I imagine the reason why there aren't a lot of field exercises in Scotland is due to the SNP being anti-military in general. They dislike NATO and the British Armed Forces being a symbol of the Union (Scots, Welsh, Irish and English dying for each other and their Kingdoms). Also the lack of Naval involvement is due to the Scottish Government setting up their own Fishing Protection service and told the Royal Navy to fuck off and let them do it themselves. Then they had the gaul to cry about the lack of protection from Russian Ships because all the Naval vessels were down south patrolling.

I seem to remember a few days before the referendum vote the leaders of the various parties coming up from England and getting down on their hands and knees and pleading with us not to leave and offering lots of free goodies so we cant be that bad.

Independence will come, if you take out the over 65's from the referendum results it was a Yes, the oldies remember the good old days of Hong Kong, Rhodesia and flying Buccaneers from HMS Eagle.
