You have $500 and the Internet. What gun do you buy? Don't say theoretical prices that you might be able to buy a gun for. Provide links.
I would buy a used H&R/NEF single barrel 20 guage with a nice tiger striped wood stock, and the case hardened receiver. I think those are beautiful guns. I would probably have the barrel cut down a bit, and make it a ranch gun/trunk gun. those usually run 200-300$ depending, so I might squeeze a mosin in there if I could.
I wouldn't buy it with my money but if I was given $500 to buy a gun I might.
Just the $500
$500 + current cash
Probably a top-tier Schmidt-Rubin 1911 long rifle, or a really really nice Steyr M95 long rifle. Leaning more towards the Steyr though: I love how those fit me.
Or maybe a Finnish M39.
I'm thinking of buying a Jericho 45. They're underrated guns.
>copycat of an Ingram M11
What is the point of do that?
Not right this second, but there were a bunch of 308 converted MAS 49/56 rifles on gunbroker for about 500 not long ago. IDK if it's a temporary drought or not.
Buyer beware, apparently the first batch had some major lemons. Mine works fine, and is a pretty cool rifle for 485 cash. And I definitely wouldn't buy the one currently on gunbroker, it's missing the grenade sights and still selling for 100 above what I've seen recently.
It must suck to have such high standards that you can only enjoy really expensive and/or overpriced stuff.
And you'd still have a lot of spare change left for ammo.
I love my cz vz58, but I have to say the vz2008 I handled, except for minor flaws, was an excellent rifle once the slant brake was removed. It shot like shit with that on.
If you dont glock your not trying hard enough.
check out the crazy conversion kit for said Jericho
Police trade-in P220. Sexy guns.
Just picked one up for $525, including 2 boxes of .45 and some snap caps.
We .460 rowland now.
That's quite a bit of fun for 500 bucks.
I have so much fun busting clay and ice with cheap 54r.
Then spend half of that 500 on a nice and high speed pellet rifle if you can't afford to shoot anything centerfire. You'll still have quite a bit of fun per shot, and be able to shoot till you literally can't stand to take another shot for the other 250. Also, you probably don't even need to pay to go to a real range to do it. Just make sure you get one with "nice" irons, like a gamo or something.
Who said anything about a range. All I've been saying is that 500 is not a lot for anything.
It's one the cheapest center fire rifles and ammunitions; yes I agree that's whole lot of fun but I'd rather save up and get something nice. Unless you can find something used or a friends willing to sell you a firearm or bullet pews.
I'm not OP. I never said I can't afford anything. I already have plenty of bb guns and pellet rifles to occupy my hands with, but those are usually left behind as I have plenty of .22lr at my dispose.
If I had to do it... I'd honestly probably buy a marlin 795, a few magazines; and the rest on 22lr.
>but I'd rather save up and get something nice
If your budget is that low and you can't increase your fun money fairly quickly, I'm a firm believer in the nugget. It's roughly as good of shot as you are, has decent sights, and plenty of power & fun.
>If I had to do it... I'd honestly probably buy a marlin 795, a few magazines; and the rest on 22lr.
Me? I'm very different. I pretty much sloughed off any 22lr shooting for my pellet rifle instead. I pretty much only use 22lr in my sr22, never for my rifles. I'll always jump up to a centerfire rifle instead of grabbing the 10/22. That won't change unless 22lr actually becomes cheap again.
Right now, I consider it cheap for pistol practice, but overpriced and too boring per dollar for any rifle shooting.
For the second time, I am not OP. 500 is not my budget. We are just coming up with ideas for this poorfag. I said a nugget and 3 cans. Or a marlin and a shit load of 22.
You've told him to not pay for a range and get a pellet gun.
Do you see how this is making me leave the thread?...
>HURR U CANT GET N E THING FOR 500
Just got a new in box p320 Compact for $499 at the Gun Show last week.
Conversion kits are specifically designed to get AROUND the NFA laws.
Besides, if ATF comes a-knockin' because you bought a thing and they decided that suddenly it was illegal... You have a gun. Figure it the fuck out.
