Knife Thread. Last one archived. This is my Frontier Valley by Battle Horse Knives, great EDC blade and my first midtech.
Here's my edc - LT Wright Next Gen.
Both knifemakers used to be part of Blind Horse Knives, before they split and formed Battle Horse and LTWK.
This is the blade that won me best of show. I plan on making a Makarov inspired knife tutorial if anyone is interested in following along?
Great choice anon. That was going to be my choice until I found the Frontier Valley for $50 less while having more edge and options than LT's Patriot. The scalloped handles are nice though.
also have the coyote - similar handle to yours, but a more narrow/longer blade. I live in EU though, so the prices are through the roof.
Sorry to trigger you, nigel. But you and your fog breather ilk can fuck right off back to faggy old london town.
Man, I remember that thread... I'm still pissed we never got to see the makarov knife...
How would you guys recommend cleaning/polishing the interior springs of a slipjoint? I have a pretty old Imperial Frontier series knife that could use a little TLC, and the only thing left is the inside
Before I buy a Benchmade Griptilian, which I'm about to, and have had my eyes on for a long time, anyone get any other recommendations? My old knife I'm replacing is a Sog Flash II, this thing is about the same dimensions, although obviously much higher quality
Just got a BK14 eskabar. Love it, it's the perfect little knife. Sharp as fuck too. However there is one thing that pisses me off about it:
>must buy handle scales separately
>must buy new sheath because the dulling one it comes with its garbage
After all that it's approaching $100 which is a lot for a small knife like that. I think it'll be worth it in the end tho
For the price, yes. Most of Condor's stuff is pretty good.
I was considering a Crotalus when I was looking for a ~5" blade, but I ended up going with an Ontario TFI instead. The TGI is one of the few crowbar blades with a taper so I figured I'd check it out, it seems pretty nice so far but I haven't really gotten to use it.
You should also look at the Becker crewman and all of the mini Beckers, which I think are 14, 15, and 16.
I'm really just looking for a good mid-long sized blade that won't break the bank. I already have a mora black for smaller things. What would you recommend in the sub $100 range?
What is the largest knife on the market? I'm an avid hiker/outdoors person, and I like to dress to match. I know they aren't practical, but they just look so fucking cool.
pic related is a "Catachan Fang" used by the Catachan Jungle Fighters in the Warhammer 40,000 Universe. Measuring some 20 inches of steel not including the handle.
I know this may seem silly, but I want one. Is there anywhere I can get a knife similar to this? Kinda the same shape too, so don't suggest a Kukri or Machete, they aren't a Catachan Fang.
Then pretty much anything will do. Look through the catalogs of Kabar, Ontario, CS, ESEE, and Condor and see if anything grabs your attention.
If you can't make up your mind and want to hold off on a major purchase then you could get something from Ontario's SP series to tide you over, or maybe a Condor bushlore or some such thing.
Alright fuckers I was considering purchasing pic related a CRKT Thunderstrike. Any of you guys have it? What would be your review?
In a sheath with a clip. Some people also clip folding knives into their waistbands, which I've never understood.
What exactly are you looking for in a knife?
Do you plan to EDC it or just fuck around with it in your spare time?
There's nothing that big unless you get it custom made.
Here's a suggestion anyway
Cold Steel 1917 Frontier Bowie.
Blade Length: 12 1/4"
Fit and finish has been known to be poor on this particular knife. Still works though.
Ontario's falcon and RAT3 would probably work for you, but they're both about $65. If you need something smaller then there's the Folts minimalist stuff and the SPEW, both of which I think are by CRKT. Also, there are some fairly small Beckers, I think # 13-15 or so.
Japanese film called the world of kanako, incredible film, shot and edited very well, great new Asian extreme.
Are we talking specifically EDC/utility knives or can we post any knives? Don't have my camera handy, so just googled a pic of my Bali here. To any Bali flippers out there: if you ever get an opportunity to pick up a Rep, make sure you do, 'tis a nice knife.
I actually just found this the other day in a drawer.
Don't really know anything about it other than that it needs to be sharpened.
Blade shape and size in relationship to the handle, as well as the fake golden accents on the handle almost make me think it's a Buck Folder of some kind. I'm not an expert in folders, at least not your average folders, I'm more of a balisong guy myself. Interesting way to find a knife though. No hallmarks/trademarks of any kind on the knife?
Don't know how I didn't see the Schrade at the bottom on the other side.
Also, I'm pretty sure it's brass.
Wondering if any knife bros know where I could get my hands on a really well made Seax Knife.
Yup, it's brass. My bad. Not sure what model it is though, a quick skim of Google Images found one very similar, and a skim of some retail sites had some other Schrade knives, but nothing like this. At least now you have something to go on.
Thanks anon, Now I just need too find one too buy.
Mcustas. Smallest one for sale, if someone wants it Ill post it on reddit knife swap.
Customized Spydies. The PM2 is pretty much the best edc knife designed.
Last spydies and a customized Kwaiken. The barong is dangerous to close because its too smooth and scary sharp. My only knife Im afraid of.
And the rest, these are all for sale for the right offer, ask and Ill post on knife swap.
I've checked out all of ka bars stuff, ontarios, esee and more and so far it looks like cold steel is in my range. Specifically the Pendleton mini hunter with a Kraton handle. Vg-1 stainless steel.
I didn't know Schrade made Buck ripoffs. I've always considered Schrade a low end company.
I've never handled a Frontier Bowie but never heard anything but universal praise about them before this thread.
For the price, I would like to see the blade made from O-1 rather than 1055.
Damn, I'm late to the party. Oh well, here's my EDC.
