>>

i guess its neat someones making combo guns a gain but im not feeling it

well, maybe it's just that i've carried an M6 on more adventures then i care to count and now there's an option with a real trigger and actual furniture that's got me hyped

i was so let down by the chiappa
>>
>>28528443 I'm picking up one of these tomorrow for 125+tax

Anyone try out a henry survival?

.22LR
16" blued barrel
Synthetic stock
Semiautomatic
35" overall length
Cocking indicator
2.5lbs
Action and barrel fit inside stock for transport
I wanna say 10 round mags? But somewhere I just read 8+1

I've really wanted one of these for a while, a couple months ago on dick's sporting website they were $150, now they're $250...Anyone think thats a deal or could I find something better/cheaper?
>>
>>28528893
saw this at a LGS. Also considering this. But I dont remember how much they're charging

Is that single shot break action?
>>
Are we forgetting the Marlin Guide Gun?
>>
>>28528913
Got one, love it. As long as you get high velocity rounds. Paid $200 for it a few years ago, now it lives in my truck.
>>
>>28528949
Yeah. comes in .22 lr .22 mag and something called 9mm flobert. You shouldn't pay more than 200, but can usually find it for 150-175 on sale.
>>
>>28528965
I love the design , how it fits so compact as well as how it looks when assembled. Truly dope. I'll probably cop one, wish the price didn't jump though...
>>
>>28528913
if you want to shoot it like a plinker its a flimsy feeling pile of crap with an uncomfortable stock

if you want to use it as intended its a nice compact package thats easy to carry everywhere and a last resort gun if you need it
>>
>>28528913
Had one. Sold it.
They're amazingly inaccurate (like, 6 inch groups at 50 yards from a benchrest inaccurate), the sights suck camel dicks, and the fact that it fits inside the stock is kind of useless unless you intend to take it on a boat and need it to float if it falls in the water. For an aircraft survival kit that will probably never get used? It's perfect. For an emergency or backpacking rifle that you intend to take game with? It's fuckng shit. Just buy a TD 10/22, a marlin papoose, or this savage contraption. Trust me, anon. Learn from my mistakes.
>>
>>28528981
That is a bitch, but when you can go from gun in hoodie pocket to fully functioning rifle in under 30 seconds....
>>
>>28528913

the off set fuck huge grip feels funny in hand, the sights are pretty shit and it's one of the least reliable semi-auto .22s i've ever shot for an extended period of time

as far as a fuck around rifle it's worth having if you can pick one up second hand for like $75 but i'd pick just about any other .22lr over it
>>
>>28529002
10/22takedowns faster to reassemble but youve got 2 medium sized pieces instead of 1 self contained unit

>>28528960

do they make a takedown guide gun?

i've had a hard on for the taylors 1892 alaskan for a while, but a .45-70 would be fun too
>>
>>28529090
they used to then rem bought them out and ruined production. many of the niche models were discontinued. they supposedly got their shit back together in 2015. and plan to reintroduce guns.
>>
i'm not much of a surplus collector, but does anyone know if paratrooper arisakas are a thing that are common and can be had for not thousands of dollars and be actually shootable?
>>
>>28529152
any arisaka isnt really shootable
finding ammo is bitch
that said you could get one for under a grand most ww2 bolt action milsurp is available for less than a grand unless its really collectible in perfect condition and all matching
>>
>>28529200
>late war arisakas aren't safe
Fixed it. The rifles are quite strong otherwise.
>>
Saw one of those at my LGS a few weeks ago for around 260 dollars. Passed on it, then picked one up last week for 160 USD. It's a surprisingly nice little gun.
>>
>>28529209
the reason they arent shootable is ammo is almost nonexistant
>>
>>28529200

i'm sure reloading is an option or rechambering if need be

i just never know with jap shit because it seems like half their surplus rifles are some one off weird prototype worth billions of moneys
>>
>>28529209
TFW Arisaka was probsbly the strongest rifle in WW2
>>
>>28529002
>>28529055
that's what i mean, it perfectly carries itself and can fit in your pack, or you could possibly sling it around your shoulder. Idk if they have slings (doesn't look like it in the image) but you could attach one.

Probably rather throw it in my pack though
>>
>>28529234
Okay, makes sense, sorry.
>>
>>28528995
I will consider your advice, thank you friend

its between that or this>>28528893 desu
>>
>>28528949
Single shot, in 22lr, 22 mag, and 17hmr, I really want one. I can paracord my knife sheath in there, put a crappy optic on it, and shoot all day long for almost no money compared to most guns
>>
>>28529234
>>28529240
If you're willing to reload and pay extra up front for new production stuff, Jap ammo isn't as hard to find as it seems. But it's disproportionally priced in relation to A) how well it works and B) just how many rifle cartridges in America can do the exact same thing.

It's kind of sad that 8mm Mauser is only a little easier to find and is pretty much a dead cartridge now.
>>
>>28529003
>>28528989
taking this into consideration as well. I'd probably plink with it occasionally for fun, but I'd store it in a BOB/INCH bag regardless. Just as an extra rifle. For that compact size/weight, it feels worth it to me, plus dat abundant .22lr
>>
>>28529269

chiappa isn't know for quality but luckily it's so simple that not even they could fuck it up

i hear the sights are alright and the trigger is actualy pretty good
>>
>>28529288
if it isnt your only 22lr and an you just want it as a novelty go for it
but if its between the ar7 and a real 22lr as your only rifle buy the other thing
>>
>>28529311
It wouldn't be my only rifle, but it would be my only .22 rifle. At the moment.
I'll definitely be buying another more reliable one, considering the information I've gathered in this thread, and if the habbeding habbens, ill take them both with me

>>
>>28529404

just kidding but you really shouldnt need to adjust sights from the factory except elevation and thats range dependent
