Yea was me. Foregrip can do it. So can a rail. Are was designed with those plastic handguards in mind.

Plus large cap magazines, because of spring difference needed, can also do this. Original ars had 10-20 rnd mags.

Fixed stock helps hold everything tight as well. I'd also recommend wadding a bit of paper or something and sticking it in the rear of the lower receiver just below and behind the rear takedown to stabilize the bcg as it moves.

Yea but start with an ar15 bcg rather than a m16 bcg (Google differences).

But to be honest you don't really want a lighter bcg to fix this. Heavier will prevent this motion (it's called carrier tilt). So you might actually want to get a larger bcg. Also try using a larger trigger group (the scar triggers work well).

It's called carrier tilt. It's a result of tight tolerances, poor quality control and the 2 piece upper lower design. I fix it by jamming paper behind the rear takedown and using a scar trigger.

Probably going to weld some extra material on top of the bcg to fix it more permanently.

Yes that should help. Get either a 6.8 SPC bolt or a .300 blkout bolt. both are close enough to 5.56/.223 (6.8 is .243 and .300 is like 7.62 jammed in a 5.56 cartridge) but they both are heavier.

Is the barrel really the only thing needed for an accurate AR? (besides trigger)

Can anyone help me judge the value of some spare beat up uppers I want to sell to fund improvement purchases and so I don't just have a shit ton of uppers lying around....

1) S&W upper, 1:9 twist chromed carbine length barrel with A2 flash hider. Retrofitted with osprey piston kit (I know but it wasn't originally mine and I didn't do it. Part of motivation to get rid of it.)

FSB is blemish to hell around the pins from an attempt by the same moron who put the osprey kit in to remove the fsb.

Handguard cap has a piece at the top cut off after said moron failed to remove fsb. Delta ring weld spring has been cut so handguards would be easier to remove. A2 rear detachable carry handle. Standard charging handle.

2) BCM blemished upper (small Nick). Green Mountain Rifles barrel midlength 1:8 twist chrome lined. A2 flash hider. Midwest industries rail. BCM BCG no charging handle. (Might sell bcg separate or through in charging handle.). Magpul mbus sights.

Biggest issue with this the barrel nut is on real tight. So much so that the slots where the wrench fit in bent and scratches up the inside of the rail. Upper is still good, just the rail and barrel but probably can't be removed very easily.

Both only have a few hundred rounds (<500) through them though I can't personally verify that. They look pretty unused though.


I was thinking $300 at best for both total. I.e. $100 for the super fucked up s&w and $200 for the other.

Thoughts?
