So I finally found a plate carrier that seems to cover the bases of what I'm looking for, problem is it's a Condor. Is this brand shit? They seem to be marketed toward airsofters...
I mean I'm not going to put it to serious use honestly but I'd like it to be durable considering there's reputable brands that offer basic models for $20-40 more. Anyone know of anything offered that's similar to pic related?
i have condor h harness and belt, its fine stand up plenty well to practicing around my land.
some stitching has come loose but so did the stitching on my $300 eagle plate carrier. learn to repair your own gear with nylon threading.
Do you even have plates? If you can't even afford a half decent PC, I wonder how you're going to buy the plates. If you're just getting one for range work or airshit, just get a chest rig or a battle belt
I'm getting plates soon. I need them for work in armed security. I decided to just go with rifle plates instead of kevlar because I feel I'd end up getting rifle plates eventually anyway.
I lurk all the time and have never seen such threads.
Nothing else I can find is simplistic and lightweight like the condor.
>I lurk all the time and have never seen such threads.
There no threads specifically about condor, but it's mentioned all the time.
>Nothing else I can find is simplistic and lightweight like the condor.
You mean "nothing else I can find is cheap like the condor".
I'm a poorfag too, I understand. I'd rather spend money on ammunition.
Flyye is an (asian) airsoft brand, but they make good stuff that's durable.
> Nothing else I can find is simplistic and lightweight like the condor.
Then you're not looking, senpai. If you wanna buy poorfag shit, at least do it knowing that what you're getting is awful and don't pretend it's the best thing you could find.
Mayflower R&C Assault Plate Carrier
I'll quote you this time, I guess.
No, but it's better in literally every conceivable way in terms of build quality at around your budget. It's light, modular, and backed by a company with solid QC.
All that HSLD shit is at the cost of some robustness, even among the top of the crop gear makers (Crye, First Spear, etc), I can only imagine what some awful reproduction tier shit would be like. You want DeltaSEAL shit, you're gonna have to pay DeltaSEAL prices.
what about 5.11 then you cheap bastard.
why do you even care about laser cut molle?
Because I like it. Saves bulk and I'm not likely to mount mags anyway, I'll use a battle belt for that. If I do mount stuff it'll be small and light like medical stuff. It's mostly going to be worn under my uniform. I know its recommended to get something dedicated for concealment but still I prefer something more modular.
I like the 5.11 though, maybe I'll get it if the condor falls apart.
>comes with soft inserts and plates already
Come on man.
commence everyone flipping shit about how lbt is overpriced when they don't actually go to their website
>They save weight.
everyone here is being nice and telling you what to buy. If yourr not going to use the molle, you dont need molle. You might think you are getting "less" becuase a slick has no molle, but youre actually getting more in the sense that you are buying a stronger product that wont tear on a tree branch or having stiching come undone due to its own weight. Plus you are supporting small businesses in the US compared to chincom shit.
Buy a slick or get the fuck out
>Buy a LBT slick or get the fuck out
but anon, $170 is way too fucking muc for a piece of fabric and opee needs instant gratification and reassurance to get a condom carrier for $50.
Seriously, there's no point of these threads because ops are too fucking dumb for their own good half the time and don't take advice.
London Bridge Trading 6094 Slick
Should cover pretty much any need you may have for a plate carrier. It's light and LBT makes shit that you can beat the fuck out of.
Pretty sure it even comes in Multicam and/or AOR1/2 for any bearded door kicking missions you may encounter.
First Fucking Spear then. ~$80
niggas spending $25 on a Avenged Sevenfold shirt at Hottopic that was made by child laborers. wont spend $80 on tough as balls gear made in the heartland of the USA by one of the best gear manufacturers out there.
>inb4 only 1 plate
already have the other
I bought a similar carrier from condor about a year and a half ago figuring it'll eventually turn into a secondary carrier the the next gun into the fight. Only obvious difference from the one pictured is that mine has stitched molle and is in a different coloration.
After a year of medium/light intensity use it shows no signs of loosening or tearing at any stitching point. When it arrived, I had to do a little bit of trimming and burning the ends of nylon threads but that is a non-issue.
It's currently got 7 magazines, a camelbak pouch, an IFAK, and two plates in it, The plates were the latest addition and they were the latest addition and they were about 6 months ago. Anyhow, it's bearing the weight well by all accounts and dissipates heat efficiently because of the mesh that's body-side.
There are downsides to it though:
The first being that it does not come with a cumberbund built in, so no armor inserts on the sides and less mounting area for gear.
The second being that I feel kind of like a bonehead after doubling the carrier's cost after adding pouches and tripling that after springing for high quality plates.
It inspires confidence so far, and given that its main purpose is to contain low velocity spalling which escapes the plate's coating and the fact that it's pretty hard to fuck up clothing and stitiching beyond the point that a novice can repair it I don't regret the decision and would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind feeling like the guy who bought a S&W M&P15 sport then put on an $800 aimpoint and a $600 magnifier on the $500 rifle.
Which is why you gave me a (You)? Its still more expensive than most of the shit here people are recommending.
Is this a gear thread?
What do you guys think of the 10 mag bag from US grunt gear? Is there any way to mount it to the back of a plate carrier
t. person who is wondering about the max amount of mags a person could carry
people here are recommending the cheapest thing possible without scarificing quality. The fact that you payed even more than our cheaper alternatives is even more hilarious.
>"Look guys, I have a blackhawk! Crye a shit, LBT a shit, Ferro a shit, First Spear a shit. Im so fancy!"
They're Level 4 chest plates, and no one makes L4/ESAPI shoulder plates.
>thinking budget ceramics make him Mr. Moneybags
They're $500 per plate for the chest and another $300 per plate for the shoulders, how is this budget?
Its more expensive than the MayFlower APC people are shilling for
>Crye a shit
Couldn't afford a $1800 or whatever those kikes want for their cutaway carrier.
>I need them for work in armed security.
Like fuck you do. Just get a III or IIIA ballistic vest and a trauma plate. I did armed security for eight years and the only guy I ever saw who wore a carrier was too fat for a normal vest. Even then he still wore his carrier under his uniform shirt.
>dosnt have soft armor
>is pointlessly gigantic
>weighs a ton
how is it fuckhuge for a carrier which can accept soft armor?
>>dosnt have soft armor
Doesn't come with it. Although I have some level 3A inserts lying around that should fit.
>>weighs a ton
3.5lbs anon. Go show me this 1lbs cutaway carrier than can accept soft armor.
>carrier dosnt waste space
>small as possible
>near as light as possible
>expand with hsgi side plate pouches for $60
>allready has mag pouches and an admin
>will last forever
You've actually taken being a poorfag to the next fucking level and managed to overpay for something that is worse than something cheaper AND better that you could have had. You can't possibly be this fucking retarded.
You literally paid more money for an objectively shittier plate carrier.
Thanks for the input. I'll take into account what everyone else said too, I understand it's not going to be the best but I don't see any issue seeing as I'm only going to mount mags and heavy stuff to my belt if I'm using it for training instead if duty. If I end up having a shitty experience with it I'll let you guys know how right you were in a gq thread. Expect a review several years from now when its benefits have already exceeded its cost.
>not a cutaway
>doesnt accept soft armor
I feel bad for you, are you even trying? Heres your (You), not like you deserve it though.
>but youre not using soft armor.
I'm not planning on using the plates either anytime soon, I still have them though. Stay jelly of my HASPs
This company wants us to be tacticool. I would rather wear them under my uniform so people don't see where NOT to shoot. I plan on getting it in tan but if they make me wear it over I'll just pick up a black one.
Reason for plates being I'm going to get them anyway for prepping purposes, why spend more on pistol armor and have 2 separate things? We don't do a lot of walking, mostly vehicle patrols and *cough* slacking off *cough* so weight isn't too much of an issue.
>why spend more on pistol armor and have 2 separate things
Blackhawkfag here, modularity is nice so you can switch stuff around depending on the situation. Here in Chicago my primary threat is niggers who mostly only have handguns, secondary would be cops hence the capability to add plates. You dont have to have two separate carriers to do this.
Because if its sewn in Vietnam the nylon is magically weaker than if its sewn in the US? Its literally the exact same vest, with a made in the USA option so it can be sold to gov't customers who require that.
>"You dont have to have two separate carriers to do this"
yeah, its called a chestrig. That is modularity. Not taking off your shit, situating plates into plate bags, adjusting for fit, then putting it back on.
youre a shit
>This company wants us to be tacticool.
Bullshit. That's the exact opposite of what a security company wants because it'll be used against them in court if one of their employees shoot somebody. That's why security company uniforms tend to emulate LEO uniforms.
This looks good enough? It's custom made for affordable price, not like i can get anything more expensive than condor here in slavland.
>adjusting for fit
What shitty plate carrier do you have that you have to adjust it every time you remove the plates?
>removing plates from pouches is so hard
>it takes all of 1 minute
>implying LEOs dont try to look tacticool
Are these heavy enough, plate carriers, to offer a kind of resistance training?
enjoy having your gear bounce all over the place and increasing the LOP on your rifle even more by having doubled up shoulder straps
No I didn't, I was looking for other similar options like >>28488661 that was the point of the thread otherwise I'd just get it.
I'll check out some reviews on that, thx. There was another one similar to it I forgot..
Nice. I have bad experience with 5.11 though, their pants ripped the first time I fell and scraped them. I hear their boots are shit too and fall apart.
A CIA cosplay brand has to be better than an airshit brand though right?
Their nylon packs and vests are their speciality, it's the only shit they make that justifies the price tag. All the other crap that they "make" is just re-branded junk they can sell to fill out their product line.
I have had my rush 72 pack for 4 years now. It has been through all kinds of hell and others than all the stains it is in perfect shape. No torn stitching or tears that I can find.
>MPD isnt a federal agency
cool story bro
>i'm too retarded to state my budget
>plz /k/ waste your time helping me find gear i'll never buy
For the large majority of security firms absolutely, and since OP hasn't stated what he'll actually be doing he may just be getting over excited about the job. Although, my firm actually goes the opposite and prefers high profile, command presence at certain sites.
I feel like all he needs, if anything, is Survival Armor. I got mine for around $600 at the same supply depot local LE departments get issued from, they measure there and have them custom ordered.
>pic related, duty loadout for grows
I have a lot of extra gear from my time in the marines. Just need a PC and plates. There are a lot of websites that I can find with google. I just want to know which sites /k/ uses regularly.
You'll not that it says that it operates as a local police department. the LEO tree goes local, county, state, fed (with random exceptions like tribal). MPD is a local police force, which is why the vest says "police".
Op, you are retarded. Cuts in the fabric aren't drastically saving weight. If you want a decent carrier with that stuff, first Spear STT. the banshee, Mayflower apc, two other good options. On the slick side of the house, pig brig is super modular slick system, lbt 6094 slick, first Spear slick
Heres a tip for you guys. I bought a Mayflower APC with 1 plate (I don't know why just 1) off an airsoft buying\selling page on Facebook for $45 shipped. Those kids have no idea what the stuff is worth. There's a treasure trove of tacticool stuff on those pages.
That's like asking where's the best place to buy a car, and what make and model is best, without telling your budget.
Can you list a few factors to narrow it down?
>one or multiple firearms
>high or low profile
>guise its totally not a federal agency
>even though it was created by an act of congress
you're grasping at straws anon
>I need two pistols so I can live out my Laura Croft fantasies in a pot field
>Under the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, whenever the President of the United States determines that special conditions of an emergency nature exist which require the use of the Metropolitan Police force for Federal purposes, he may direct the Mayor to provide him, and the Mayor shall provide, such services of the Metropolitan Police force for up to 48 hours. During longer periods of time, the President must provide to Congress in writing his reasons for continuing control of the MPD. This control can be extended at any time beyond 30 days if either the emergency continues or if Congress passes a law ordering it.
no problem faggot
I'm a part time collector and dealer in this sort of thing. It was the genuine article. I thought it would be a counterfeit, but even if it was no one else would really know. I would have still been able to pass it off as legit.
>Looking for a lite weight,
>Id like to keep PC and plates under 300 if I can
you know the answer anon, of course he didnt. he thinks he got $700 worth of gear for $45 because the airshit community cant into resale
Honestly you might want to try a slick plate carrier with a separate chest rig you could just throw over it. I have a US Palm Defender slick and just throw HSP D3 over it. I also use a gcode riggers belt with a D3 mag carrier so I have 1 ar mag and 2 pistol mags on my belt along with my sidearm.
>being this much of an assblasted negro.
Is it really impossible to believe I got a good deal off some 15 YO kid who didn't know what he was selling.
I sold the plate for $30 so it wasn't like I sold it at full price. It wasn't like I raped them or anything.
>its impossible that a 15 year old sold me a bunch of counterfeit shit as the genuine article on a airshit website
>Chinese airshit manufacturers care about American trade mark law
>Thats why airshit guns dont have roll stamps
There are over a dozen groups on Facebook exclusively about Crye Airsoft
> Mayflower APC - $220
> Crye Plate carrier- $560
These people will buy full Crye gear. Had to toe, including patches.
ive been wondering for awhile but maybe i'm just going full retard and i cant find an immediate instant answer online anyone know what PC Ziga is wearing here?
I have a 4 mag pouch on my belt.
If I need more than 150 rounds without being able to replenish my pouches, what I actually need is a fire team.
I'm not in the Marines, I'm just a dude with a rifle.
Also chest rigs suck.
fucking embed is aids time i was asking about is 1:27
>I'm just a dude with a rifle.
All the more reason to have a shitload of ammo at hand, because you won't have anyone else to offer suppressing fire while you maneuver. Volume of fire is how you stand a chance against more than one trained attacker.
Not him but if I even think I have to shoot that much my goal is going to be retreat. My bug out kit is 3 mags on my belt, 1 in the gun, and 4-6 in my pack. Obviously if I shot 4 mags I'll be behind cover and able to access my pack.
>Obviously if I shot 4 mags I'll be behind cover
The problem is you don't know this. You may well be running around like a fag, especially if you have multiple shooters advancing (where just sitting behind cover is a great way to get flanked and killed). Of course, it could just as easily work out in a way that neither of us can predict.
Realistically, it's unlikely that specific mag placement is going to determine the outcome of the firefight, so it comes down to personal preference and comfort.
Then maybe I'll put a couple extra on my pc because its not slick like you morans keep recommending.
Plus they're easily accessible from my pack, I can get to them with one strap hanging off my shoulder. I actually train around this set-up with a full BOB.
6+1 30rnd mags are generally the standard. A unit may permit individuals to carry less or an individual may choose to carry more but 6+1 is the general guideline. This makes for a total of 210 rounds.
I've bought 2 commando sweaters from them and they were both trash quality.
I have a couple of admin pouches that have worked so far for camping. Can't vouch for anything else though.
Dude, if you're taking fire from two+ gunmen well trained enough that you can't elminate them in 150 rounds, another couple mags isn't going to help you.
Even Rambo had to use a belt fed.
>operates from a closed bolt position
How fucking pointless. Is the secret that all these stupid semiauto MGs can be made open bolt and full auto easy incase of habbenan?
>The problem is you don't know this
This guy is correct about this.
Whatever you guys say, this right here is correct. You don't know if you will have access to anything but what is fucking attached to you.
paraclete spec ops hard plate carrier. it's gonna run aroun 850, but if you order it from them at the same time as your order your plates, you can probably get rig and plates for all under a grand.
Phantom is much better quality.
If you are doing alot of running its fine not having side plates.... but if you want better protection you need them. they do now restrict mobility as much as people think.
>practicing for a fire fight against multiple attackers where you have to run and gun like a CoD tard
If that happens, you're already fucked. Instead of rucking 40 mags how about make some friends?
some "muh shtf" escape from new york bullshit goes a lot better when you and your 5 drinking buddies are armed 1/5th as well as the n33t with the fully cryptex woodland and Delrue fagtical AR and 500 rounds of ammo.
the answer to "how do I fight 4 guys" is have 10 guys and know how to use small unit tactics. The only other answer is conflict avoidance and running the fuck away.
the receiver plates of something like an 2 Browning have a bolt stop and it obviously uses a closed bolt Semi auto bolt carrier, but if you were the guy that built and had the FA bolt and trigger mechanism from the chopped parts kit...
so the short answer is it'd be a pain in the ass Mr. ATFman
Well this is now basically the gear queer thread so; I want a fighting knife to put on my plate carrier. I'm a poorfag so budget is $50-60ish. What would you guys recommend, ka-bar?
Also, this might cause an argument but where should I mount it? I was thinking Venom Snake style and putting it sideways on my back but I've heard a lot of people say this is a bad idea.
>What would you guys recommend, ka-bar?
I reccomend saving up your money instead of buying stupid shit.
But if you can't help it, just get a good belt, kydex sheath and something decent like a benchmade or spyderco
>get attacked by a couple of guys
"escape from new york, rambo, rambo 2, and rambo 16:bloodier first" were just movies
>get attacked by a couple of guys
>in your dying moments you wonder: should I have packed another 10000 rounds of banned green tip 5.56, cucktec woodland in an urban setting, and a $4000 LarRube fagtical AR shitteen or have made a few friends who owned a rifle, chest rig, and 200 rounds in mags apiece
>naw, I definitely needed more expensive gear, more bulletz, and a more boutique AR. Those would have kept me from being flanked and operated upon ;_;
Condor is OK for pouches and such. I used to airshit, and now the pouches that carried my airshit AK mags carry my hasguns AK mags with no fuss.
>To be fair I am switching to HSGI mag pouches for rapid pace, minimal resistance.
For a plate carrier... Ehh... I would get something higher end just for security.
How's it over engineered? Looks pretty minimalist.
Their new strongarm is cheaper and awesome.
OP here, decided to look at better stuff. Yesterday when I posted this the condor rig looked cooler but it looks like crap to me now for some reason.
How long does it usually take you to get a rig/carrier adjusted when you get it?
I've been dicking around with my first chest rig for a couple days now but I can't seem to find adjustments I am happy with.
Forever- The struggle is real.
Unless it's it a shitty rig and just plain uncomfortable, just adjust it to the point of being usable and deal with it.
by the time next season comes around you'll find it sitting funny again.
Does anyone else have trouble with weaver rail accessories being off center that are purchased online. I purchased a sight similar to pic related, as well as 2 carry handle sights, and all seem to be off ~ 1-2 mm
>Tldr, how to make sure a weaver item is going to be quality/ centered. Do cheap alternatives exist, or are they all shit?
Whoops, is pic related good do you think?(actually centered?)
So here's the thing about Condor. Not all products are created equal. If you get a jacket or a pouch from them you'll be alright. Those items are usually pretty decent for what you pay. I would highly recommend avoiding anything from them that is intended to carry load. Chest rigs, plate carriers, battle belts, all these. The MOLLE tends to start sagging after a while and the non Multicam fabric tends to be pretty shit tier. I got one of their modular chest rigs and the first time I went to put it on one of the snaps that connected the bib to the rest of the rig broke. The MOLLE on it stretched out, the buckles were complete shit, and it was sewn out of spec in the hudration carrier. I went and got a TAG chest rig and it's so much better.
I'm liking the 5.11, main thing is I was to make sure it doesn't have the cummerbund sides since its hot as shit in AZ. The less hear retention the better. I've also seen some ones with skeletal sides, where its just 3 rows of molle instead of a cummerbund.
That's what I'm thinking the issue will be, buckles breaking seems to be a common issue in their reviews. Also cheaper material can get torn up if it snags on brush or something. Still seems fine for light use under clothing though.
Mayflower guy again, I think I finally found you a sure winner.
> $199.99 for your $200 budget
I'm gonna keep coming back until we get this shit done, I'm too far in now.
Too late, already bought the el cheapo condor. Got it shipped for only $50. That ones too complex, and overly so for something I'm just going to wear under clothing.
If the condor is shit oh well it was cheap, I'll just use it for airshit when I get back into it then get something better. I'm thinking if even that's too bulky for under clothing I'll have to get both a concealable and over-clothing one. I know, trying to combine roles usually = something that sucks at both roles.
