Choosing parts for a rifle im going to build, any tips and suggestions?

>16 inch barrel
Might as well buy mine :^
Nib is a bit of a meme, just go with phos. I've had that handguard for an AK, I'd recommend a different tube handguard, and Faxon barrels are pretty shitty

Nothing this anon said is correct. Do the opposite of what he says.

then which bcg you suggest
There is absolutely no reason to go under a 20" barrels.
M193 is the cheapest and most effect out of all the AR rounds period. M193 and its substitutes require a massive PE transfer to KE and 2600 FPS (at best from 16") will not cut it. However a 20" will easily get 55 gr and 66 gr up to 3000 - 3100 fps minimum hand load. M193 and XM193 will penetrate IIIA as M855 will not, I say again WILL NOT penetrate pistol caliber rated armor as IIIA is.
If the enemy is unarmored the bullet will yaw violently and the cannelure will split the bullet into tiny fragments. But these two require high amounts of speed to do so.
Faxon lightweight is GOAT

As for all the little details buying from Brownells and Palmetto State Armory will get you an M16 knock off for maybe $10 dollars under $500 minus S+H if the stars align and you can have all major parts be on sale like at christmas.
The coolest doodad i have is the SJC titan. I've only shot mine a couple of times but claming 78% recoil reduction and no muzzle climb is a steal over its similarily priced competition M4-72.
The only other expensive shit i have is an EOTECH 553 and a Lucid 2-5x magnifier. Magnifier is crap but its the only thing in its class so i decided to get it. I wish it was 4 - 12 x 20mm

many m193 loads will hit 3000 fps out of 16" and fragment at short range
20" AR in 556 in the current year is dumb if it's your only AR
>>33856892
Don't listen to this faggot, he's retarded.
>>33856892
Yeah must be why we still see so many 20" AR's in that hands of 1st world militaries. It's time to get over it, the M16A4 was a mistake, the M16A5 was a dumb idea that Marines were happy went nowhere and 14.5-16" barreled AR's will fulfill the vast majority of needs for the civilian and military shooters.
>>33856931
> i have is an EOTECH 553 and a Lucid 2-5x
The fact you would willingly subject yourself to to a discontinued Eotech that forces you to use an ARMS mount and -then- couple that with a poverty magnifier tells me you shouldn't be listened to.

Rifle length gas systems are factually superior.
>>33854096
What is the intended purpose of this rifle? When you're buying or, in your case, building a rifle keep in mind everything is a compromise.
>>33857840
Wow an unsubstantiated argument and a shift of the goalposts. It checks out considering it's day/k/are on the cusp of summer.
>>33857418
Cite mofo all loads from a 16" come under 2700 fps
>>33857615
Kaiser making C7 for Canada and Denmark at the top of my head. Otherwise plenty of militaries still use 20" barrels on their main arm in inventory 5.56 or not.
Only reason 14" Recce rifles with shit m855 have gotten any where is the transition between mountain to urban during GWOT is so extreme, and that the enemy doesn't have body armor. With mogadishu in the bag for the all knowing forces that are the military acquisitions to peak at, such shit opinions on combat arms the M4 and M4 accessories slithered out even though tactical stances for m16 close quarters were a thing.
Plus M4s look a shit

>XPS was a thing when i was shopping for an optic

>>XPS was a thing when i was shopping for an optic
Exactly. You're a faggot who shouldn't be giving anyone any advice with how shit you are at building an AR.
>>33857983
>I'm supposed to go into the future and buy a non integral part for an objectively better rifle than the competition
>not reductio ad absurdum nor straw manning
Looking good holywood?
is there any reason not to buy a 20" other than MUH CQB and MUH OPERATORS arguments?
>>33858012
Oh damn anon, I'm sorry, are you just a fucking poorfag who can't upgrade when better shit comes out? That's sad.
>>33858026
At least i was raised right
>>33857965
>all loads from a 16" come under 2700 fps
Are you fucking retarded?
>>33857965
>Canada and Denmark
I said 1st world nations.
Kidding(?) aside, your argument falls flat because there are more options than m193 and m855. 20" barrels arent popular with anyone when shorter barreled alternatives exist. regardless if they're being employed for mounted ops, LRP's, or MOUT, 14.5" M4's with a proper ammo selection (mk262 or mk318 if you're less fortunate).
I can't understand what the fuck you're trying to say about Mogadishu, but it was over 20 years ago and I guarantee hardly relevant as far as equipment is concerned.
>>33857868
Competition shooting
>>33858075
Mogadishu is literally the reason M4s were pushed into service, JSOC along with Acquisitions decided the M16A2 sucked at CQB and built an XM177 type deal.
Absolutely when arguing nance why would you go for the shittier option? What is an extra 4" for an extra $10 that adds 200+ more FPS if this option would be a better gun set up.
>>33858113
What type of competition?
>>33858136
it will be used in 3 gun
>>33858424
18" with rifle length gas system is supposedly butter smooth.
>>33857965
Oh jesus I think you're actually serious
>AR
you should have stopped there
>>33857954
How does it shift goal posts exactly? Also its not unsubstantiated. They provide more reliable extraction and also put less ware in internals.
>>33854096
Depends what your budget is
>>33854121
Literally everything here is false
>>33857965
You're out of the loop negro. Due to advances in ammunition design, 11.5" is now the optimal length.
The military doesn't use M855 anymore, they use M855A1.

around $1000
excluding an optic
Do not buy troy anything and definitely don't buy anything from arg fags, ala people like this:
