>>
>>33568426

>why is your dbal so far back

Keeps the center of mass farther to the rear, which helps. Less swinging mass hanging all the way out at the end of the barrel. Also obstructs less of the FOV through the ACOG mounted there vs toward the front.

>your cable management is severely lacking

Yeah I should probably zip-tie it down or swap one of my ladder covers for the version with cable hooks. Noted.

>that coban wrap is AIDS

The wrap holds the tape switch in an absolutely perfect position nestled between the tube and the top rail, and also provides a handy bit of extra grip right where my hand goes. It's a little ugly, but very functional.

I could replace it with black wrap I suppose.

what's the point of using a caliber designed for accuracy if you're gonna feed it shit tier russian ammo?
>>
>>33568732
>why would you use a caliber based on a russian round and then buy russian ammo??
Because American 6.5 is about 70cpr and Russian shit is 25cpr. I'm not overly concerned with group size if it'll hit a steel plate at 5-600 yards
>>
>>33568732
It's also ballistically unique being an intermediate intermediate, accuracy isn't its only strong suit. I think it would serve much better in a long barreled bullpup setup like the desert tech that's never coming out

If I had access to a 6.5 barrel and Bolt, my AUG would already be rocking that

This is also true. But Anderson actually does things well on a budget unlike NcStar. Gun probably wouldn't see much use passed 200 yards unless I move anyways, not a lot of long distance shooting to be had in FL aside from OKSS 500 yard shoots every now and then

500-600y on plates is really easy with bog standard 55gr .223 though. I will however admit that heavier projectiles do make impacts far easier to hear though.

Whats really fun is wrangling those little pills down through transonic though.

>>
>>33568977
True, but if I'm gonna have a dedicated rifle to do it I'd just use my FAL, no reason to build an otherwise bland AR for a boring purpose since I hate target shooting like that anyways

That's why the 6.5 appeals to me so much, still cheap, a lot more versatile and interesting, but still a lot of commonality with ARs
>also dat snowflake status

I might go ahead and start building the 16, since every other piece will be the same anyways, and then when I want to spend 500 dollars on a barrel I'll just get a 14.5 M4 profile spun from a blank. Everything else will be fairly cheap looking at it

I just posted the 18" since it is what I shoot most often further out. I've stretched the 10.3" out to 500 as well. Shooting cheap 6.5g just seems odd to me since you can go 7.62x39 with bolt/barrel/mag like 6.5g but buy ammo anywhere instead of having to hunt for it.

I went a step further than a standard x39 AR but I've taken it to 600 with boringly repeatable hits with Monarch FMJ from Academy.

6.5g on paper at least has much better ballistics too and I'll get the benefit of being able to use a standard lower and normal STANAG mags. I tried to grab an SKS to do 7.62x39 but I might just wait to see what happens with NFA and Russian imports before going ahead to do an AK-104 clone

Apparently their barrel nut and attachment systems isn't the best.
Some have had their rails walk off. Dan specifically and other on the interwebs.

I personally like the SLR, Fortis, Seekins, and 2A

For realy tho, as long as you get the quadrails you should be good. Their other offerings are rather heavy compared to the competition (which is odd, considering their quadrails are lighter than most), and their proprietary mounting systems range from either objectively awful to unspectacular.

so some fag just told me about this and now i want one.

http://www.midwayusa.com/product/1094240120979/superlative-arms-adjustable-bleed-off-set-screw-gas-block-ar-15-lr-308

if i use it with my sbr, i still have to use the war upper and the war leaks so it won't be a proper test.
if i build a new upper, i'm looking at $400 minimum since i need a sf mount.

will you guys give me $400 so i can test this thing out?

No, because that rifle is proof positive that god is dead. It's like...can you have multiple abortions? Like, can the first doctor just stop trying and you have to go find another doctor who fails and then you go to another doctor all using different tools and techniques to get such an affront to all that is good and beautiful?

>>
>>33568240
So i'm an AK fag but my dads recent purchase of a .300 AR really makes me want to get an AR

(the fact you can have a 9in barrel without losing much performance is sexy)

but i feel like if i spend $2500 at the local shop, i need to go full retard and get an SBR.

are piston ARs or whatever they're called, really the meme people make them out to be?

I feel like if i'm going to get an AR pistol, i should say fuck it and get a tax stamp so i can have a folding stock.

But how exactly do these fucking folding ARs work with that whole buffer tube thing?

can you still shoot the piston ARs with the stock folded?

if not, i'll just get a normal one.

i know slav shit like the back of my hand, dont make fun of me please for not knowing shit about the AR platform.

(sorry you can fuck off with other memes, i want "MADE IN MY HOME TOWN" on the rifle, plus they have a transferable lifetime warranty)

Well that's retarded, why the hell do people make them then?

I thought that was the point, i mean after thinking about it, i was trying to figure out where the bolt went, but still.

maybe i dont want an SBR now.

>wdhmbt
didn't want people recommending brands, there's a local company Core15 and they make some beautiful pieces of kit.

They're also made in my hometown which is just neat, i know 3 people that own one.

Also they don't care if you dropped 20K rounds down range, or are the 5th owner, their warranty covers the lifetime of the firearm.

every time i see one, i actually want an AR

someone also told me they only make rifles that make sense, they refuse to produce a .223 below 10in or some shit, 8.5in is as short as you can buy the .300

"no"
>>
>>33571424
Yes, go for the SBR.

Pistons are not worth the extra cost unless you have a very specific need such as firing while folded, or shooting while swimming.

The only folder that works with a standard recoil system is from Law Tactical, you still need to unfold it to fire more than a single shot.

*Some* piston uppers allow the use of a folder as they do not leverage the standard recoil system. The old Para TTR, Faxon ARAK, RRA PDS, and Oly OA-93 are popular examples of this.

>>33571579
originally was asking about the piston ars

>>33571586
I'm open to logic explaining why

I know people who own 3, only thing i would have to call them out on is torquing the brake down so fucking tight, my friend loosened the barrel trying to put a new one on, but then again, not sure if thats just an AR thing, considering my muzzle brake wobbles on the AK i expected it to me looser.

again
