I'm a fan of Geissele, ALG, and Faxon. Although, with the Faxon and ALG I'm not sure I trust the small aluminum wings to take a beating and prevent rotation under really, really hard use. That said, when I fuck with my rifles I fuck gently, so it's not a concern. The ALG just feels great in your hands.

Steel Pros:
Cheap

Steel cons:
Harder on extractor
Bimetallic bullets with thin copper jackets and steel jackets underneath are harder on your barrel and will wear it out faster than pure copper jackets. How much faster?
http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/brass-vs-steel-cased-ammo/
No one has any reason to pick steel cases up so it ends up littering your shooting spot.
Some chamber designs are meant to have the case expand, steel cases don't expand as much as brass, this could lead to slightly increased fouling in the action.

Brass pros:
Less wear on barrel
Proper case expansion to chamber wall
Incentive to pick brass, keep shooting area cleaner, and reload

Brass cons:
More expensive, cost can be offset by increased barrel life (we're talking tens of thousands of rounds here though so it won't matter for 99% of shooters), and picking brass.

All in all it doesn't really fucking matter though.
A2Grip is a steel whore.

Marginally

My logic is that if my rifle works with the worst ammo possible that it will work with the best ammo possible. I would rather have ammo related malfunctions during practice over malfunctions when I actually need the gun. Its practice ammo that helps you practice.

6000 series is cheaper, easier to machine, takes an anodizing process easier.

Out of all of those reasons, the cost of stock and more frequent tool changes are most likely to be the reason 6000 series gets chosen over 7000 series.

Aluminum is so last century. We need to get niggas up on that 2099 tip.

Custom Kydex hoslter is going to be at least $100 shekels. RTI drop will be another $40. New sights are $120 after installation, and some range time to zero them. Light is going to be $110, and threaded barrel is $160.

All told that is $430. I'm not going to drill from the shitty condor holster, but at least make it more convenient to plink with in the woods in the meantime.

Might be some different geometry in there, it's awesome yours works, I bet it's fun. Mine stovepipes at least once a magazine, usually 2-3 times, and gets more filthy than I thought possible. It's a nightmare. But I don't sell guns so I still have it.

My Ruger works pretty well for 15 mags or so, then it's too dirty to cycle reliably.

Maybe I should start shooting .22 without suppressors?

They sold it under dealer cost, so yeah. Chances are someone at the nearby base needed some extra cash and disappeared some unit inventory in the currency of barrels and used parts

You can get something that will work fine for $600. If you want it to work well and look cool, $800-900. If you want it to work really well, look really cool, minimum starting is around $1200. This isn't counting optic for anything.

Oh I thought you meant DBAL. If you're going just a basic single IR laser and want to go cheap get:

https://www.amazon.com/Lasermax-LMS-UNI-IR-LaserMax-UNI-Max-Class/dp/B005FSRDJI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1494247302&sr=8-1&keywords=lasermax+ir

for $143. Bigcat uses one currently and he was doing fine with it.
