What type of fools would believe this?

At most, this is a fleet carrier. A glorified LHA.

>The difference in capability between the F-35B and F-35C is significant. Due to the STOVL requirement, the F-35B has a shaft-driven lift fan integrated with its engine thus restricting the aircraft’s internal fuel capacity to 13,500 lbs; in contrast, the internal fuel load of the F-35C is 19,145 lbs. The difference in internal fuel is highlighted by the range and combat persistence of the respective aircraft; the F-35B has a mission radius of approximately 463 nautical miles and a time over target of fifteen minutes; for the F-35C, the figures are 613 nautical miles and thirty-six minutes respectively.

The British tax payers literally paid billions for a super carrier that can't fight against a modern adversary.

When it is in working condition it does its job.

I think it can do about 15-20 sorties per day. It carries Hawkeyes so it can do fleet defense and C&C over land for coalition planes as well.

The HMS Queen Elizabeth will do a lot more sorties but will lack the Hawkeyes. I think they have to constantly keep helicopters buzzing around at 10k feet just to provide basic protection.

Barring the Argies who are even poorer than the Bongs kick up another fuss on the Falklands, the QE is supposed to work with American assets who do have the AWACS. Mant US carriers are also not nuclear powered. My theory is that the QE is to keep the naval aviation skills alive during peacetime for the Bongs more than anything else.

I get the feeling that the project is partly about saving the flagging ship building industry in Britain, everything could have been done cheaper, but that wouldn't have realised the political goals of the project.

Also, committees of politicians got all excited by the shiny new toys that could be bought from the US.

It would have made more sense just to put a catapult on it, and buy or lease a load of F-18s (not as sparkly or expensive as the F-35 but sill better than anything Britain currently has), but what place does common sense have in procurement processes?

We'll just have to put up with them for the next 40 years.

The Forrestals were supercarriers and they displaced less than QE does. They were longer, faster, and had catapults for F-14's and 18's so they can do Supercarrier things.

QE as it stands is absurdly huge and expensive for what it can do, which is carry about twice as many planes as a LHD but none of the Marines.

As a part of the SDSR, the two QE class, along with the now large F-35B buy, were determined to be what we could use for WARfighting ability.

They are designed to protect British interests with sufficient power to actually remain relevant, not be a vanity project.

Its the reason we're going to have both operational rather than mothballing one, and the reason we wanted two in the first place, rather than having a pretty looking CdG that we can't use half the time.

So jog the fuck on.

He's right though.

60 year old US super carriers could do things the Queen Elizabeth can't in 2016.

They were flying sometimes up to 5 different types of fixed wing aircraft right up until the 1990s.

They were launching Tomcats and Hornets against Saddam right along side Nimitz CVNs.

It spoke to the incredible versatility and adaptability of US super carrier design.

The QE, realistically, will like go to the graveyard only having used F35Bs.

Why do the brits keep making catastrophically stupid decisions for their military?

They scrapped the Nimrods before they were even finished production! Lo and behold they had a submarine hunt a short while ago and they had to bring in planes from Canada to do submarine hunting because they scrapped the plane the Nimrod was supposed to replace. And the Nimrod. So now they have nothing.

This is happening all over europe. Do people think that just because things have been relatively calm since the end of the cold war that shit can't hit the fan in 5-10 years? It's insane what kind of bullshit they pull to save a tiny amount of money in the short term.

If we're caught with our dicks in our hands and finally admit we need to have a functioning military we're fucked because it'll take many years to build the capacity that we would need.

>>

>Implying wasting deck and hangar space on dedicated single-role aircraft is a good idea

Multiroles are the future (and the present), but you definitely need specialized support aircraft.

AWACS first and foremost, not having fixed wing AWACS that can loft a powerful and heavy radar a decent distance and keep it there for a long time is extremely important. F-35 has a fantastically powerful radar but it can't point it in all 4 directions at one, and the pilot has to fly his own plane before telling other pilots how to fly theirs.

Dedicated logistics is pretty key too. The Greyhound makes a ton of sorties. You need a VIP transferred to the carrier 1000 miles out at sea? too bad, helo won't make it and there's no twin seat F-35. You have an emergency and need some parts badly? well you better sail off station and into land based helo range to do it.

V-22's have the best safety record of any rotor wing asset in the US military.

Almost every loss of a V-22 to date is due to known pilot error (performing decents in excess of maximum rates like a retard)

Stop meming.

Americans like to bash the QE but they'd be the first ones to bitch if we scrapped them completely and did away with our expeditionary capabilities.

The entire OP is just irrelevant bitching.

It's just a shame /k/ has let this meme become the standard so nobody can actually talk about these ships here.

>Pilot follows the military & boeing stated limits/regulations
>Crashes because the plane is a piece of shit & all the specifications on the plane is lies

good stuff
So many "pilot error" crashes shows you how much of a disaster it really is.

Also there's countless unreported class A incidents, which is how it gets its "good safety record"

If they're unreported how do you know about them

The page has its citations

It literally is why the osprey has so many "hard landings" that result in fatalities and 20 injuries.

When they are needing rebuilds or scrapping planes without any reported Class A's, you know something fishy is going on.

I was referring the the QE's.

That's just another carrier I like.

It can operate 30 gimped F-35's. Ford can operate 60 not gimped F-35 + real AWACS + Growlers. And Ford is also faster.

How the shit is that 80% capability?
>>
>>28905608
It's so when one inevitably breaks, they still have one left
>>
>>28905734
I'm saying ONLY having two is a limiting factor in a carrier that size.

Why would we need carriers anyway? Apparently our biggest ally America has plenty to protect us. Let them waste their money while we enjoy a strong economy.

>Skim through image
>It regurgitates the fallacious newspaper headlines about the UK having more violent crime than the US

Different methods of classification meaning that even a non injurious shove counts as a violent crime in the UK.

Meanwhile real violent crimes like murder, rape, and theft are all higher in the US, and stabbings are only marginally higher in the UK.

It's okay though, the denizens of /k/ aren't interested in the facts of this because it hurts their internal narrative. They won't look into it so you can keep posting.

>How many hundreds of people have been killed or maimed by this inherently unsafe pile of shit aircraft?

In the last decade? Less than every other rotorcraft in use by the US military.

No, we do not use 'Vietnam era' helicopters.

>That delivers inferior performance at higher cost than any competitor?

Thats a funny way of saying being significantly faster and longer ranged while only being outdone in payload by big heavy lift helicopters.
>>
>>28906766

As much as there is bullshit shitposting in this thread, the immigration stuff isn't so bullshit.

Yes, these kinds of images are cherrypicked, but it's not just London and everywhere else is feeling it now or may be soon.

It might not be happening where you are yet, but here I'm seeing a massive influx amongst the young people on the way to school.

When I was in the very same school there were maybe 20 non-whites attending altogether, now 10 years later it seems like every other kid I see going to the school is either black or Indian/Pakistani.
>>
>>28906996
You see all these liberals moving away from the areas colonized by non-whites, then going "hurr whats the big problem?"

As if we don't live in democracies, as if our numbers our not shrinking, as if these third worlders wouldn't gladly oppress and kill us when they get the power...
>>
>>28906711
Not since the prototype phase. It's had the best safety record of any rotary aircraft since it went into full service. You are far more likely to die in a blackhawk than an osprey.

Must admit, they aren't what the USA would call a super carrier, but they are much more capable than the regular carriers we scrapped.
We're also getting some newer frigates soon as well, but I personally think we should have gone for catobar carriers, even if they were slightly smaller , they would have been able to field a wider array of airframes.
But on the whole, both the new carriers will allow us to continue to work alongside the USA, as well as bomb future inhabitants of our country.
Yes I'm a bong, and I hope that labour never get back in power with corbin at the helm, he'd happily get rid of our armed forces all together, and has also said that the Falklands should be given to Argentina, he's a cunt.

We have Ghurkas and Fijians. The Scots Dragoon Guards are nicknamed the Scots Fiji Guards there's that many of them - enough to do at least one entire Squadron.

So it's not that bad at all. In terms of standard blacks though, nah, not many. Mainly because they're all too busy trying to ape their US cousins and be gangstas.
