new gen ones are like $100, but oxfords are $200, and partizan harnesses go for $350-$450. I'm picking up a weird woodland rosn smersh for $145 before shipping, but once they get into the west people tend to hold on to them.
>>
also, some one asked last thread.
ifak? hahahahahaha. they issue use the pouch and the insert but no supplies. and when we run a stx lane someone has to carry the actual aid bag without all the supplies. now I've run other stx lanes where we get real armor too, but just one plate, put it in your back incase pv1 fucktard is in your fireteam.

you know, maybe this mos transition isn't so bad

>>
>>34117351
I try not to stereotype NG, but goddamn you guys are fuck'd long & hard. If you're transitioning to active with the MOS change very good.

If I were you I'd move to a chest rig loadout atop a slick armor with both your /gq/ and issued stuff, so that you can actually use a personal chest rig with non-bullshit in it during live fire training and in-state deployment.

Are you even CLS/TCCC trained and certified or is it all hippocket stuff? You're some kind of armor crew right?
>>
>>34117527

no silly, they just decided to turn an entire company of infantrymen into tankers. we're still guard.
I am cls trained, we do that every year but it's a 2 day class instead of a week. I was a mech infantry dismount, but we're going to tanker.

>TFW you're one of a single digit number of people in the US with a set of US4CES

http://www.hyperstealth.com/US4CES-ALPHA/

Fucking holy shit is anything by hyperstealth a fucking unicorn to get a hold of. There's one other anon here who had some SPEC4CE and I'm completely dumbfounded how they got it, considering I don't think the fabric was ever commercially sold.
The only other US4CES I've ever seen in the wild was owned by some czech guy or something. Totally unreal.

Unrelated: Does anyone know a pouch similar to the BFG 10 speed that will hold 2 AR mags?

Is the chest rig panel attached just by the side release buckles or by the velcro too?

How firm is the connection? Can you draw mags easily?

Do you have a chest rig harness that can take the pouches?
>>

Not that anon (it's not even his pic anyways).

-You can clearly see the cummerbund buckles in use on the left side of the image.

-That is a d3cr which comes with a harness, maybe you can buy just the body/pouch section seperately, idk.

Not trying to be condescending, just answering what I can as an APC owner myself. I don't have any experience mounting a chest rig but I know you've been mulling over this for a while now so I thought I'd try and help.

>>
>>34123810
I'm not too sure, not really deep in the holster game, but I'd imagine that there's a something out there that you could work with. How often do you take everything off/how many different pistols do you run?

I completely see your point, if your always running different set ups, but I mean I'd commit to one set up as your base kit. take your best pistol and get a solid holster for that. Use the holster you have now for just plinking and testing other pistols.

But I mean if you ever do anything with your kit your only carrying one pistol anyway, so it doesn't matter if you own 30 of them. 29 are home. 1 is with you.

--

Also is it me or is the American Flag patch pretty high on your shoulder? But that's my autism showing. Overall I dig your kit.
>>
>>34123810
>Oh okay a D3cr. Do the D3cr rigs attach by velcro or just buckles?

It depends on what chest rig you're attaching it too, but you can do velcro or buckles, or both. It comes with a rip-off velcro panel you can use to throw it on quickly, or it's compatible with the Swift Clip system. I have one I use on a Mayflower APC.

If you were wanting to use it on a Banshee or something similar, you'd probably have to buy a swift clip adapter to attach the D3CR, or the molle velcro panel.

probably not the best place to ask this, but I recently got a survivair optifit and I'm having trouble with the drinking tube. short version, if the bladder is above my head, gravity pushes water through the drinking tube. will a plain old camelback big bite adapter interface with pic related? not being able to have the bladder above my head is critical.

for reference, the optifit has an identical hydration system to the m40's and msa millennium's

I got the one in your picture.

I've used condor clothing and liked it but have seen their backpacks and pouches waste away very quickly with even moderate use.

I got it because it seemed like the only belt which would go through my beltloops and had molle.

I've only taken it out a couple times (run & gun on a three gun range), I carry a safariland holster on it (gls I think?), two rifle pouches and two pistol pouches piggybacked on the rifle pouches.

It supports that and keeps my pants in place easily. I'm pretty sure it's going to be one the things from condor that you can trust (like their softshells, fleeces, and pants).

because the point of the hydration system is that you don't have to take off the mask to use it, I mean I could just bypass the mask entirely to just use a plain old bite valve but that would kind of defeat the purpose

I dig the idea, but keeping "engagement" gear and sustainment gear separate is generally a better idea. If you have to suddenly do shit, it's easier to just drop a pack than move around with all shit on your waste.

Trying to do something like this, where my PC and eventual belt rig is my immediate SHTF gear and my 35L Pack and accompanying gear would be for sustained stuff.

Do you guys wear PCs with your sustainability gear as well or is it right to transition to a chest rig for weight reasons
>>
>>34131366
Those are basically hatch X tac kneepads. I use them for my gear as well which was in the most recent issue of GQ. They're probably the best kneepads that aren't in your pants themselves. I've never had mine slip on me.

So I've only ever rucked with my PC twice, 20 extra pounds isn't fun, but at the end of the day it's up to you. What do you think is worth it? Do you know how to find your own food and purify water? Can you cut weight and bring armor? It's all about what you can actually do, not so much best practices with a topic like this.
>>34131397
>Just buy the fucking arcteryx pads

I like them, however they were a limited run from SSO.

You can get almost identical ones on Ebay from SPLAV though.

>>34131408
I guess I'll ruck with it then I'll try to run around and do drills after a day rucking in it, if it's fucking horrible I'll leave it at home the next time and just rock a chest rig
>>
>>34131384
>Everything on PC vs PC+loadbearing gear
I used to like having everything on the PC since it minimized straps, but over the years I transitioned to having gear atop a slick PC. I use completely detached chest rigs (I have moved to a ChiCom which I unironically like better than more expensive rigs), but you can used something like a TAPS or chest panel to still reduce straps- but I'd recommend you store the standalone straps on the kit to retain the flexibility. Having a completely slick plate carrier allows it to be donned faster than one coated in gear- sure you don't have all your offensive loads of mags, but if seconds are counting for putting protective gear on you don't need all that shit. Having a separate chest rig allow gives flexibility to drop armor and just wear the chest rig if say, it's just too fucking hot. Mobility and flexibility sometimes have benefits over simple physical protection.

>Sustainment gear
There is a split in how gear is done, but I prefer towards the "first line/second line/sustainment" organization over the "LBE including sustainment" organization.

In my way of things, the belt should be light enough that you can wear it indefinitely without feeling encumbered. That means going light on mags and tons of shit. The belt is the basics, which is pistol (if you have it) and 1 reload, maybe 1 rifle mag. Not like 5 mags, keepin' it light. Then add a medical kit because if things ever Get Real and you find yourself living in Mad Max, having medical aid on yourself is extremely important. Add basic things you'd otherwise be carrying on your beltline like a multitool, maybe a flashlight.

con't
>>
>>34131447
Ah I see
>>34131476
Honestly unless you're doing it for geardo LARPing/Fantasies/SHTF shit/etc don't. Don't go camping with a plate carrier unless you're going with other people with plate carriers and staying in a private area. Camping/hiking is much more fun the less miserable you are
>>
>>34131525
Chest rig priority is to hold ammo. That's first and foremost. Make sure it's easy and good to go. Addmore medical. Add water. After that would be what is essentially <24 hour "I got separated" stuff. That's a compass, map in a plastic pouch, sharpie, cheater notes of where to go and contact info, electronic signal strobe, mirror, whistle, purification tablets, lighter/matches/magnesium, knife, more flashlight, extra battery for light, e-tape, duct tape.

Radio if you're issued one and/or civvie with friends. Possibly extended antenna tucked away somewhere for emergencies

I also carry a weapons cleaning kit as habit from being in extended dirty environments (your mom, etc).

Other sustainment gear goes in a pack. Daypack to rucksack transition should be planned out so as to allow your daypack to mate onto your ruck so you don't have to double pack things.

Whole post is IMO, naturally.

I've been wanting an Umlindi+Palspocket+Prarie belt combo with a stuff sack on top for a 3 day scalable pack (w/o pocket for daily use, pocket and belt for when camping/hiking), and there's slightly more gear and a lot less water that I'd personally pack in that thread.

Anything similar to this HSGI chest rig but possible with more horizontal molle space? Basically wider?

originally. the idea being that if you had an M4 you could put the M4 placard on, if you wanted to take you M110 on mission you could easily just swap placards for a 7.62 one.

now they make an adapter for the placards that turn them into chest rigs
