They're more interesting from a historical standpoint than say, ARs. AR-15s for the military, especially during the early years where they tried a bunch of different versions, were all Colt and they're well known. You can even go see the prototype rifles. I think I might buy a parts kit and do a build. Would wind up costing about the same at the end, minus the hard case and accessories the DSA comes with. I could build an Egyptian though which would be pretty neat. I'm also considering fabricating a bipod leg mount for my bike. Would be a piece of 30mm steel with a flat crossbar on top with cutouts for the bipod legs. Maybe a lock with some wing nuts.

Being AR specific, I just think they're dull to shoot on top of 223/556 being an uninteresting cartridge to me. Plus, 556 is instant death to steel targets vs everything else I shoot, which is annoying. ARs are great guns, don't get me wrong, they're just boring as hell to me. They don't feel like "real gun" the way I want them to.
