Besides the Chicoms and SADF, what's everyone's preferred chest rigs for the AK?
>>
>>33502949
It makes a great animal poker, but its definitely not a knife. A Leatherman is the most useful tool can carry imo.
>>
>>33503039
6SH112 and 6SH116 are both good quality, preference to the 116

>>33503043
True, but even for poking the M9 is a lot more robust. Hard for me to trust a bayonet that will literally flex when I torque it in my hands
>>
Does anyone know how AK bayonets are constructed? I want to make a sword bayonet but dont know where to start
>>
>>33503032
>Get a tactical version scrub
It's too late.

>Also was the why asking about bayonets or just cause?
Serious question, because I have an AK bayo for my WASR and I gave thought to accessorizing my AR with an M9 for pretty much no reason.

Ideally you'll tell me to abandon both and rely on decent knives instead.
>>
>>33503068
Knifemaker here.
Define "constructed" because they are heat treated and the like, so making an actual bayonet will be rough unless you want to spend ridiculous amounts of money on tools.
Alternatively, find the knife-esque object, smack the handles off the tang, weld on a bayonet lug, make new handles, and boom.

Just remember to keep the steel relatively cool while you're doing any reshaping and you should be good.
>>
>>33503100
I mean how is the catch and such conntected to the blade. Is it just one tang?

If you have a 16 inch carbine AR I'll tell you right now the bayonet won't fit. It's only made to fit 14.5 carbine with an A2 hider and a 20 with the same, but it will fit well on a 16 midlength. Haven't tried on a 14.5 pinned though

That said, I love my M9, I use it for a lot of otherwise mundane tasks, toss it around as a toy, and it's as good a prybar as it is a knife. Other than that though it's not something you'd get a ton of use out of unless you go out of your way to use it or have an abnormal amount of things to pry apart. If you have 80-100 bucks to spend on it and just want something cool, I'd say do it, but if you want something ultrautlitarian then bayonets aren't the thing for you

Also they weight close to a pound so you probably don't want to drop it on the end of your gun and shoot a lot with it. The one place AK bayonets win favor is they're a shitton lighter

>I want to make a sword bayonet but dont know where to start

leaf springs from the scrap yard are a good idea. you can clamp them down in a vice and grind them to shape. spring steel is usually incredibly tough. if you don't let it get hot during your grinding, you can retain the heat treat. you probably will not be able to find springs that are long and thick enough to allow for you to make a real sword bayonet that's straight because of the bend in the springs but a smaller knife should be possible.
>>
>>33503118
If i remember correctly, its a groove in the tang that the lug slides into, and a button on the side that keeps the catch in place (push button to lock, push button and pull to remove) the bayo.
So you'd either have to graft a bayonet handle assembly onto whatever you're trying to use, which unless you're a solid welder would be sketchy, or try and start with a piece big enough to groove the tang on.
That said, i dont actually own an AK, i just enjoy yalls threads. If anyone with an ak bayonet could post a couple pictures of the attachment system id appreciate it, maybe i could answer this anons question a little better.

Button is only required to unlock, locking tab is sloped in the rear so just slipping it over is enough to attach. It's kept in place by a very strong spring

>If you have a 16 inch carbine AR I'll tell you right now the bayonet won't fit

I know it won't. AR doesn't have a bayo mount of any kind.

>>

Sure thing, if you know anything about the RU proto game there are still unicorns rearing their heads that have never been seen before.

Ever seen the slab quadstack 7.62? I have owned and seen more than enough to know when something has been factory made or modified after the fact.

Again Proto means none battlefield where as the BFPU 17rnd slab is obviously hacked down. the 20rnd is fit and finished like a 30rnd in terms on how it was cut and molded.

Rebuttal, how many RU mags have you had personal contact with to gear your experience with? I have seen over 2,000 RU mags...I am OCD and look for small details, believe what you will end of day.

I view the slr107 or equivalent as the only competition. I'd still pick my vz personally because I love the way the folder works and stripper clips too much. Personal preference.
The vz58 is hands down the best rifle I've ever laid my hands on over the years, if I had to give up my whole collection minus one gun, the vz would be the keeper.
I can't speak as much for vz2008s, as I've only used one a little bit and don't actually own one. The fit/finish was certainly not up to par with the real vz, but it works fine and was an absolute steal for 400 bucks.
---pros
>folder stock easily swings out after you push the button as you shoulder the rifle, extremely fast and easy transition
>reliable as anything
>accurate
>fixed stock is the most comfortable military stock I've ever used
>much easier to clean than an ak(main areas), and only slightly tougher if you actually pull the bolt/dust cover area apart
>weight is good, weight on vz2008 is even better
>pretty compact rifle in both length and width
>BHO so you know when you are empty
>speedload mags very quickly with stripper clips
>much better safety(at least on vz58 where you push trigger finger forward to take it off and your finger lands right in the trigger area)
>about a 10/10 fit and finish on vz58, vz2008 is gritty feeling and not finished as well, but works fine
>trigger pull very smooth on czech vz
---cons
>fairly heavy trigger pull(even heavier on the vz2008)
>mag release is harder to get at than it could be
>I guess some people find the folder to be a bit uncomfortable(I think it feels great)
>commercial aftermarket parts cost a lot
>tougher to scope, but doable
>they should have used a two screw system to attach the stock to the gun(the stock can wobble over time if you don't loctite the screw a bit)

If you want to know if the steel core is hardened (AP) or just mild steel like 7n6 and other steel core surplus ammo, take a hacksaw to the core. If it cuts into it, it's mild. If not, armor piercing.

I'd think a hardened steel core would be sharpened or something to aid penetration on top of that.
Either way, all my ammo tests show that speed kills my steel more than raw power. 556 out does everything on my very hardened steel.
>>
>>33507724

No clue. But I do know he wouldn't be able to cut into hardened steel core with a hacksaw, so if he wants to know if it's AP that's how he can find out.
Or was that you that posted the pics of the cut open ammo?

What do you want me to tell you? I was skiing in Utah and had an accident due to me going off trail. My knee hit my front teeth and pushed them back from whence they came. The brackets of my braces got stuck to my upper lip and had to be cut off with shears. My front teeth were not visible except for tiny white nubs in my gum. A dentist shot me up with novocaine and pulled them back down with pliers.

If I looked I could probably even find my ski pants with a hole in the knee area where my teeth punctured them.

No, buy a maverick88 if you must, then buy a wasr.

If you got a kit, you'd have to purchase a receiver and barrel then have somebody competent to build it. That'll push you out of the inexpensive category.

Best bet is an I.O. rifle. Beautiful American made product that comes with a lifetime warranty.

I had my wisdom teeth and one of my lower incisors pulled with only local anesthesia, not sure how normal that is but it was really weird. Didn't hurt at all but being awake and hearing the sounds of drills and them cutting sections of teeth out was really gross. Hearing the sharp pops and cracks of them getting the root out of the jaw was the worse, that and seeing them take the extracted teeth out of my mouth (I wimped out and closed my eyes after the first one).

Everyone else I know that had had their wisdom teeth pulled said they were knocked out and that it was weird for me to have been awake for it.

My first oral surgery was with laughing gas, which everyone says makes the whole thing go by like a dream, not for me
My second was wisdom teeth and I was supposed to be totally knocked out on the IV. Fall asleep, wake up with no wisdom teeth. Nope. Both times they placed a cloth over my eyes but I could see under it.

I originally got my dremel and cut off wheel to open it and didn't do well that's when I got the bolt cutter and sheared it open with that. This is the the label off the box they came in. Yeah I was born 1994,this ammo is one year older than me fml. I don't think it's hardened though.

Best way to clean after shooting corrosive?
>>
>>33511716
Pour warm water over everything after you finish shooting then go home and clean as you normally would

Be careful about how you pour too, if you heat your rifle up to a few hundred degrees the water will boil immediately when it hits the chamber and splash back

Corrosive ammo contains salts and shit like that, so pouring warm water flushes that out, leaving you with just carbon and what not

That's as far as I understand it at least, there's probably a more scientific answer to it that I haven't looked into

A full length AK is so long that indoors someone could grab the barrel and keep it pointed away from them with ease if they caught you unawares. What do you do then? They could easily hold the barrel pointed away from them with one hand. And stab you with the other.
