>be issued P220
>mag release is at the bottom of the grip
Interesting, I just did some googling and it looks like the heel release ones were quite early, unless they kept it in production for the Swiss Army. Does it have a stamped slide (can't rell from the photo) and/or a fixed front sight?
You tell me. I'd say it's an original 75 (as its army designation is Pistol75)
Not a bad design it weighs the benefit of loading mags quicker by dumping them to the ground with holding unto oldmags more easily, which may have rounds remaing or can be loaded with carried loose ammunition if needed, as part of the reload process. Reloading should be done behind cover or in cleared areas and the user can pocket them more easily aswell as a visual of remaining rounds from seeing a round at the top and roundcount holes.
Tl;DR Faster loading if not worried about mags vs. holding unto mags more easily
It's user preference, personally I prefer button release vs heel
Didn't say now, sorry for not specifying. Of course I had it since the beginning of officer school, which is already a couple years in the past.
I am in for the WEF, but I'm staying at the Flab HQ in Emmen.
>not listening to the boss' briefing
>not maintaining secrecy/internet discipline
if you were already stationed in the Davos area, you could be suffering a disciplinary case, you know this, right?
That being said, Emmen is pretty far away and you've given no threatening information. Just remember not to post online any pics you might take once deployed. Shit is serious, this year. Godspeed, mate
>Flab - Stinger
yeah, you're gonna have plenty of time on your hands. Unlike us poor infantry fuckers, having to hold checkpoints at -15 degrees for hours at a time. See you there, you lucky bastard!
Heel mag releases are fine. Stop being a bellend.
Congrats OP, you have a real SIG, not the multi colored limited editioned overpriced garbage that fuckwits think are good handguns.
That legendary Sig reputation came from this era of guns, back when sig made a whole 5 models, and were considered the best productions handguns in the world.
I would take that gun over whatever swag faggotry legion scorpion MK25 dogshit they make now, plus all their cringey made in china accesories.
You are a lucky man.
There is nothing wrong with heel releases: just get good with it and it'll barely matter.
Source: I have a Walther P1 and now I without thinking assume the mag release is at the bottom of handguns until I remember to think.
They did that because it's easier to make. Pretty poor design but it comes from a time when they thought six to eight rounds in a handgun was adequate for a duty pistol so it is what it is.
but you really are an idiot, learn to live with it.
Exeter Sigs are just as good as old German Sigs, better in some cases especially the very early ones
fwiw this is my W. German P228. The new Legion P229's are a step above.
Same anon you responded to. My previous EDC used to be an old Sig P230. It had a heel release. Speed reloads for that gun was at one point faster than on my 1911.
Enjoy your Legion Swag. I'm waiting for the limited edition Legion series with more laser engraving and "custom" features.
Remember when Seals demanded 226's because only the best would do? I wonder why they moving to Glock 19's?
Heel release is pretty great. I understand why the push button system is dominant, but improper seating of a magazine is a common malfunction cause. Heel clips literally make magazine seating/accidental releases impossible.
Probably cheaper to manufacture too.
Sometimes a focus on reliability gets lost to a focus on speed.
Fuck your memes (and your mama), my opinions come from being a life long shooter in my 40's. I was buying sigs when they were all made in germany and exeter shit didn't even exist.
Go post your shit on reddit and maybe the mods will consider you a cool guy.
I've owned my P228 since '93. I have been shooting it for over 20 years and I can honestly say it is a Great pistol. I shoot a lot, I have shot the Exeter P229's, I've fondled and dry fired the Legion and can say, free of any WG fanboi prejudice, that the P229 Legion is nicer.
Are you currently in Sion?
That's cool. Hell, I own a few of both as well.
Truth is, I'm sure the Legion stuff is fine, but I just don't have faith in Sig like I used too. The most disappointing guns I've bought in the last few years was a 226 and a 1911.
Neither slide locked back when emptied, and the 226 was having jamming issues. I tend not to quit on guns, and even allow for user/ammo/break-in possibilities, but that 226 wasn't interested in running well. The 1911 I had fixed by a local 1911 expert gunsmith (we just fitted a new slide release).
I ended up trading the 226 on a 220 Match that has been quite good.
Honestly, I just think Sig has lost it's focus. I don't hate them, but I just don't think they are as good anymore.
>tfw no german p228
my p226 isn't enough
>trying to troll somebody by admitting to suck at gun maintenance
>Be in Yuropean military
>Be issued gun with Yuropean style mag release
>Bitch to the internet
To be honest, the sig p220/226 design is really poorly designed. the trigger bar and decocker spring are right outside of the frame and under the grip panels. Besides that, they're really good guns.
