Yeah, yeah.... inb4 banned for politics...
Under this wonderful progressive new legislation in Oregon, your doctor, teacher, boss, or family member can snitch on you if they *think* you're experiencing a 'mental health emergency.' At which point a SECRET firearms purchasing hold is placed upon you, and the legislation specifically says they don't have to inform you until you try and buy a firearm. (They don't actually TAKE your firearms like they do now in Califailia, but I'm sure that dangersous loophole will be plugged next year... or the year after... or...)
The guy who introduced it is apparently pic related. The Democrats control both houses of the legislature in Oregon, and their new governor is a batshit-crazy bisexual who's been pushing the whole trannie-kids-in-either-school-restroom issue. So when and if this Soviet-style bullshit makes it to the floor, it will pass.
Oregon /k/ommandoes, I suggest you raise hell. And I suggest the rest of you keep an eye on your own supposedly free states.
Nah. By and large you're doing it to yourselves. Those metrosexual assholes in every large American city from Seattle to Austin to New Yawk aren't from California. They're your own people. They're part of the same phenomenon.
Fight or die.
Po-Ju is so good
As a firearms enthusiast and some with common sense, I would say anyone who is diagnosed as on the verge Of a breakdown should be monitored and regulated. Should be mandatory for all doctors to report this. Only a fucking idiot would argue mental disabilities pose no threat.
Dont associate this liberal marxist leftist fucking horseshit with fascism.
Fascism is the best government system.
It's clear that democracy has failed. The majority of people are too fucking stupid for democracy.
Sure they should be monitored, but your rights should not be removed without due process. Someone who has had a bad day should not have their rights taken away.
Say your wife dies and you are found having a break down outside the liquor store. You are committed for evaluation. Now you can't own guns forever even though therapy worked. You aren't a threat to anyone else.
There's no right to appeal. There's no way to reinstate your right. It's not like you've committed a crime.
I'm for a temporary ban after being committed for a mental health issue. Maybe 30 or 60 days. I'm sure I'll catch hell on here from people saying it, but that's okay. You're committed for whatever, your rights are removed for a month or two, you are cleared by a medical professional, and your rights are reinstated.
There has to be a process. It can't simply be the judgment of a Joe Shmoe police officer to remove your rights forever just because you've had a bad day. It'd be different if you committed a felony during your break down-- we already have laws to enforce that.
The first part of the bill doesn't sound like a bad idea but there doesn't seem to be any clear way to have gun rights restored and it sounds like it could be easily abused. If you had a way to flag someone that would then require a mental evaluation that doesn't sound like an awful idea.
The problem is that it can be put into place by your wife your on the outs with. Or an angery mother in law.
They need no proof and there is no penalties for false claims. There is no actual disorders covered or not covered, there is no perscribed method for knowing youve been listed other than trying to buy a gun
I think the thing that really gets me about this is since this is since this bill is flagged as an emergency we layman can't vote on it. It may just be my experience but Oregon has quite a few pro-gun liberals
>snitch on you if they *think* you're experiencing a 'mental health emergency.'
Could be a problem. No due process, etc.
>their new governor is a batshit-crazy bisexual who's been pushing the whole trannie-kids-in-either-school-restroom issue.
Wandering off topic a bit there. And providing probable cause for a 'mental health emergency' declaration. Stay focused. Pick your battles carefully.
Saddest part about this is that whether people actually need the professional help or not they'll shy away from the doctor because you either come back with the same rights you had or less than you had.
Shit even regular medical care is more trouble than it's worth nowadays, its really a shame.
Same reason I know a lot of pilots hardly speak to the doctor, it can only fuck them.
Portland has a lot of hipster gun owners. I'll go to gun shows sometimes and mixed in with all the Fudds and Mall ninjas, you'll see dudes in skinny jeans and Adidas buying AKs with the cash from their marketing or graphic design jobs.
>their new governor is a batshit-crazy bisexual who's been pushing the whole trannie-kids-in-either-school-restroom issue
Way to make your message easy to dismiss by any moderates. You're just like the NRA, bashing the 'godless left'. Keep alienating potential allies, and watch as your gun rights slowly slip away.
Yeah, shut the fuck up, no.
Californians aren't doing anything to any state but California. Oregonians are voting in Oregon, that's why these things happen here and anywhere else.
I don't see the problem with it.
It's a firearms hold; you'd be able to look further into it, and most likely get your gun in the end. It doesn't take away existing guns.
The left isn't going to stop, and some sort of concessions need to be made without flat out taking away guns.
Basically if someone thinks you're a nutter, you gotta explain yourself. I'd already take a gun away from a friend if I thought he was going to off himself or do something similar, the legislation falls close to that.
Also, why you need to bring up the bisexual trannie stuff, is obsolete. Ya, probably means he would be more likely to pass it, but I don't think you need to bring that around /k/ since that seems to be a large percentage of our demographics. That's not really gun related either.
This is why I don't use a tripcode Phil, and I've been here like 5 years now (we've argued several times, all in all you're probably not a bad guy personally, but there's a shitload of stuff I disagree with you vehemently on. You'd probably be ignoring me right now, if I didn't always post anonymously).
I've fucked up before too, and in worse ways than trap porn. But the thing I love about 4chan is that it lets people post anonymously, which whether I like what people say or not, let's people post post how they honestly feel about a topic without worrying about suffering for it.
And getting around self-censorship is a powerful tool for discussing issues (even though this place devolves into shitposting a LOT). Not to mention that not having the baggage of your previous posts, though that's something of a double-edged sword (I've also seen people referring to me by my posting style and opinions, though). And that's why I'll never use Reddit for anything aside from niche topics like Elite: Dangerous (it's a video game).
>since this is since this bill is flagged as an emergency we layman can't vote on it.
This right here. THIS is what you should be using to fight this. Bring this to your reps and demand that it's a loophole being used to strip away your rights that needs to be closed. This isn't martial law, where is the 'emergency'? This is simply them using an arbitrary declaration to sneak through unpopular legislation that removes a right without due process and push an agenda. This should be illegal.
This is how they passed the private sales background check, so you can bet that until they get dragged across the carpet for doing so that this is how they will pass every single gun bill that's drafted
>Only a fucking idiot would argue mental disabilities pose no threat.
The mentally ill have no higher rate of violent acts than the general population.
The idea that the mentally ill are all axe murderers waiting to snap is a hollywood fabrication on the same level as "silencers make a gun go phht phht."
You are part of the problem.
Using the smashmouth power of the party and state to disenfranchise, rob, humble, fuck over, kill, or imprison an entire segment of the populace sounds an awful lot like the textbook definition of fascism to ME. This is how it begins. We all know how it ends.
The funny thing is, if you had just quietly let it slide and pretend you were into that sort of thing, our odd little /k/ommunity probably wouldn't have thought anything of it.
But if it's any consolation... to me, you'll always be the sharkfucker.
>California is the root cause of all evil
I want this meme to end
I also would like better gun laws
But since all the usual faggots existing in the big cities make all the decisions and my votes not with a damn I'm gonna fuck off to Arizona
Fuck off with the >all commies are from cali
I just decent gun laws and not assholes running everything here its suffering I want out man before trump decides to build a wall to keep all the faggots from San Fran, LA, and Diego getting out
Basically not every Californian is from the shit piles that can barely be called "cities" that I've metioned above some of us just want freedom
>to me, you'll always be the sharkfucker.
stop confusing fascism with communism, phil.
what the president is supporting is progressive totalitarianism with the intent leveraging communism.
Im honestly getting tired of explaining it to you and at this point Im apt to believe that you're either retarded or intentionally misrepresenting fascism because you're a closet commie.
what? i'm entitled to my opinion, regardless of how asinine and insane it might be
but do we really need to know what katy perry is doing on twitter? or what some faggot with ironic facial hair in L.A thinks about some roadside burrito he bought? or what ISIS is planning to do with our waifus?
yeah you can say "Ignore it" but it's still there, screaming, farting, and flailing on the floor like an epileptic at a rave club
>The left isn't going to stop, and some sort of concessions need to be made
You typed this unironically, didn't you? I'm not going to berate you and call you names. I'm not going to sperge and rage. I just want you to know that you're worse than the liberals that push this shit. At least they believe in something and have the sack to fight for it.
