So I traded my old WASR for a Vepr yesterday. After a night of checking it over and making sure it can feed from my drum and other mags along with other defects it is solid and no defects other than no rear tang.

Has a ACE adapter , MTF minamalist stock , a AK74 style muzzle brake and a Tapco G2 trigger. Has another muzzle brake I can't identify. I think I did alright but trying to sell MTF stock with the pignose adapter and buffer tube for a ACE Skelton stock . Did I do good?

I went to the desert with some friends yesterday to early celebrate easter and brought my WASR-10
I thought the AK was inaccurate?
I was able to hit targets over 400 yards away
Sure it's not bullseye accurate, at least not with the iron sights, but where you aim is where you will hit
Also confirmed the fact that the AK fires better when it's all dirty after shooting at least 300 rounds from it

All in all it was money well spent. Thanks for convincing me to buy an AK as opposed to an AR, /k/

Are there people faking slabsides or something?

What's the best way to strip the paint off of surplus steel mags, and then refinish them for protection? Bought some of the Polish steel mags from Aim surplus, and the refinishing paint is thick, poorly done in some spots, and is glossy; I prefer a dull finish, especially for beater mags. I think you did fine. Ditch that muzzle device, it's too heavy and not functional. Also keep the mft stock or go with a magpul over the ace, again weight is a factor. The rifle is a porker stock.

So I picked up this steel five round 5.45 mag and it isn't wanting to lock into my rifle. I'm 99.99% sure it's because it's hitting the bullet guide and that's keeping it from locking into place, but before I start removing material I just want to make sure that I'm 100% correct in that. I've personally never modded any commercial mags to fit into rifles with proper bullet guides, so is there possibly anything else I'd have to tweak to get it to fit?

Also does anyone have any idea what this magazine would have originally been for? It appears Chinese as it has similar ribs and a flat back hump rather than spine, but I'm not aware of any Chinese 5 round 5.45 mags (and Chinese 30 round 5.45 mags are themselves quite rare). I'm at a loss to what this mag's country of origin could possibly be and what it could have originally been for unless there's something I don't know about or that I'm overlooking about this mag

As long as it fits, it probably won't matter what caliber it was made for, being only 5 rounds, to be honest. 5.45 mags will work for .223 as long as you only load them to like 20 rounds. They're almost the exact same length.

Right now Romy rear loader drums appear to be around $100 just about everywhere.

I have a feeling it's because the worst Korean ones have been flooding the market and they can't charge $60 for those and the higher quality Romys, so the Romys went up.
