Because people in Texas are generally hopped up on the AR-15 train *hard*, and the "street value" of an AK in people's heads here is about $100-200 more than normal as a result since people on TGT ignore the fact that the internet exists outside of that site. I can count the number of sub-$700 WASRs I've seen on TGT in the last year on one hand.

The receiver is blued. The bolt and barrel are plum coloured, everything else is a mismatch finish wise. I may just end up completely refinishing the rifle one day metal wise. Or find someone who can do the Russian style finish and have them refinish it

Yes, both my Chinese AK and 20" Colt AR were my dad's and were the guns I learned how to shoot on. He bought the AK in the 80s before I was born and the AR during the AWB when I was little. He gave me the AR when I turned 18 and gave me the AK when I got married. He already had a lot of ARs and didn't really care for the AK outside of the cool factor so it wasn't a big deal to him to let them go
>>

Hey fags, if I can, should I pick up a cheap WASR? I'm thinking I might be able to Jew this local guy on Armslist down. He's already asking $615 for a bone stock older WASR 10/63. What do?
>>
>>34113699

>>
Give me one good reason I shouldnt get a romy wire.

I got an AK for a durable shtf rifle that I could hunt with and do everything I needed to. The way I see it, with a wire folder and the 10 round poly mag that came with my gun paired with the poly handguard, my saiga would be a light hunting rifle that will take anything in my area.

I'm really considering it but I don't know enough about them, usually the folders I see are polymer, uf, or crutches.
>>
>>34113701
My only concern is since this guy isn't asking $750 or some ridiculous price, that there might be something wrong with the rifle. He also refer to the sights as "just fine", lmao
>>
>>34113713
Go for it I guess.
>>
>>34113699
Since it's an older WASR, make sure to check the magwell for wobble. You'll also probably want pictures of the bolt as well to make sure you get a milspec double stack bolt instead of one of the old single stack bolts.
>>
>>34113768
Don't all 10/63's come with double stack bolts?
>>
>>34113736
Anything you can tell me about them? Like I said I barely know anything about them.
>>
>>34113787
I'm not sure, honestly. I'm not especially well-versed in WASRs. You're right though, it may have just been the WASR 10s, but I still think it'd be worth checking the bolt condition anyway.
>>
>>34113713
Whats to know? There is two styles. Lever and push button. Different mechanism. Lever might be cheaper i think.
>>
>>34113799
Quality? I assume like just about everything combloc and ak related its probably pretty good, but its a $100 part and I want to make sure its what I want. I would order online since the shows in my area are absolute shit.

Maybe.

I'm from Killeen so it's about an hour drive.
I wouldn't want to make that trip if it's anything like the Belton gun show.

Hey chimps, you might have an answer for me.
JBI refuses to do an AK104 pistol build with a brace because reasons. Apparently there's something about a side-folder with brace that gives him reservations about doing it, even though it's completely legal
>case in point Galil pistols with folder and brace

You wouldn't happen to know another builder that can do the barrel work like they can? I have a barrel with a gas port already, so it'd have to be channeled and JBI was the only builder that I knew could do it for sure.
>>

Just have them build it with the g2 , and then swap it for a surplus group. Or you van use a arsenal trigger.

>>
>>34118245
I figured that much already, though the same can be said for most pistol builds. That's kind of the point though isn't it?
>Get the pistol built
>file a form 1
>use as pistol
>install the stock after approval

He feels as though it's a liability for some reason, but yet again, it isn't illegal in any way shape or form.
>>
>>34118356
Why not just file form1 and have built once approved?
>>
>>34117581
Can't say. I'd just ask around and see if you can find a builder who has done it before. Ask if they know about Russian combos and the gas ports. If they sound like they don't know what you're talking about then I'd drop it. That's what I'd do.
>>
>>34118385
If I'm waiting months for approval already, why not file and have it built around the same time.
That way, I can use it once it's done rather than wait however long the builder's lead time is on top of the stamp.
>>
>>34118432

Also, I'm aware of that, I just figured I'd ask around to see if anybody had any knowledge of builders before I waste time by asking all of them.
Unfortunately, now I have to ask around and potentially waste the time in order to come to that conclusion.

Oh well, time for some leg work.
>>
>>34118961
Id still file form one now, even when or if you find a builder you will be farther on your way to sbr than if you wait.
>>
>>34118979
Unfortunately I have to wait til July 1 due to Iowa law. Unless I misunderstood and can file despite the fact that SBRs won't be legal until July 1.

Come to think of it, I should be good as long as I don't manufacture an SBR before July 1 and highly doubt the stamp will be approved by then anyway.

Don't think 7.62x39 will be hit that hard. Aren't we manufacturing it here in large quantities?
>>
I really want a preban stamped Norinco Type 56 but I also want to be a unique snowflake, how many people in /akg/ have them?
>>
>>34121174
Lel no. I don't think anybody in the US manufactures 7.62x39 casings. All the hornady steel case stuff is from imported casings.
>>
>>34121135
Yeah, the whole problem is that he bought the rifle second hand. I've asked him and he says he doesn't know, he just knows that Two River Arms put the kit/rifle together. Honestly at this point I might NOPE out of this one. He's probably going to demand a retard-high price for a $400 kit, built with a $100 barrel, on a shitty nodak receiver. I'll just throw a number out for the rifle and report back.
>>
>>34121190
There's a few US companies that make 7.62x39 but it's already like 40 CPR, without the competition of the cheap steel case stuff, it'd probably be 50-55 CPR

Nope, just a few US companies making brass cased shit and it's already expensive.

can I see the bolt carrier on that saiga?

Now I am just really realizing how grave the situation could be. Kinda questioning if I want to drop this money I'm saving on an AK variant and one of these M39 rifles but not enough to stop me just enough to make me think.
>>
>>34121200
Yep, that stuff probably makes up less than 1% of the 7.62x39 ammo that actually gets consumed here. The industry can't support it. It would probably take over a decade to catch up to demand and then it would still settle at at least 40cpr. If Russian ammo got sanctioned then all x39 shooters are fucked.

>>34121202
You can tell by the serials on the bolt that the main parts came from an 86 kit. How unfortunate. There's a chance that's a Bulgarian barrel in there though. The real ones have park jobs like that.

I offered him $1050 for the rifle, $200 for three bulgy mags and two bakelites. I'm willing to be Jewed on the mags as long as I get the rifle for less than an SLR-104fr would be after shipping, transfer, and taxes.

This is the AK you want. Real, AK47, classic, a true classic. This is the WASR of AKs. A gem. http://www.theakforum.net/forums/34-want-sell-ak-rifles/250346-wts-russian-t3-plo-reweld-bfpu-mostly-matching.html

SGLs have quite a few cucked features. And it's cheaper just to run a proper conversion than buying an obsurdely overpriced 2nd hand one for a 100 series rifle

It was more fluid with that setup. Probably just leave the wood stock though.

Mk12 would be legit. Especially with a rail made from metals harvested from asteroids in deep space

That's literally the only thing that Saigas have going for them over SGLs, in terms of what we're talking about. Unless you're talking about the SGL-20 or earlier which are practically irrelevant.

Don't mean to burst your bubble but those were pretty common on Bulgarian kit builds a few years ago and they're pretty shitty. Not worth near as much as a real Bulgarian folder set.
>>
>>34121567
Top quality stuff. Not too expensive either, I think just under 300 after ship for everything? Zenitco discontinued that light though and has a new model of it, no experience with that one but I assume it's well built as well. They are rechargeable though and they WILL ship with Russian plugs, so it also cost me another 20 for a plug adapter
>>
>>34121586
Alright, we'll see if he even replies after that, lmao. I had thought about it earlier. Apparently he was home before to take the picture of the chamber but now he's not home to take pictures of the stock welds. :) Fuck.
