In what role?

>>22194499

Ceradyne ESAPI's, and it's a 2L storm bladder. I love the JPC, coming from the APC and Eagle PC before that. Again it's primary purpose is to be as light weight and low profile as possible, as a result long term durability and extended use comfort take a reasonable hit. If you plan to be humping armor for days on end, there are probably more suitable options. For a grab and go/immediate response type rig, it fits my needs well.
>>
>>22194610
Thanks for the info. What in particular is uncomfortable after extended use? The shoulder pads did look a bit skimpy to me, but couldn't they be replaced with HSGI shoulder pads or something?
>>
>>22194691

Yeah, you'll see most guys in the field wearing additional shoulder pads of various type. Since I'm a scrawny manlet it's always been a challenge for me getting proper shoulder-weld with armor. The JPC shoulder straps from what I've seen are the flattest, most low profile of any PC out there. Allowing me to shoulder and fire the weapon as I naturally would without interfering.

Save photographs as JPG. The file size will be much smaller and you probably won't have to shrink it to get under 4chan's size limit.

Curved, you can also get creative with padding the plate. There are also methods of binding your mamaries, I think HEMA has some guides on it.

alternatively you could wait for these to hit the market.

I already have a bandolier of theirs for my 74 and it's just excellent, so I got a full chest rig for my AR. The tuck tab system they use is really top-notch. IMO, it's worth the wait. But that's just me.
Supposedly they're coming out with some minor revisions to make production faster.
>>
>>22199048
Right, I understand that. Actively being able to use your equipment is a must. just reading the manual on how to use it in an emergency I know won't cut it for me.
>>
>>22199164
i honestly think the cert is a must because as soon as i got the baofeng i looked up the local repeaters and emergency freqs, monitored them for a couple of hours, and i didn't hear jack shit. the only freq that was broadcasting at all was the weather service. without my cert i can't broadcast a radio check on the ems stations so who the fuck knows if i'm even in range to use them if SHTF. y'na'sayian?
>>
>>22199157
Ya saw the video on their revision, honestly not sure I like them. Usually all I want on my chest rig is space for mags, cleaning kit, flashlight, and maybe a pistol mag. So their chest rigs seem perfect, stuck between one of theirs and a Haley Strategic rig.

Their Mk III revisions seem a little iffy to me too, though it should cut down on lead times.

That's kinda why I grabbed a Mk II while I still could.

You looking at the Swamp Fox or the Minuteman rigs? The SF seems right up your alley.
Heard nothing but good things about the Haley rig too. Doesn't seem like you can make a bad decision, at least.

Its for wires if i remember correctly
Nomex ACUs are a cool concept, and they're comfy, the only downside is that the cargo pockets are too thin to hold much more than a notebook/some pens
>>
>>22199317
Ya I was thinking Swamp Fox, the split front I think might help with Texas heat, BUT I'm not sure how the spread out mags would feel. Either seems like a nice thing though.

>>22198976
It's not the FCC you have to worry about. You get in 2m/70cm without a callsign and they'll ignore you. You could be screaming and they'll ignore it.

Ham is also a meh, it is very codified. GMRS may be a better route.
>>
>>22199239

Did you set the proper PL tones, step, ect? Also, just turning to the local freq may not get you anything. Most LEA have gone to P25 and your local repeater may be private.

I know my local freq, but the "rubber duck" antenna doesn't put off enough power for me to activate it. Same with local comms for EMS, LEA, and DPW. The antenna doesn't have the reach. I'm shooting for an NA-771.
>>
>>22199413
Excuse my ignorance but is there a ham radio that can also do FRS/GMRS bands? It seems like being able to communicate with the more common radios on the market would be good post-SHTF

In the simple, no.

GMRS/FRS are Part 95, radios like the Baofeng are Part 90. Any radio you pick-up in the US will be locked via firmware, because of FCC regulations to lockout programming by the individual. You pick-up a radio via international sales there is no firmware lock.

The issue is a radio the Baofeng is putting off 4+ watts, which for GMRS isn't overly detrimental, but FRS can't hand it. FRS has a max of .5watts.

See with an Baofeng that isn't locked, you can program via the keypad or CHRIP. So you put in GMRS, FRS, MURS, ect... anything in 144/440 (2m/70cm) but under FCC compliance you're technically only suppose to use it for Ham.

it took 12 steel core ap 5.56x45mm +P+ with 63 grain and a muzzle velocity of 2,970f/s at less than 25 feet to penetrate that plate.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J7R5bEvjOwM

think your bare body can survive 12 shots to the center of mass?

Better yet here's the ballistic characteristic of .270win SP at 150 grain.
>3,200 ft/s
>2,955 ft·lbf

If the fucking E-SAPI can withstand 12 of those 'worthless rounds' at 25 feet with 1,238 ft·lbf (which is less than half of the .270win sp) what can you say about .270win sp? If that is you have the accuracy to hit with your shot before the dude with the 25 pound vest don't flank your fat lardass with his semi auto.

tl;dr: please research armor before sprouting stupid shit like that ever again.
>>
>>22199576

This is an issue with Bao chinkshit radios. Higher quality brands operate FRS just fine.
>>
>>22199536
no trip anymore?
>>
>>22199465

Now this doesn't mean you can "monitor" this other frequencies. It's a bit complicated to get setup and understand. Things like frequency step, PL tones (CTCSS), ect...

See on a radio like the Baofeng, you can go in and set you PL tone, as to where something like a Motorola the sub-channel is the PL tone.

I linked a pdf cheat sheet of a match of between FRS channels and the freqs and PL tones you have to set.

>>
>>22199614

Sorry, no. Baofeng handle FRS just fine, but with any radio that has an output over .5watt using FRS freqs, you're a fucking beacon.

You're also violating Part 65 regulations by using a non-FRS radio on those freqs.
