Anyone else do something silly with there ak wood?
Okay, I was skeptical, but now I like it. What brand did you use? Any sort of stains over the top, or just shellac? I want to do the same thing with my Rhino grip, but in a blood red. Advice?
Mine has a driveshaft. Literally will never break.
Rhino owner here.
The recoil goes straight back into the arm in line with your bones, rather than having a bunch of flip. The result is that felt recoil lowers pretty dramatically. Shooting .38 feels so, so soft, and .357 is a lot easier to handle.
Also it looks cool as shit, so it gets a price tag to match.
No, I don't like it because it's an SOHC v-twin with not enough power to match the displacement.
Yamaha also makes the FZ-09, it has less displacement but more power, and it weighs less. Bolt is a poorfag Harley point blank. It has none of the torque to make it a cruiser and it has none of the horsepower to make it a "street bike" It's a piece of shit because Yamaha fucked up and i feel bad for the sucker that bought it.
I know it's a MT-07 with some retro shit but I still want the xsr700, Yamaha please
The most I've done with my ak's wood is clean it up with out damaging the trench art and refinishing it. Now in general the craziest thing i did with wood is refinishing the extra beat to shit sks i got to bubba around with in an ebony stain but damn do chink stocks hate stain so it didn't turn out very well.
Actually no it's not, neon yellow and sometimes orange is. Ex. Look at those police shotguns made exclusively for those gay ass taser rounds and those training shotguns sold on buds.
I WANTEd to do a green stain w/high gloss poly for a finish on my Romy G kit, but wound up being a pussy and just using BLO on a sanded furniture kit. . . . I regret not having an ak that was "Green for the money & Gold for the honeys"
Anyone have a blue laminate AK pic? Or any kind of laminate?
Fuck that, I'm going to do a lime green nitro finish like an electric guitar. I have the sprayer and the lacquer already. Sure my furniture isnt flame maple but it will still look cool.
i almost want to find a spare stock for my m44 to refinish with some OD-ish green just for something a little different. i don't really want to do it on the original stock which i kept in the lightly dinged up condition it was in when i got it years ago.
TF141 for life
I like you a lot. Sorry to steal your highlight, it means a lot that someone actually liked my rifle.
I'm not super lonely, I just admire that you've been consistent. I'll dump the rest of my reds.
Pics were taken before a repaint, red dot, and muzzle brake.
Here's a pre-conversion. As it turns out groundhogs can't see color, deer can't see reds or greens, and coyotes see only yellows and blues. Red is realistically a great choice for non-humans.
Not the bone guy, but i've been looking it up too
From what I can tell you'll only get so pale with the type of wood your stock is, but you can get pretty far.
i took a bucket, dumped a jug of chlorox in it, and soaked the furniture until it was white
i had to leave the lower handguard in longer because it was a much darker wood the other pieces.. it started as a bulgarian ak74 set from apex for reference.
you can bleach the wood to make it lighter..
This is the thing i watched a bit.. gives you a nice step by step. I used %75 of what he did.. give or take. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV6dXM90Q0I
Naw, red makes da zoggin thing shoot faster, ya git!
I think it would look cool! Would work well in the woods.
m8 the only thing on that drivetrain that will ever break is the engine because they were first gen V4s and Honda couldn't sort out the growing pains. Unless i take the jaws of life to it it'll be just fine.
Why does nobody make reproduction bakelite mags?
Orange polymer plus bakelite mags are the sex
Tried to Russian red mine with some min wax stain called sangria, it turned out a little meh. Not too worried about it though.
So fucking cold i tried to start my bike an hour ago and it backfired so loud i went deaf in my ear.
Neighbors started riding around slowly look around like they always do when it (frequently) backfires.
Agreed. It looks a tad better in person, and my friends all really like it, but I wasn't satisfied with it at all. I'll probably end up getting a new set of furniture that's not made of the shit wood like what came with it, and stain it a more traditional brown color.
I stained mine with reddish brown and then hit it with like 5 coats of BLO.
Would also like to know this.
You used to be able to use brown stain and then scarlet rit dye for it, but rit changed their formula, and now when you run the acetone through it to mix into your finish, it turns an ugly washed out blue color.
I refinished this Balkan furniture and threw it on my saiga. I thought it turned out nice.
Terrible advice, staining your shit red will not achieve that orangey/red warm glow of Russian shellac. Only shellac will give you that look.
>it came out pretty good
Doubt it, never seen good results from stain when trying to get that Russian red look. It always just ends up looking like exactly what it it is, wood stained red.
>wait I think ive seen this shit on leddit
>going to reddit
