What does eating raw/candy gear do again? If I have a decent artifact ring made out of candy, should I eat it? Or wait until I can find some way to upgrade it to a non-edible material?
>>
>>17175128
If it increases an attribute, it will train that attribute and possibly give you a point. If it maintains an attribute, you might get a boost to exp gained for that attribute that lasts for a number of turns.

The gains are not substantial enough to sacrifice your artifacts or deliberately turn equipment into candy for, but if it already was raw in the first place eat away.
>>
>>17175132
Where can I find a whistle?

I'm level 65 and now desperately investing into all shops I come across hoping it will show up somewhere.
>>
>>17175341
General vendor, but using preaching/ensemble/an instrument wake up too, and without risk of getting the NPC angry.
>>
>>17175341
You could try the puppy cave, since it generates large amounts of miscellaneous items. It's where I got mine.
>>
Is there a point of investing more than 100 into magic shops (if so, is there a cutting off point for efficiency)?

Do potential potions and other good stuff start noticeably showing up more often?

I finally finished this thing. After testing it in-game the back and side looked wonky as fuck, so I redrew it again. Now comes step 2 of the master plan. What kind of hair/eyes/ears/clothes you want lads?
>>
>>17175525
I don't see a difference between 100+ and 250+.
Then again, maybe it's shifting percentage 0,001 per 0,001, so thousands ranks may be needed to see reliable results.

>>17175527

>>
>>17175527

>>
>>17175525
I notice more items total stocked, and the stacks of wonder and gain material scrolls are a little bigger
Since there's more items I'd guess it increases the odds of potential potions slightly
>>
So, I've never spent AP before and I'm sitting on 530 right now. What should my priorities be for spending it on?
>>
>>17175698

Speed
>>
>>17175703
Alright. My speed is only like... 159 with a blessed body potion. I hear he can only increase speed up to a point?

Should I dump ALL my AP until 800 or save it and try and get that speed through training and speed uppers?

Also, what was the item that lets you see speed potential so I don't start wasting them?
>>
>>17175714

You can go up to 500 speed before act 2 is complete, then when you reach lost irva you can go to 800. That's what made me finally go do act 2. I didn't do this at first because I didn't think of it, but I'd say save all your speed uppers until after you get 800 speed since it's basically a free ride up to 800. I don't know of such an item but it sounds handy. It will take several thousand AP to reach even 500 so there's no rush to go spending it all.
>>
Any anons know what races have natural weaknesses besides undead and fire?
And do any anons know the formula for how magic device scales damage and debuff/buff turn length?
>>
>>17175728
Thanks.

Same thing for pets, pump speed?
Are any of the AP abilities/feats worth a shit?

Finally, AP becomes harder to get as you get more of it? Doesn't this mean there is diminising returns sooner or later to the point you "stop" getting AP entirely?
>>
>>17175743
Yeah, speed all the way.
Barrier is basically a second health bar, other feats are up to you.

Not really harder, you just need to hunt stronger (with higher INI) monsters. Void and awakened dungeons are perfect for this.
>>
>>17175730
Your question is hard to answer because of the level based bonuses and individual monsters of a race having differing resists. I was going to say Yith have a weakness to nerve as a rule for example, but then when checking found a lot are actually highly resistant to it. Even monsters you'd expect would be weak to a certain element often turn out to be just not resistant to it.

Sooner or later everything becomes superbly resistant to everything, so you have to overpower it by sheer spellpower and debuffs.
>>
>>17175527
Hair like sadako, a plain dress, eyes are irrelevant since you won't be able to see them

These things are made in gimp, right? May look into doing some myself assuming drawing ability carries over to tiny images like this
>>
>>17175796
Ah. Guess it is easier to just hit harder and apply multiplying agents like wet and gasoline to try and crank up the damage rather than exploit weaknesses. Thanks anon.

Still curious though if there is anywhere I can look at the code to try and decipher the magic device formula without a decompiler.

Yeah, I use gimp. You can't draw freely since you only have limited pixels to work with, but some understanding of e.g. lighting, anatomy will still show. Just open up an existing PCC from your folder, configure a grid with 32x48 rectangles, and go nuts. You can layer and build on earlier work endlessly and make whole new sprites by just tweaking old ones a bit. So I have all that shit in one giant file, with bodies, parts and everything. The game makes it so easy to test stuff on the fly too. It's great fun.
>>

>>
>>17176008
I just walk out of the zone and the quest completes.
>>
>>17176104

It depends on the power of the spell you're casting, the resistances on your pet, and I think your pet's control magic skill. In other words, as a general guess I'd say a level 2000 ice ball spell will take around lvl 2000 control magic to not fuck shit up.
>>
>>17176104
If (player's control magic) * 5 + (ally's control magic) is larger than the damage the spell would do after resists, then it's completely dodged. Otherwise you get a random (but fairly big, even with low control magic) damage reduction.

Is there any point to leveling spells like

Web
Summon monster
Teleport
Short Teleport

After it gets to 100% success?
>>
>>17176197

Summon monster summons higher level monsters as the spell gets stronger, which is actually kind of a pain in the ass if you're trying to get lower level creatures.
>>
>>17176008
You have to enable the "End quests early" tweak in the settings.
>>
>>17176197
Webs - gets harder to break free from, but not terribly useful.
Summon monsters - you will get stronger monsters. Useful.
Teleports - no benefits.

So, i've restarted playing Elona with a new character, but i'm still having difficulties in raising speed. Potions of speed upper help somehow, but they are so rare, and eating raw shoes is so tedious, i've eaten dozens of shoes (lol), but i got the speed bonus just once.
I've just started believing in Lulwy , and that should grant me some speed bonus.

I'm the party master, with 70 performer. Loyter is delighted by the fine music i'm able to play.

Shop is going well, the museum is average. I still live in my old shack, too lazy to set up the castle right now.

My fellow adventurers are the little girl (she became an unstoppable tank), the older sister(excellent at long range ) and Goda the captain of orc.
>>
>>17177736
You'll need to make forbidden meat with the pot for fusion and bless it for that. You can also become a futa or flat like a doll (genderless) down there by cursing the meat. When it's neither blessed or cursed, the meat just makes you a trap.
>>
>>17177936
You should consider your other attribs too, not just your speed. All those Bad potentials...
At that level you should have a couple of wizard vendors at level 100+ with two investments, which should let you buy enough potions of potential to keep you at good/superb.
>>
>>17177936
You want to hit the second continent to trade AP for speed.
>>
>>17177942
>You can also become a futa
Huh. That one I did not know. Imma do that one.
I did have this idea of playing a basic farmer called Steve, a basic name, but that really just didn't fit once I started spending the vast majority of my time killing everything and very little farming.

Also anyone got any idea how big a grid I would need for golem sized sprites? Currently just playing around with this chick and other ones but eventually I want to make some big sprites for when I use my core items

>>17177936
Your are easily strong enough to kill the boss if you haven't already and moe on to part 2. Do that, use AP to raise speed and don't bother with shoes or potions or anything until you've capped it from him in part 3. Its pretty much a waste to use those before capping.
>>
>>17177942
Bear in mind that the cursed meats always swap your "technical" gender, which means if you were a guy you now choose from female portraits and anything depending on gender now acts as though you were female. And vice versa.
>>
I have 316/70 INIT.
If I'm not that autistic about minmaxing and just want to be able to kill everything in the game and clear all dungeons, realistically, how important is doing all the INIT recalculation and grinding up from zero?

I know it's an XP boost, but does it become relevant enough at not completely autistic levels?

>>

As far as I'm aware you cannot make PCCs bigger than 32x48 (so with all 16 rectangles the standard 128x192). A static sprite you can make 48x92 in two parts, like minotaurs. Which is probably the size you'd want.
>>
>>17178015
It's worth it if you derive joy from min-maxing.
Otherwise you'd see better returns just by grinding in that time (since realistically all you'll have to spend the extra AP on is bonus skill points.)

What do you do with all the fruits and vegetables that you grow? Just sell them after you train cooking?

You could also put them in an empty shop or a shop set not to sell food since they never rot in a shop to use as a fridge. Better to sell them though
>>
Is there stuff I'm not supposed to sell that can be turned into something really useful later? Stuff like
water
wands of firewall (to be turned to water)
vegetables (to be turned into processed food though pot)

I only recently realized how useful scrolls of worsen material are, p. much non-weight equipment for wizards. At the start I thought those were trash and stockpiled only by instinct.

Is it OK to sell all my oracle/naming scrolls, for instance (since oracle is duplicated by spellbook and naming seems useless)

Dem stats. It's my first Elona char, and they're about 1/3 of yours while I'm same level. I didn't grind anything beyond spells when they're at 400% so it doesnt go to waste, I don't know why I leveled so quickly. I only learned about potentials not so long ago, though, and my herb farm is only half full.
>>
>>17178354
Rings, amulets, wands, fish, ore should be stockpiled for god gifts.

Do not sell Oracle scrolls, because a stack of them is worth a massive amount of money and you can use it to trade with adventurers and get some very good gear. Don't give them the whole stack, keep trying to see how many scrolls does it take to trade for an item (drop the rest on the ground).

Scrolls of flying can be used to further reduce item weight (not just equipment). Also you can use your inferior material scrolls and flying scrolls on your grand piano, happy bed, BBQ set to massively reduce their weight by turning them into paper so you can take them along.
Scrolls of gain attribute, gain materials, growth and wonder you should save, and bless them in large stacks for extra gain.
Keep scrolls of mana, they are useful too.

You can use salt and pepper on ranched animals to increase the value of their corpses, if you want to sell them. Not really super useful, though.

Don't sell gems like rubinos, emerald, etc. Turn them into big gems using the pot of fusion. Do not sell those either. Trade them to your pets and let them sell it, because pets sell gems for 100% vendor value (the best you can get is 33%). They will use the money to train their potentials.

You can use empty bottles to create a random potion in wells, if you don't want to risk drinking from it and getting bad mutations or attribute decrease. You miss out on wishes, though.
>>
>>17178427

Level doesn't matter and spells will boost your level faster than a non wizard character.

Use stethoscope on them. You can randomly find it in dungeons or buy from general vendor.
You can also use a leash on them to prevent them from going far away from you, especially good for ranged pets.

I noticed I'm very short on sewing ingredients like vein, I have some 5-7 (probably from dreams) whereas the other crafting ingredients are in the 500-1000s. Have I been missing something? Are there special out-of-the-way gathering spots for those?

The default INI scores you get from character creation with the default races is fine for everything in the game. So an INI score of around 300-400/50-100 is in the normal range and allows you to get a decent amount of AP without having to sacrifice much to get it. My character has capped skills and has gained his fair share of AP without changing his INI score. I have no intention of changing his INI score with the NPC in South Tyris and probably won't use them on my pets either.

Mainly because their attributes and skills are already high and I don't want to sacrifice those to lower their already normal INI scores. Kinda see the service really to be used for pets with high INI scores and before you begin any actual work on them.

>>17178354
Only things I really stash away these days are wonder scrolls, gain material scrolls, gain attribute scrolls, potions of potential, potions of cure corruption, growth scrolls, treasure maps and material kits.

Earlier on you want to stash away god offerings. Like guns for Mani, bows for Lulwy, gems for Opatos and Jure, jewelry for Yacatect, rods for Itzpalt, fish for Ehekatl, etc. So once you finish one god you can just bomb the next with offerings and proceed through the god rewards quickly. Oracle scrolls are nice early on for quick gold and as a trading tool for getting stuff off of adventurers. Don't really need to stash them later on.
>>
>>17178442
At least you can ride little girls with no social repercussions. Especially since a few days of farming can earn you enough money to buy one. I'd say it's worth it
>>
>>17178535
Just remembered that repair kits should probably be stashed way too so add that to my list. Spellbooks of wish and rods of wish should be stashed until you're able to use them reliably. Potions of evolution can be gained from invested magic vendors and you should build up a supply of that just in case you lose a good mutation.
>>
I just don't give a fuck about watching the calendar anymore
Last two times when the Ether weather came, I was super careful to stay near a shelter.
THE FIRST FUCKING TURN THE WEATHER HIT I IMMEDIATELY GOT THE DISEASE, both times

I mean literally I see a "pop", blue smoke on the character and the weather starts. What the fuck is the point if you get the disease anyway?
>>
>>17178648
To not get more disease.
>>
>>17178657
I need to pop a potion every 3 months anyways.
>>
>>17178648
You gonna get it at a lesser rate duh. It's not a problem anyways, just playing casino gives more than enough potions of cure corruption.
>>
>>17178648
You'll get corruption even if you don't get caught in the etherwind. It's only a matter of time since the last cure corruption dosage before it shows up. Should stay out of the wind though. You'll get tons of corruptions if you don't seek shelter. All of that is story related though.

Potions of cure corruption are easy to get later on so corruption barely registers as anything to be concerned about. Can get potions of cure corruption from dungeons, from playing blackjack. from trading small medals for them from Miral, from adventurers, and invested magic vendors sell them. Early on it might be hard to get a stash going and most people just take advantage of blackjack to get them. If it's an emergency look into trading small medals for them. Later though, especially with invested vendors, it's easy to build up a stash.
>>
>>17178673
I don't really have a problem with getting potions, it's just annoying to get the disease before I could take 2 steps into the shelter.
>>
>>17178684
Could just buy a shelter, put it in your home, and hop in it when you suspect etherwind to hit. Can also just carry the shelter with you and put it down wherever. As long as you're not out in the open you won't be subject to the wind. So you could stay in a dungeon and just wait out the storm.
>>
>>17178684
Steps on the map take a lot of time and can cause a significant amount of Etherwind exposure.
The best thing that can happen to you is to get caught in a town, then talk to the innkeeper about shelter.

My little girl is about to bleed out and die in a turn. I have nothing to save her with, but what will happen if I send her to the town?
>>
>>17178814
She'll stay there then die the next turn after you get her back. Unless you throw a potion at her, I guess.
>>
>>17178814
You can hibernate her, and call her back in the town once you got a spell/wand/book of resurrection.
Then you can RP saving her at the last moment. You don't even get a relationship point loss if you res her.
>>
Does it matter if you identify items before dropping them off at your own store? (Will it affect the price, like it does with selling to NPCs?)
>>
What farms do you keep?
Right now I have a farm for veggies/fruits (planning to drop this one), one farm for shared ore/magic, one for unknown seed and one for herb.

Ore seems like a candidate for dropping, especially after I grinded up those gods. Gonna keep it until then.
I'm planning to keep the unknown seeds, tea sells for a lot of money and I like having flour available.
Is the magic farm worth it? Supposedly it can give you rods of wishing, but it's probably super rare and the rest it gives is trash.

No. Every jewel core you get from a dungeon has a randomly assigned statistic already on the core and when you fuse it to a piece of equipment, that statistic transfers to the item. So if you get a jewel core with shit like "It increases your Charisma by 11" then it's basically a wasted drop.

The actual good statistics like immunities are relatively rare. Best start farming those awakened dungeons because fuck knows it's going to be a while before you get anything remotely useful.

Aside from finding material kits in random dungeons and the void I tend to purchase them from invested souvenir vendors. They can be pricey so that option probably isn't available until you're making quite a bit of gold but once that's out of the way it's a good place to get a bunch of them.

While I'm hopeful I'll get a good material kit sold to me, I'll still purchase even really bad ones. Reason being is because Garokk can change a bad material kit into something good for a fee. The fee isn't bad and what's cool is you're presented with a list of materials to change the hammer into. So you can choose something good. If you don't see a material you want in the list you can always come back later and try again. The list of stuff he can change a hammer to does change with time.

I can't understand how does dice system for weapon damage works. Is 2d4 the same as 2-4? But then according to wiki "the game generates x random numbers between 1 and y", does that mean that I'll be getting two numbers from 1 to 4? And then what, are they are added to each other and that'll be my damage? Or only the higher number is picked?

It's like rolling dice.
2d4 means roll 2 dice with 4 sides so it could be any value from 2-8.

2d4 is 2 4 sided dice are rolled, so two numbers between 1-4 are rolled. They're added together and then any +whatever is added. So, here we have 4 6 sided dice, plus 20, plus 4 from enchantment and plus 1 from being blessed.

Awhile back, an anon looked into the code to see the instances of when luck showed up and recorded their findings.

http://codepad.org/rSGtFQ9b

To answer your question, it doesn't look like luck will effect what you get with wonder or gain scrolls. From what I can see, notable things that luck effects are to hit calculations, quality(miracle/godly) of items found, blackjack, random events(Ex: to bury a dead adventurer), handmade gifts such as the ones crafted by your pets while you sleep, rich man events, and curse resist. So according to anon's finding the wiki page needs to be updated.

The plus value of your ingredients contributes to the nutritional quality of foods which in turn helps increase attributes. A lot of food questions can be answered by visiting the food wiki page and especially the food technical wiki pages.

When dungeon diving, what benchmarks i.e. material and quality limitations, if any, do you put on equipment to pick up and sell? It's not really worth selling shit that's going for less than 1k from a vendor, and I'm looking at the quality and material sheet to try to find a nice value sweetspot for shit to pick up.
>>
>>17182957
I just assume its all shit or not good enough to be worth the effort, space or weight when I make too much money as is and I can just buy good stuff.

>>
>>17182957
Wings, fairy hats, and chest armors sell for a decent amount. If you have spare change material scrolls it's a good way to make a quick buck if it's a shitty material. Superior material equipment I usually pick up as well. Besides that anything miracle or higher.

I don't really have a benchmark. I pick up everything and sell all my stuff in my pet run shops. Yacatect walks the sales floor of the blacksmith shop, my pet Nia runs a magic shop, and my succubus pet Astar runs an inn. I put all weapons, armor, rings, amulets, and ammo in the blacksmith shop, all scrolls, spellbooks, and rods in the magic shop and all potions in my inn. Part of the reason why I don't care what the quality of the item is is because of trade ins.

I don't identify stuff. I just let my sense quality skill do the work for me. I'll throw everything into one stack in my shops and leave like I did at my blacksmith in my picture. Sometimes stuff stays unidentified and I don't really stress it and just leave it as is. I tend to have around 200 item stacks in all my shops before the day comes to an end. Since I have high speed it takes longer for a day to end thus I usually have more time to farm dungeons.

Picture shows sales at the end of one day with just me selling stuff I found in dungeons. Note that although I have 200 stacks of stuff not all of it got sold though. Also not pictured is me just taking all the monster corpses and cooking them up and selling them to normal vendors. My pet run restaurant hasn't opened yet. So I made about a million gold just from selling all possible stuff from dungeons with the juice still running because my shopkeepers haven't really sold everything yet. So dungeons can net you a lot of gold if you're selling everything you pick up, cooking corpses, and picking up gold piles.

To add onto the gold amount there's material spots so crafting can further boost gold amounts. Also while dungeon diving your crops and ranches are growing so you get to look forward to all that gold from those things as well once you have those set up. Cook the crops, ranch meat, and eggs. Sell the skins and milk.

Your mileage of the gold you make may vary due to pet run shopkeeper charisma/negotiation skills as well as your characters speed but for the most part your gold earnings will improve as spend more time in the game.

1.16 is vanilla Elona and I'm not really sure how exp worked previously. I can tell you in Elona+ though that skill levels later feel like they need more exp to level. Especially past 1000.

Sometimes I feel that I'm doing worse in dungeons with my pets out than without.
I always want to take care of them, which means I take risks instead of running or kiting when needed.
>>
>>17182957

I pick up everything simply for the sake of training Sense Quality as I go through the dungeon. I drop the crap later on as I run out of space or if I manage to overburden myself.
>>
>>17183423

Interesting, I see that it's worth doing now. I tend to be very autistic about my inventory and thus limit what I actually pick up, but I guess I'll change that now. It would be nice if there was misc inventory for random shit separate from stuff that you normally carry no matter what like stacks of herbs, bed, whistle, gems, statues, etc.

Go to the slave vendor in Derphy and gene engineer things into him/her. That will boost your pet's level and with it its HP and MP. Might even give it some new skills it didn't have. >>
>>17189675
As far as I know, the "herb in" effect is a bonus effect that's different from normal food mechanics. It can't get increased or decreased in any way.

That said, people like to use curaria as a base (as the food item in the recipe), since it also gives you decent increases on its own.
But since the recipe needs a curaria too and you can't use the same stack of items in two places in the recipe, what you can do is drop half of your curaria stack and bless it. The blessed and unblessed curaria will be different stacks, so you can use blessed curaria as the base item and the unblessed curaria as the other one that the recipe needs. This will always produce blessed food.

Weight matters if you want to 2hand a weapon. For that, they have to be at least 3.0s, or else your character can only 1H that weapon. If you're not going to 2hand a weapon, weight doesn't really matter. The benefits to 2handing a weapon compared to 1handing depend if you're more melee-oriented.
>>
>>17191470
Can I even 2hand a weapon with a shield tonfa in the offhand?

>>
Is there any merit to heavy equip weight at all?
>>
>>17191593

Super armor special action, and plate mail has the highest possible PV in the game. Of course you can just use flying scrolls on plate mail to make it light.
>>
Can you make a pet into a shopkeeper or something?

I used a Scroll of Ally and got a Kamikaze Yeek. I don't mind, but I set up a custom ai. She doesn't try to blow herself up but I can't get her to actually...walk after me, she stands still until the leash forces her to teleport to me. She'll shoot stuff if it's in range but it's not optimal.
>>
>>17191593
The super armor action is really good and eventually your weight limit gets so high it doesn't really matter.

>>17191615
Yea buy a shop deed, use it on the map, go to the counter and use it to set a pet. Doesn't really matter what pet you use assuming you do it early since they'll just scale to be as good as the later pets anyways
>>
>>17191642
Carry limit is not the problem, the hard coded spell failure chance when wearing heavy armor is.

As far as I know the only way to lower that spell failure chance is by playing as warmage, but even then only medium armor is viable.
>>
Oh yea I just use buffs/heal spells and hit everything in the face so I don't really notice that. I mean occasionally a heal will fail but since I'm in heavy armor and have super armor I can afford to fail a spell once or twice.
>>
So if you can use flying scrolls on your armor, is there any reason for not being in light armor weight all the time, besides that special action?

I'm playing a hybrid fighter/mage and went with warmage class for the casting chance bonus and assumed that if I want to survive in melee I'll need to use at least medium armor. But I guess I was dead wrong.
>>
>>17191665

Even with warmage you can't reach 100% casting chance with medium which is a huge shame because of the magic equip special action which could be amazing. It sucks but I guess mages just have to forgo both of those cool special actions for casting chance.
>>
>>17191698
You can have 97% which isn't so bad.
But I could use a shield or dual wield instead and stay in light armor.
Supposedly dual wield will give you 99%, shield 100% with warmage.

I assumed that in light armor I will be squishy as fuck with only wearing robes, but if I could wear high PV armor with reduced weight that could change everything.

You still get a penalty if you lower a weapon's weight, right?

As far as I know blessing doesn't effect attribute gains. All blessing effects is satiation. Due to this, I typically don't bless my stacks since eating unblessed stuff means it's less filling meaning I need to eat more from the stack in a given span of time. The only time I'll bless the stack is if I'm underweight and want to gain weight for rp purposes.

My character mainly uses static artifacts with artifact fusion thrown in for resists. It just so happened that the static artifacts I wear don't really come with maintain stuff so that's a chink in my armor but one I'm willing to tolerate. Since my character Kai is a martial artist/mage I can cast restore body and restore spirit to recover from any attribute drain attacks. On the plus side of having almost no maintain stuff I'm able to fill my gear with other stuff that I place high priority to get. Mainly resists and immunities. Aside from those I also wanted additional attack chance for my martial arts and enhances spells to do more damage with my spells. I also have some other nice things helping me out such as proximity assist and absolute pierce.

The whole stat damage/restore system is leftover from when Noa was largely influenced by ADOM, where stats rarely went over 25, and getting drained into a husk by high-ranking undead was a real concern

So I think I've found the way to power level spells with other added benefits. You just need opatos shoes and a pet with soul mate status. It's pretty simple, right now I've lowered my speed to 10, and I'm just sitting here holding s down until I become tired which happens EXTREMELY fast at such a low speed. When you go to sleep and wake up your pet will have made you food and a shiny new godly/miracle item that you can go sell. Repeat this several times until you desired spell potential(s) is back to 400% and spam cast away. My attribute potentials are sticking real close to 400% right now, and on top of that almost every single one of my skill potentials is 400% as well not to mention I'm passively training weight lifting and light armor alongside all this. Doing this is so obvious but somehow it never occurred to me. This is definitely more efficient than dumping platinum into mage trainers, and you still get bottlenecked doing that with potential as well.

I'm really confused about living weapons upgrade choices right now. I'm on Custom 1.67fix2.2. According to the wiki the options available for upgrade are based on the month. I've gone through three months now and it has changed every month, but my options are completely different than the ones on the wiki chart. I'm assuming, based on my experience and the fact it says the chart has changed again in 1.68, that whoever made it was jumping the gun and the chart is different for every player or weapon. But for me the third month's choices are the exact same as the first month's. Is there something I'm missing here affecting the randomization, or did I just get really weird luck with two months close together having the exact same options in every category?

>>17193706
I do this too but I use it in combination with attending magic practice when the potentials are at 400. Very fast way to level up tons of spells and gain attributes if you have the platinum. If I don't have the platinum I'll just level up a handful of spells in the field that I've selected to actively train.

>>17193798
I don't recall not having access to Custom features when I play in Japanese.

Well the wiki does say that the chart isn't accurate anymore but your selection does change monthly. Aside from actually waiting, hardening the weapon/upgrading it at the blacksmith will also change what you have to select from.
>>

>>
>>17193923
Dice and enhancement level were added to the formula, so either wait months or enhance/acid your weapon.
The list on the wiki seems to be accurate for the order, so if you spot a particular enchant you can predict how many months you need to wait, or how many +1 you need to add or substract.

Well some people will like it because it allows pets to be a more effective party member. Some spells and abilities cannot be taught though. The great thing about Custom is that most if not all of their features you can toggle on or off or simply not use. It's up to the player to decide what they'll find useful and what they feel will enhance their experience. I wouldn't be surprised if some people just use Custom for the translations and don't touch any of the tweaks while others play with only certain things on while leaving other things off.

If one does actively use the AI feature - does it blend well with the rest of the game (e.g. the balance of evolution-granted, or innate spells/abilities)?
>>
>>17194671
Well even without Custom, Leold can teach pets spells and special actions. So there is some overlap with what Custom does and the normal game does. Custom does offer a bigger list of stuff you can teach pets and allows you to program the AI to adapt to situations better. There are blacklisted spells you can't teach your pet meteor or wish so pets are not going to be breaking the game with what they cast. Also the spell formula for pets makes it so they're inferior to player casters in regards to damage and healing.

The only criticism I will say about the advent of teaching spells and special actions, whether it be through Leold in the normal game or Custom, is that pets lose some of their uniqueness. However that might not necessarily be a bad thing if you have ideas to play with one pet but worry you might be missing out on something. That something you could probably just teach the pet with Custom or Leold. I would say the Custom AI blends well with the game since it's just expanding on an idea already in the normal game but the real power though is tweaking the pet AI to be smart about what it has learned.

That might cause people to say its overpowered and if they don't want to play with that feature that's their choice. I personally don't mind the advanced AI because I don't see why a pet shouldn't have access to what the player has. They're my companions afterall and I want them to be useful so being able to program how they behave is something I enjoy but that's me.

I say give it a whirl. If you like it use it and if you don't then simply ignore the feature.

I'd like a feat that makes solo players gauges charge as absurdly fast as happy pets can get.

The recent update really nerfed the herb seed drop rate...
I barely got a dozen after one or two hundred harvest time quests.

Harvest time quests are a waste of time.

Struggling with Custom mod a bit. I set up my gunner (Android, God pet) like this, gave him a sniper rifle from Arcbelc and he still rushes in like a retard and hits things in melee for 0 damage. Where did I fuck up?
>>
>>17196541
They're great for training gardening early on though.
>>
>>17196552

That's true, early on they're a good springboard until like 100 gardening.
>>
>>17196550
You have to enable the custom AI, see how it says currently using default AI?
>>
I had a dream that you could change the difficulty stars on the quest board to be little ducks instead.
>>
>>17196497
>>17196541
How do you get herb seeds then?
>>
>>17196617

Kumiromi statues.
>>
>>17196561
Thanks, now I do feel very stupid.
>>
>>17196541
When you couldn't stop them early, i'd agree.
Now though, they're taking around the same time as hunting or party quests.
There's also the fact that bronze coin drop, enabling having at all time an evergrowing stack of traveler's food.

Oh, how i love traveler's food. No more worries, just chug it down when needed.
>>
>>17196683

They never give more than one plat right?
>>
>>17196696
It depends on the amount of stars.
More level and more fame, more stars.
But really, i understand skipping them when you got an army of cum statues, especially now that they drop herb seed only the 32th february.
>>
>>17196696
I've had up to 4 plat, from one-star harvest quests even. I think it scales with something, maybe your karma or level.

Considering they're as fast as performance (with animations set to a reasonable minimum) and the reward, they're great.
>>
>>17196752
>>17196767

I thought they were locked to 1 plat. I guess this changes things. I probably still won't do them though.
>>
How does the AI of skills added through AP works ?
Do the pet use them as much as possible, do they change in any way the base AI ?
I want to add shadow step to Kurara, but will that makes him stop rushing like a mad box everything he sees ?

Thank you based werewolf.

My dream was getting a Stradivarius. I was collecting music tickets, leveling up, waiting for that moment of unlocking South Tyris.
Then at around level 40 I realized that I can just have a paper grand piano with flying scrolls that gives even more bonus to performance than Stradi.

Hardly, this game has innate tags for things like metal NPCs that makes them immune to 90% of most-all damage types just making them better than most other options after you fix them with cheeses.
With these sorts of things I find the Custom system just makes everything else a lot more viable for the long term, granted those kinds of NPCs are still the best.
>>

I hate these kinds of things in RPGs. Keeps me from letting anyone dying and never running from fights.

What's the respawn time for town NPCs?
I went to Derby to finally level my gene engineering.
Literally in less than 5 minutes a random adventurer walked by with cursed equipment, summoned a fuckload of monsters and wiped out half of the town, including the slave vendor.
>>
Can I change a god I summoned into a town into another creature with a change monster rod, or will it just piss them off?
>>
>>17197430

Two weeks, but don't go back to it for the full duration, I think the counter resets otherwise.

I have three shops running at full capacity bringing 100-150k every day with some shitty lvl90 dungeon loot and haphazard farms, and with all the quest money on top it's *still* barely enough to keep two pets trained while buying out useful potions/scrolls from shops with their measly upgrades. Upgrading magic shops is totally out of the question. And I thought money was gonna be a free asset this game. Pet-free players must be swimming in money, though.
>>
I'm thinking about feeding my unused cute fairy lots of cursed hermes blood and taking her to the oblivion palace to recalc her INI but the wiki says it might go up if I do this. Her speed INI is 116, is that high?
>>
>>17197927
>116
It's pretty low, actually. Don't bother with speed INI; unless it's something like 200+, you'll get tons of AP anyway.

The special actions added through AP are learned by the pet. However, due to how the normal pet AI prioritizes certain actions, some actions you might rarely see. For instance my pet Akeno, which uses Karata as the base, learned attribute from tactical martial arts and used it frequently however shadow step from tactical attacks was used rarely. Custom can fix that problem by forcing pets to use special actions by playing around with their AI.

As for the rush thing that's just flavor text for a melee attack with some pets. Pic shows my pet rushing enemies after shadow step.

>>17195560
Since pets don't use stocks and don't have spell levels, the effectiveness of their spells center around their casting skill. As pets use spells their casting skill will increase and all spells they can cast will get stronger.
>>
I have a giraffe and a tank. The second gives much higher speed (100 more, 400 total) while riding it than the giraffe despite the latter being gene engineered with lots of +speed items.

However, the lvl80 tank's speed init value is supposed to be higher than the giraffe's, hurting my AP gain. Should I always switch to giraffe while AP farming or am I overthinking and the difference is actually small enough to not worry about it (my total AP is around 800)?
>>
>>17198004
If you ride a pet with too much speed for its strength it actually moves slower. Try removing those +speed items or training its strength.
>>
>>17198004
To add, I'm farming AP for my pets by tag-teaming with them, but I suppose higher speed init on my mount hurts that too?
>>
>>17198019
I know - with all item str/speed tweaks, tank gives me 100 more speed right now. It makes a difference. However, higher speed init on the mount => less AP. My worry is whether the difference is big enough to worry about at my scale, which is probably small by mid-lategame standards.
>>
>>17197881

>>
>>17198079
What are your crafting / your shopkeeper stats?
>>
>>17198004
Only have some knowledge about mounts but are you saying that the player's AP gathering is directly tied to the mount? I would think that the AP calculation is based on whoever delivered the final hit. If the player delivered the final hit the INI values for the player are checked. If the pet delivered the final hit then the mounts INI score is checked. Tag teaming shares AP and the actual amount of AP initially gained is determined by who delivered the final hit.

Haven't played in a long time. Is it still a good idea to equip growth disturbing equipment to keep a low level?

I already hit level 11 and most of my stats are hopeless even though I have a farm going and I'm cooking all of my food. Barely no herb seeds yet though. Is there a better way to keep stat potentials up during early game?
>>
>>17198245
No need anymore, you level too fast and there is no reason to stay low level
>>
>>17198245
Teach a pet cooking with the gene machine, get its relationship up to fellow, and go to bed between 8-11pm every night.
>>
>>17197955
By the way, what does the "Toggle Preserve Entity As Target" do? Do you have it on/off at some stages of your script?
>>
>>17198265
It preserves the target for multiple checks, so if, for example, you'd need to have both distance and status checks for the same enemy, pet would've not swapped target midway.
>>
>>17198265
Let's imagine one of the lines is "If ally's health is less than 30%, move forward". What you want your pet to do is move in the ally's direction to defend it. If you don't toggle that option the pet will move towards it's current enemy. If you do, it will move instead towards the ally (the entity in question).
>>
>>17198245
Aside from evading taxes and possible death penalties, there is no reason to avoid leveling. Keeping your level low will limit you severely in what you can do in Elona+ because you need that extra HP and MP to survive.

Cooking food and eating it isn't doing much to restore your attribute potentials. You need to invest in magic vendors and drink blessed potions of potential. Try aiming for shop level 100 with them to have those potions start showing up. You can also create your own potions of potential through alchemy if your skill is high enough. If you're playing with pets, having them learn the cooking skill through gene engineering and having their relationship at fellow or above will enable the breakfast event. Just make sure to wake up early enough for it. Breakfast can restore attribute potential and the amount gets better as their cooking skill increases. The fastest way to raise attribute potential is through blessed potions of potential though.

Elona wiki says speed init value is counted for whoever is higher, the rider or the mount. Unless the wiki is wrong, the question is how big of a difference it makes, at, say, 100 speed init variance.

100 is a very small gap later on. The reason is because power in this game snowballs. All a higher INI does is move the bar. It means to start getting a good amount of AP you need to do x lv dungeon or void floor where x is a bigger number than if you or your pet had lower INI. For instance, a low player/pet might start getting good AP gains from monsters in lv 50 dungeons whereas a high INI player/pet needs monsters found in lv 100 dungeon to begin collecting a good amount. In general low INI makes it so it's easier to get AP because you can start sooner.
