>None of us will live long enough to see the next golden age of firearms experimentation
I'm getting sick of everything getting churned out these days being another striker fired polymer 9mm or the 7000th piston driven attempt at an AR/AK killer with a monolithic rail (failing to realize it's not going to dethrone the AR/AK if they market it at twice the cost of them)
Shit mang, just imagine what crazy designs will be made when they manage to make batteries that could support laser or gauss rifles, hell, even practical caseless ammo could lead to some cool shit.
I don't know if we'll see practical caseless ammo or personal railguns any time soon, but telescoping polymer cased ammo looks very promising. Maybe its benefits vs the M4 will make the military switch over to using it.
>the 7000th piston driven attempt at an AR/AK killer with a monolithic rail (failing to realize it's not going to dethrone the AR/AK if they market it at twice the cost of them)
Holy fuck I hate that shit.
Its literally designing a firearm that is overcomplicated and doesn't function as well as the aforementioned rifles and then trying to sell it for $2K plus.
It makes no sense
No they shouldn't. If you ever hold an stg or even a repro it's just awkward. I'd rather take a bullet button which is a pain in the ass on an STG since it's not designed to drop the mags free you still have to pull the mag out.
>Modern 5.56x45 SKS that still has a 2 piston gas system and comparatively modern ergonomics
>It weighs like 12Ibs because they didn't want to slim down the overbuilt aspect of it while adding new parts
Muh fuckin' dick, fuck this high speed, low drag shit, lets seem some really heavyweights enter the arena for a change.
>Shot show 2017
>All the new AR's and piston driven "totally not trying to be a 5.56 SCAR guys" rifles stand next to their manufacturers irradiating smug superiority
>Suddenly the metal of all the rifles goes cold as they hear a brutish roar of pure rage that human ears cannot hear erupt from the doors
>When the doors open they hear the phrase "SKS-17 IS HERE! SKS-17 SMASH!"
>All the rifles stare in horror as the hulking monstrosity of a rifle is carried into the building
>The creature looks like someone took the wood stock off an SKS, added detachable magazines, mounted it to an StG lower, and repainted it
>As the easily 12Ibs beast is carried to its table all the other high speed, low drag rifles actually develop pours to sweat
>They are uneasy, but certain their familiarity will win the day
>As the day goes by less and less come to see any of them, all wish to see first hand this abhorrent creature that has captured the hearts of men with its sheer power
>Now the rifles are truly worried as the monster screams "AH-HAHAHA! PUNY RIFLES ARE WEAK! SKS-12 IS STRONG! SKS-12 WILL WIN THE DAY AND CRUSH ALL OTHER PLASTIC RIFLES LIKE SKULLS OF PUNY MAN ENEMIES!"
>The rifles hold fast, but once the MSRP is revealed they realize all hope is lost
I heard /k/ommandos in need of a New SKS
I propose to you, a modern SKS that will accept AR10 barrels, simple bolt lengthening or shortening allows feeding for cartriges from 9x19 up to 7.62x54R, maybe even 300WM
Optional FAL recoil buffer in classic stock config, and capable of having an unholy AR buffer in tacticool pistol grip config.
a magwell adapter to accept a variety of standard magazines, in addition to original internal mag and larger internal mag.
full length cz-style target stock with bayo lug hidden as a barrel tension screw and cleaning rod retension, and adjustable gas/piston system set to 'closed' requires tapping the pilot holes in the regulator to achieve semi auto fun for sale to AWB states.
open source plans for making receivers out of stamped sheet metal are a must. bolt design so simple, it can be achieved with cordless power tools, can fit in original SKS furniture with MINIMUM modification ie: an extra brass screw here or there, and extra bedding
possibility of using AK or FAL triggers, depending on final bolt carrier group\charging handle design.
ships with mini reddot sight mounts, or small picatinny rail section where ladder sight is traditionally, back end of receiver has integrated sight(or another section of rail, again dependant upon charging handle/BCH)
The gun that killed the desire for light weight and polymer.
a guy named xtriggerman did that already, that might even be his rifle in your pic. but my goal is a completely open source firearm, that can be be built in a garage, is totally legal for sale in all 50 states, and has ultimate modularity, like a low tech ar15, totally-not-a-battle-rifle looking battle capable rifle like a gunsite, or a mossman mvp, but not proprietary and will shoot anything you want as long as you have the barrel, a wrench, and a bolt
I need to get measurements from an sks45, a stamped receiver chink sks, a yugo, and a metric FAL. then time in CAD, then proof of concept on 3d printed models, then real testing on stamped sheet metal. once I get there, kickstarter.
we need a great marketing campaign, how about the Rhodesia poster but instead of FAL it will show SKFAL and the slogan will be "BE A CYKA AMONG BLYAT".....or Ivan's quote will do
you mean like the girl version of the deez nuts guy? damn, you need a tinfoil bag so not even superman can see you banging her
>Entirely new line of SKFAL rifles hit the markets
>Available in everything from .22lr to 9mm to 7.62x54r, hell, we even got a .50 beowulf version
>All of them are like 12Ibs, 9mm recoil like a .22, 5.56's recoil like 9mm
>All for a mid three digit MSRP
still figuring out the best way to do 22lr, i think a chamber sleeve would be the coolest way to go about it, but that is on back burner with the direct impinged system swap and mag feed problem fixes.
sorry guys, gonna have to say no initially, to attract sponsorship. but after stamped plans are up do as thou wilt.
kits I sell, followers of the Kube will get a hefty discount with "ave nex alea" or the other one, "cubis necium" or the like, along with murder/k/ube rollmarks
the reason there hasn't been another wave of mass experimentation is
A) lack of a world wide conflict to give incentive to innovate
B) legislation worldwide trying to keep all the exciting and cool stuff out of the hands of the common person in all the countries capable of innovation because of their 1st world status has made technology in general stagnate
>girl version of the deez nuts guy
haha! no, nowhere near that bad, solid 3/10 face, but the body of a functioning barbie
>not sure if serious
pretty cool, even better when you know and like the person.
Or on E, that always takes it up a notch(keep Viagra on hand though)
honestly the way of the bullpup is the future. if we can make a light, easy nato caliber bullpup, that's gonna be it for a motherfucking long time. think a SCAR bullpup, and that's what I think firearms are headed into. after that, hell if i know
I blame the NFA. We could have so much cool shit if it wasn't for that piece of shit legislation.
I have some ideas that I think would be practical and useful, but they'd be 200% illegal without reams of paperwork and a bunch of money in tax stamps.
honestly obama needs to get us in a real full blown war with isis so we can innovate. our technology - in all respects, is stagnant. it's just the same shit, maybe lighter or runs a bit faster, but we haven't had some real, true innovation in at least a decade.
this is my post.
my thoughts for the innovation of firearms from here is like so
bullpup, 7.62x51 modular designed rifle like a scar. versions for heavy support would be belt fed with a very light trigger pull and a high rate of fire, both versions with a polymer frame and striker fired. forward charging and non-moving bolt is the way of the future. but hey, i'm some random bastard rambling on the idiot so i'll shut the fuck up now.
goddammit, I said that wrong. I meant like on a scar, how you just charge it and it locks back forward, so you don't lose a couple fingers. I'm really tired so I forget the proper term right now, apologies.
